Well we have to be talking to Soldo surely. Wouldnt rush to remove Flynn or Bailey straight away, id keep all 3 on the list for this year then tell Flynn thanks but youre free to go next year when his contract is up.

Soldo is 28, ideal time to draft or find another young ruckman who can develop to be ready to go when Soldo is 32/33 and going about retiring

From SEN Trade Bell:

Christian Petracca

“These are the facts as we know it. He wants to leave Melbourne. He wants to play for another club. He wants it to be a big Victorian club with all the resources that sit behind that,” Edmund said.

“Over the weekend and into yesterday he made it clear to the Demons that he wants to be traded with the five years remaining on that contract worth $1 million per season.

“Melbourne remain absolutely resolute publicly and privately that he will not be traded under any circumstances.

“I can tell you Melbourne aren’t even completely clear as to what his issues are, which is incredible.

“Depending on who Petracca talks to, it’s different. If he talks to the players, his issue is with the leadership of the club and when he talks to the leadership, his issue is with the players and the off-field stuff.

“The brand side of things has always been very important to him and then there’s even some who wonder whether his relationship with Ben Simmons on the other side of the planet had something to do with it all.

“The club is so disappointed and so bemused by it all. They’re completely perplexed. They thought it would simmer down, but it’s now abundantly clear that that’s not the case.

“Some relationships with teammates are going to need repairing if he is to remain there. There’s some real frustration there.”

Harry McKay

“I’ve touched base with the manager of Harry McKay, who emphatically shut down any chance he would be involved. He is an absolute no (on being traded) 100 per cent.”

“ABSOLUTELY NO WAY”: MANAGER OF CARLTON FORWARD MCKAY SHUTS DOWN MELBOURNE RUMOURS

Richmond's looming exodus

“It’s the best chance they’ll ever get to fast-track their rebuild in a deep and consistent draft.”

Shai Bolton, the trade request with four years to run on a contract worth more than $1 million a season. Wants to get back to WA. Fremantle has the draft picks to make it possible.

Daniel Rioli is contracted for another three, wants to play for Gold Coast, they want him and they have the first round picks.”

Liam Baker wants to get back to WA as well. West Coast fan as a kid. That’s the most likely.

“Well the most likely is Jack Graham who has four years on offer from West Coast as an unrestricted free agent.”

Ivan Soldo

“It is an absolute watch. He hasn’t even been there 12 months yet. He’s got a level of disenchantment a year into his career at Port Adelaide.”

“He’s battled a knee injury and has now lost his spot in the side. It’s one to keep an eye on. It hasn’t quite worked out for him at Port Adelaide.”

Luke Davies-Uniacke

“He’s a free agent next year. I don’t expect him to be going anywhere. I think if you’re a North supporter, you can breathe relatively easily.”

Jake Stringer

“He’s pushing hard for two years. Bombers offering one. I think he gets the two, but this is always a fascinating watch.”

Nick Haynes

“Nick Haynes played on the weekend. It’ll be his last season at the Giants ahead of a move to Carlton as an unrestricted free agent. This one should happen no issue.”

Matt Owies

“He’s kicked the third most goals for Carlton and can’t get a new deal, in fact the Blues won’t even enter into negotiations with him.”

“List spots are tight, the Camporeale twins are coming in, the cap is tight, he’s being made to wait.

Caleb Marchbank, Jack Martin and David Cuningham are all out of contract and facing uncertain futures.”

Harry Perryman

“Unrestricted free agent, is finding it hard to justify staying at the Giants and is finding that tough because he loves the Giants.”

“Hawthorn are at the table here, but I’d bet on Port Adelaide if he does leave. The Giants have offered six years, but the finances aren’t what they appear.”

Isaac Cumming

“Port Adelaide have also come late to snare Isaac Cumming, but the Crows are in the box seat – could be as much as a five-year deal from the Crows.”

“At Adelaide, it’s shaping up to be an active trade period when you factor in Jack Lukosius and Alex Neal-Bullen as well.”

Jack Lukosius

“We did raise this back in April. Several rival clubs knew he was gettable and it has played out that way. My information is the Suns would facilitate a trade for him.”

“His contracted until 2026, so this is not a Jack Bowes situation. He’s on the hit-list for Adelaide.”

Adam Tomlinson

“Set to leave Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent. Wants more opportunity. Just wants to play. Is St Kilda the home as his third club?”

Josh Battle

“It would be a shock if it’s not Hawthorn. Sam Mitchell has really driven this.”

