Review Dees v Collingwood: Judgement Day. The Good, Bad & Fugly

As pissed off and disgusted as I was, I'm firmly on the Crows bandwagon today.

The excitement of living in Queensland means we've had the following blockbusters on free to air:
  • Hawks Dogs
  • Norf Lions in the battle for the spoon
  • Port Suns
  • Tigers Saints
How about televising games that matter and that people actually want to watch, FFS...

I think most players were spent. It's been a long season. They only one that doesn't have any excuse is jones. He was shocking if there was ever a game he needs to make a statement it was this one. He is old enough to still have plenty of petrol in the tank.
For all the younger players they ran out of juice 3 weeks ago.

We will be top 4 next year

Players were spent? They played against a collingwood side without Pendles/Wells/Varcoe/DeGoey/Fasolo and Reid. We were disgraceful from start to finish and only played well when we got 5 goals behind twice

Our team make up needs to change. Too many players getting beaten over head too often which just releases pressure for the opposition.

Our defence is a big problem. Oscar Mcdonald is miles off being a good defender and Toms kicking and decision making under pressure cost us late in the game.

Jayden hunt tried his hardest to lower his eyes and hit up targets but he's a pretty horrible kick. I love his run and effort but he's no better than Dean Terlich at kicking the pill.

Specific to the game we had the momentum in the second and absolutely blew it with horrific forward entries after being a shitload behind because our zone defence was torn apart until it was changed at quarter time. That's a pattern that's worrying that we seemingly can't change up the system during the game to stem the bleeding
Why do people only talk about Jayden's kicking when discussing his weaknesses? From what I can tell, he's actually a terrible defender. Regardless of how important his drive might be (when he's switched on), he's a member of the back six and needs to defend too. He's shit at it and nobody seems to care because he can run fast. Pisses me off!

Im going to a mates to watch Mayweather vs McGregor at 11am, NOW i will now end up watching footy over there til 7 as well, will get home round 8. Mrs is super happy as one would imagine when i told her ill be home at 8 instead of 3-4. "You're a grown women you can sort out dinner" ....

**** this club for getting me in trouble.

Better than my conundrum pre fight. I'm watching my mate play finals, I want him to win, but want his team to lose.

Also Cam Pedersons effort to go back with the flight again almost single handedly turned momentum for us and it resulted in a goal. He wasn't at his best yesterday but he's one bloke who can look his team mates in the eye and say he left it all out there

Spoken like a man who knows getting home at 4 only means getting in trouble for something else.

Should drink to much and get an Uber home.

Yep. That should have lifted the whole team. It was incredibly brace. They all tried hard for about five minutes... Salem also went very hard back at a ball not long after where he could have got destroyed.

Agree it stands out we need players who kick well, one of the reasons Watts stood out so much yesterday is the kicks he hits up through the centre of the ground.

Just watched Goodwins post match interview. Pretty emotionless fair. I would have liked him to show a bit of passion and anger at a completely unacceptable performance. Looks like hes from the Dean Bailey cuddle school... I understand why coaches do that, to avoid losing the group, but it's a fine line. I guess the opposite is Neeld or Rocket, or Buddy Stephens from Last Chance U. We definitely don't need any of them...

Goody went berserk at 1/4 time pretty sure, brought the players straight into a huddle and didn't look happy at all.

Pretty surprised you got hawks/dogs and tigers/saints to be honest

There's such a thing as trying too hard. Not from an intensity point of view but definitely from a 'shit things aren't going our way we'd better start f**king playing really well' type of way. Which leads to errors (eg that kick in that was intercepted by Cox?). There's a reason this group tends to play better 40 points down than 10 points down. And I believe it's fixable (might have to wait until next year though...). Anyway.

On Jones' leadership (which has been questioned), at QT he brought the group straight into a huddle, before any of the splitting up into line coach groups etc. I'm lost that anyone questions his attitude. So it didn't work, ultimately. But what more can you ask? He can't just decide 'okay I'd better play the best game of my life today'. Doesn't work like that.

And I thought the Pies actually played us perfectly yesterday. Some credit to them, I think.

I don't criticize Jones' attitude, I criticize his performance.

I hope we do make finals now. Yesterday mid tantrum I was all 'stuff them - we don't deserve it' but being humbled yesterday followed by a week off to rest up and stew on our own daftness could be just the ticket.

Always get the Friday night game, and every Suns game, and every Brisbane game (except one time we played either Gold Coast or Brisbane and it wasn't televised), and another game. If Friday night is a disappointment, most of the time it's not worth tuning in to the rest.

Well Essendon certainly seem to not have problem winning games that they should and securing a place in the finals. Out only hope is that Adelaide don't take it easy against the WCE

And Freo ,North, Richmond, Hawthorn all got the same result because they played us perfectly. Lesson not learnt???
