Apparently the West Coast is desperate for L.Baker as it will struggle to meet minimum spend next year if Barrass leaves and other possible recruits don't eventuate.

Getting the feeling that the club will pay above value here to ensure that doesn't occur.
Can't we up Harleys rookie contract for next two years as a show of good faith

Nope, not allowed.

For the top 20 draftees who now have 3 year contracts there’s scope to increase the 3rd year contract to avoid players being underpaid

Increases are linked to things like B&F finishes, rising star nominations, AA representation and Brownlow votes

But only 3rd year and not in amounts that would make much difference to the salary cap

Surely we can manipulate things if we need to.

Barrass let’s say he is on $800k (reportedly less, hence he is leaving), cap is just under $18m next year, so floor is around $17m.

If we need to find away to spend an extra $700k ($100k would already be paid to a draftee) we could absolutely front load Waterman, Yeo, Hough, Ryan, Duggan, Ginbey. Plus cap trade for better picks (Barrass and Darling - I.e pay some of their wage next year).

Fairly certain we’ll get at least 1, and likely 2-4 FA or trade targets also. But even looking at our contracts it is a grim list on how we meet the salary floor 25/26 (27 I think there may be a contract or two that will bump us up!)

Good call, one year extension for Coen.

This was pretty much expected with no NGA prospects this year besides Champion so Livingstone can remain on the Cat B list with Dewar for another season

I have already had enough of Matt Clarke. What can he see in a 199cm guy who cant win a hitout in the WAFL and cant play around the ground. We needed a list manager more than a coach and we have gone from bad to worse with this ken doll

Over react much?

Livingstone was always going to be a slow burn as an 18 year ruck/forward and he may very well not make it as Alesana has pointed out

But he’s a free hit. We have no one to replace him with on the Cat B rookie list so if we delisted him we’d go into next year with a 43 man squad instead of 44. Might as well keep him on the list to help our WAFL team and see if he comes on

Further, because he’s a Cat B rookie his salary is totally outside the salary cap

Posters are squawking in other threads about missing Humphries as a NGA of ours - we’re doing with Livingstone what we arguably should’ve done with Humphries

Early call but can't see Livingstone making it

Maybe not but he’s the definition of a free hit for now. There’s no downside to keeping him on the list for 2025

You should see their comments over on the D&T board...

Waterman and Allen to be shipped off for 3rd and 4th rounders. Sack Yeo, etc.

Clear troll IMO.

No way they're not authentic West Coast - it's even in their name!

Not what I said, Allen for a future fourth yes, but Waterman would be a late first if he wants to go. I don't rate Allen at all, struts around with his bumb out like a private schooler at assembly and then plays like its a game of markers up.

So you would encourage a bumb to hang around your workplace because they aren't costing anything.

Well I’m letting your dumb bumb hang around here

For now
