After going back on a handshake deal for a contract increase, the Eagles should double down and go back on a handshake trade for Tommy, just for shits and giggles.

Surely now even the Victorian media can't twist themselves into saying Barrass is worth Hawthorn's 1st round pick.

And it seems to confirm that Scott Burns and Sam Mitchell's time with us helped a bit towards the 2018 Premiership.

Surely we can manipulate things if we need to.
You can renegotiate most players salary, bringing money forward. It really opens up the salary cap in future years.

You could pay Harley $2 mil in his fourth season, and still be $4 mil under the cap.
Barrass let’s say he is on $800k (reportedly less, hence he is leaving), cap is just under $18m next year, so floor is around $17m.

If we need to find away to spend an extra $700k ($100k would already be paid to a draftee) we could absolutely front load Waterman, Yeo, Hough, Ryan, Duggan, Ginbey. Plus cap trade for better picks (Barrass and Darling - I.e pay some of their wage next year).

Fairly certain we’ll get at least 1, and likely 2-4 FA or trade targets also. But even looking at our contracts it is a grim list on how we meet the salary floor 25/26 (27 I think there may be a contract or two that will bump us up!)

Tell Hawthorn we want a top 10 pick and let them work out the how
Pretty much this. Barrass is contracted so it’s up to them to make it worth it for us. We don’t simply just get whatever pick they end up with this year. That’s the vibe I get from the Eagles’ statement from when Barrass requested his trade anyway.

If hawks pick is 14-18 I’d be chucking a f2 with Barass and asking for them to give us ward and their first.

Then I’d bundle 3+ hawks f1 and hope that’s enough to trade for an uncontracted Liam baker.

Actually though I’d hope we pick Draper and then travaglia, Lindsay or berry.

Would also pick up Jack Avery in rookie draft for key position depth he’s still young I rate him better than a bazzo.

Barnett for soldo would be nice

Overpay peatling get him over here

23 for baker I guess but would rather walk him through psd

Try and upgrade on our worst 10 players that’s where the improvement will come from

For all the teeth gnashing, if Hawthorn lose to Port next week then it’s pick 13 instead of 12 so not a huge difference

*Yes, I’m aware it’s a big if

If they play like that against Port, they will beat Port into oblivion.
Will be a future 1 now, pick drifting too far. They also owe us big time for taking Brockman off their hands. Maybe they can take Tom Cole and Bailey Williams with Barrass.

Unless Carlton beat the Lions and then lose to Swans/GWS, then it’s 14. Either way I think we’re out of Travaglia territory now unfortunately.

Unless we do this, which we should otherwise it’s R1 and F1. From memory Freo told GCS they would accept a top 5 pick for Weller. GCS couldn’t trade down and ended up handing over pick 2. Plenty of other Vic suitors we should absolutely hold firm.

Bombers pick 8 and 28? They might have a cap squeeze though.

Saints 7 and 24.

Dogs (cats R1 Bayley smith compo) Garcia and buzz for barrass and 40(darling trade)