Tom Barrass

“This is a really strange one. He rejected Sydney’s interest twice due to loyalty to West Coast, logistical and family reasons, took less money to stay, but thought they’d scratch his back and look after him. The restructuring of that contract hasn’t been to the levels he wanted. Hawthorn’s offered five years.”

Bailey Smith

“You’d be absolutely staggered if it was anyone other than Geelong.”
I couldn't figure out how Adelaide were going to get Lukosius, ANB and Draper. Now they're in the market for Cumming as well apparently.

We're cooked the minute we start hearing stuff about 'Brand Harley' lol

Someone's doing a big job of painting Petracca as some massive egotistical prick it seems.
Would have thought that the ongoing issues at Melbourne that have lead to the their complete failure to replicate their 2020 success, despite Petracca holding up his end of the performance bargain, followed by Melbourne sending him back into a game where he had serious injury might be a bigger issue than his ego...

You'd think but the narrative seems to be shifting towards the player and not the club. It's a very strange situation.

Maybe not but we're going to be bottom 3, with the squad changes and senior players out I see next season as our first real one for our rebuild, a real focus on youth.
I think we've been rebuilding in earnest since end of 2021. A rebuild has phases: first you need to draft top talent (2021-2023), then they start playing and pushing out the vets (2022-2024) and that continues until they can hold their own.

My prediction is the last phase will be up to three more pre-seasons away. We will have plenty of young talent by the end of 2024 draft. The mids/smalls need three preseasons to be able to hold their own, and talls need at least 5. The good thing is we already have a bunch of talls, with the least experienced (J Will/Bazzo) with three preaseasons under their belt.

My crystal ball: we show lots of small improvements next year without necessarily getting a lot more wins. We then jump up into mid table from 2026, as Harley hits his straps and the other young players are experienced enough to support him.

Pick 6 and F1 & Baker from Richmond for pick 3 maybe
Why would Richmond go for this? Also, if pick 6 were involved, we might talk to Gold Coast to send that pick our way instead with Richmond receiving 12 and 13 instead.

Richmond are about to gut their list. They aren't giving away future picks when they will win the spoon with daylight between second last.
If they want Smith & FOS they just might. It comes down to the players they want and if it's FOS they would have to move up.

6 would likely get us Lalor or Smillie.

Maybe, but would you take pick 6, F1st and something else from GC for pick 3?

Unsure how the narrative isn't 'Melbourne doctor clears player to return to the field who then ends up in the ICU and had family members informed he might not survive'

Just watched the segment on Footy Classified where McClure claims that some of the reasons Petracca wants to leave are because he wants to play for a big club in front of big crowds, and to enhance his "brand" further.

Painted him in a pretty damning light.

That said... it's Sam McClure, so he probably pulled it out of his arse.

Not drilling into the specifics of the trade but Petracca to the Suns would be ideal for the AFL’s love child.

Lukosius along with 6 and the Doggies R1 and the AFL come in and classify $500k pa of the salary as ambassadorial. AFL might even grease the tracks for additional incentive

Dees have 3 x R1 (5, 6 and mid teens) picks along with a ready made key forward.

It allows Petracca to expand his Gold Coast foodie social media empire and provide the Suns with a genuine game winner.

Has Trac had enough of the Dees softclock culture? Him at the Suns and they are playing finals! Is Trac the missing 20%? Is he wanting the big club ego boost that only the big VIC teams can deliver?
No. trac is pissed at the hypocrisy of the "care" for players mantra that they espoused for months over Oliver during the offseason and earlier this year.... for an off field health battle, but when trac suffers horrific injuries related to footy, he was mismanaged and not followed up appropriately with the same level of "care"!

There's a saying in health

You don't get sued for what you do to a patient, you get sued for how was your bedside manner at the time and how the followup care is perceived.

You can cause severe injury to a patient but if they like you, you less likely to get sued, vs you get sued BC u can be perceived as causing harm even though it's minimal in nature, purely BC the patient didnt like you.

This stems from last year also. When Oliver was returning from that hammy, he and a bunch of senior players (trac included) were seeking physiotherapy services outside the club in a clinic in South Yarra area, refusing to be managed in-house. Not sure if the rehab team was replaced offseason, but the level of trust is low one imagines.

Jack Martin out of contract and no offer as yet from Carlton?
Injury prone yes but if he can come cheap and finally get his body right, big if I know, he could be a bargain get.

Remember how highly he was rated in his draft year.

Definitely no spud, except for said injuries.

No.

No injury prone players please. None. We've flogged that horse for 3 yrs. Clean bill of health and durability essential.

Let the flagmantle flogs risk it.
