Gah that was shit. Clarko can gagf for his sook last month about the umps. It's made htb more of a shit show and I reckon made the officiating waaaay more inconsistent and it's affecting other rules too. Dangerous tackles are plucked out 1 in 5. Below the knees frees have disappeared bar 1 per game.
Hawthorn are shit, Al, that's why they don't get frees.

otherwise, Viney and May were great. Hibberd was solid. Melk was good. Everyone else way meh or tear your hair out for at least a couple of touches.

Fugly - Gawn dominating hit outs yet our midfield getting crushed in the clearances.

So frustrating.

Tonight reminded me of our match against Port in Adelaide in 2017 for some reason, in that I just knew we'd goof it up late in the match and lose.

It's such a killer watching the same match time and time again and almost knowing the result, definite mental barrier when playing good teams.

Can't wait for this to deflate the boys' fragile egos such that they go on a historic losing steak of 5 games in 7 states within 3 days or whatever the fk the AFL have assigned us its ugly stepchildren which would be remarkable for any club other than ours, the ****ing Andy Warhols of losing

You'd be pretty pleased as Chris Fagan - Lions played like crap for most of the night but you'll always find a way to fall over the line against the Dees.
Their mids were all over us most of the time. Our backs were fantastic though.

Not sure if good or ugly: Birchalls rig looked slop. Good that a bloke carrying a few rolls can still get a run, but he might wanna size up his guernsey.

All of our forwards besides Melksham just couldn't take their chances when it mattered.

Kozzie done for 2 "dangerous tackles" what a joke - the bloke is like 70kg
Add to that he made no dangerous tackles.

Their mids dominated in the second quarter when there was zero intensity from us, but mostly they just cruised. Tthey didn't play badly but they certainly didn't face too much resistance from anyone other than Viney.

I'd suggest we played well in the first and fourth as opposed to them being rubbish.

Both sides were okay in the first, think we just got lucky that they tired out. Wasn't a great game from either side, Lions well below their best.

I'm 'captain glass half empty' but I'm choosing to take a positive view of the bookend quarters.
