literally tonnes of excuses
Worth noting TK that the AFL have totally screwed the ticketing too, especially for 16 gamers (those who have away games in Melb). You can’t just walk up anymore with your card, have to register for your ticket through an app. It’s turned a lot of people off as it’s just too damn hard for what was such an easy process.

The good: the return of Petty, the return of Spargo's form and the goal of Bowey.
The bad: A 10 min period in the 2nd quarter. Harmes kicking into the man on the mark, Langdon putting hands in the back, Tom Mcdonald blatantly giving a free away in a ruck contest.
The Ugly: Umpiring.

The whole ticketing thing is a pain in the ass. Buying guest passes is a chore. Having to enter everyone's name and phone number is annoying.

My old man is 70, not that tech savy, and he can't get all the details in before it times out.

There is just a lot more friction added to the whole experience that turns people off.

Well there ya go. Maybe this precludes a woman, maybe it doesn't matter at all but the next CEO of the AFL I hope doesn't get bogged down in social issues and the image of the game and gets back to helping grass roots and the fans. Having the reigning premier play in front of 20k isn't great at all.

I noticed this early in the game, I don't think they've had a chance to play on each other since being traded. My dad pointed out that May is wearing number 1 as well which I never thought of.

Not sure if there is an excuse every week, only that there's still hesitancy post covid. People are also staying away from big crowds because the catering cannot handle the demand, people don't want to queue up for a quarter just to get a pie and a beer. You add these factors to Easter weekend which the afl schedule mainly Vic vs interstate teams as people tend to go away. I was expecting a bit more, but when I saw saints who are in good form only draw 18k I expect 20k for ours.
Yeah Easter holidays so you always expect less. I'm away too and would've gone last night. Also, people should remember that GWS probably brought about 500-1000 fans max, any other interstate team bar GC and it's a late 20k to 30k

Lol Freo aren't making up half the crowd against us in Melbourne.

COVID is flattening crowds as a rule across the comp - even the Showdown, Deefy, etc which have typically been guaranteed bumper crowds have been down. AFL either needs to reduce prices or reduce barriers to entry (like ticketing difficulties or short staffing at grounds impacting match day experience) if they want to try and offset that, unless there’s some genius marketing approach to ease hesitancy.

Neither is any interstate side. If a third of the crowd at a Dees home game is WC supporters then our clubs struggling.

Don't count Sydney or Brisbane obviously
Still bringing at least 5k imo

Good - a comprehensive team performance with no passengers.
Bad - My puns. After Connor Idun gave away a free to Fritsch in front of goal, I commented "Idun goofed".
Was pretty proud of that one.
Fugly - The damn umpiring. One in particular. Not going to name and shame, will just say that I had a couple of derogatory comments about her deleted by mods.
Giving away 2 goals as a result of hurting Stevic's feelings.

It's annoying and certainly was causing some frustration with my dad who isn't the most tech savvy last night. Had a situation where we moved from one area to another and my dad was getting frustrated that he had to get his phone out and then reopening the app ect. I mean I found it okay as I had it all ready to go but still it's much easier to flash the lanyard. Checking vax certificates need to go as well.

Random but at the dons game, two kids in umpiring uniform who were umpiring the Auskick got denied at the gate with their mum because they had a whistle.

Yep, the umpires weren't allowed to come in because they had a whistle.

The security bloke had no clue even with the mum showing him the email from AFL Victoria. Would've been stuck at least 15 minutes

25k crowd still sucks mate. We are 5-0 and the reigning premiers. You'd be expecting 30k as a minimum. We were unders in every game so far with the crowd
Do you really expect us to become a powerhouse club after the flag????

We're still a relatively small club ffs

You said that like you think I don't know? 30k aren't powerhouse numbers in the slightest ya peanut that's a decent not good crowd.
Round 23 2018 we got 37k against GWS at home. So the crowd was almost down 50% not that you'd remember being 7 in 2018

Years ago at the mcg we would cop this dude who had no idea that we were entitled to go into a certain area. The thing is we would just go to level 2a and come down the stairs behind him, he was an absolute moron. You would think after the constant complaints he would learn or given the flick.

Well if we want to get technical 10 of 30k is a third. Probably bring in an extra 5k in reality.

Do you think 20k is a good crowd for us
Is this a question?

We need you there to show us the way TK. Come on, don’t let a little plane flight get in the way, you support the 5-0 reigning premiers.

Curious what crowd we get next week with Richmond home game. Last year was 60k from memory?

anyway, Bowey kicking that goal was awesome and showed how crap GWS were hahaha.
