Hey guys, I'm going to be in Melbourne and have got a couple of tickets to see my first ever game at the MCG :D

Just curious what sort of expected crowd turn out we're looking at? Reason I ask is the online booking site was super average and wouldn't let me pick any decent seats so I just go them near the 50m line pretty far back on the crows cheer squad side. Reckon I'd be able to just head over near them and sit there (to be with my kind if people) or will it be packed?

Finally any tips or advice for popping my mcg cherry? How's the Carlton crowd normally? Taking my missus and don't really want to be copping shit for wearing crows stuff :p

Burton takes a “solid” mark, while sitting on Tippet’s head. I think he’s still stuck in orbit.

That game was incredibly high scoring. Looking back on it, it’s hard not to get nostalgic - Knights, Porplyzia and Tippet each kicked 4 goals, and Bernie kicked 3 in a BOG performance. We ended up winning 27.14 (176) to 16.8 (104), a massive 11 goal thrashing in a 43 goal game.

I believe an alternative view of that mark adorns Gate 1 and Etihad stadium.

About 35k is my prediction with about 5k being Crows supporters.

You will be fine wearing your Crows gear... There are plenty of us over here.

Yes, I always wear Crows gear at any game. No issue interstate.

Crows by 24 points.
Margin will by 5 points.
Since I moved to Adelaide, all 3 games I've travelled interstate for have resulted in 5 point games.

I just don't know which way it'll go.
finals, we're 0-2, while in the home and away season we're 1-0. So using that logic, we win.
Or the other way, at the MCG we're 0-2, while away from there we're 1-0. Using that logic, we lose.

But the game will by a 5 point margin.

Those 3 games were the SF in 2009, Swans in 12 and PF in 12.

At the moment neither Adelaide or Carlton can be trusted in terms of what they bring on gameday.

It's therefore a deadset 50/50 proposition relying entirely on which Crows and which Blues turn up

The pax number on my 2 tickets are 19241 and 19242.
I'd then estimate about 20k Carlton members turning up (3 game members would probably save the games for bigger opponents)

So at least 40k. Maybe 45k. (got 45k last year and 41k in 08 - only 2 games there not in a final)

Hey guys, I am also going over for the game on Sunday, I have to drive to drop some machinery off to someone in Melbourne, So I will have a vehicle and was trying a good place to park for the game, I googled and found that you can get parking for $10 in Yarra Pk, Has anyone done that and there thoughts? Or any other parking spots recommended, First time at the G, Been to a few a Etihad but always flew over and used public transport, Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Carlton played really well against us in February and may have even won the game had they not rested players in the 4th qtr. Feeling that this may be a lot closer than I originally thought.

Players missing from that game were Tex, Betts, Pods (2nd half rested), CC and Laird.

Otten and Crouch will obviously be missing on Sunday.

Have I missed anyone?

I must say we definitely see less big marks like this than in past.

We were blessed in having Modra and Burton literally "fly" for big grabs for us.

I still think Burton's best mark was the one at AAMI Stadium vs Carlton.
Was a big pack of abuot 5-8 people, Burton jumped from the back, was on the way down, forward and horizontal to the side of the pack, arms fully extended sideways over the pack and he plucks it.

I think the degree of difficulty was harder for the 04 mark, but the 09 mark was definitely more spectacular more footy pr0n. He jumps in the air, gets the second lift up again and goes higher and comes down well crashing into the Blues player. Do you know whether he kicked the goal from that mark of yours?

Impressive that he still had that ability to leap from 04 to 09. Someone may remind me, but Im sure he came back from injury only recently in 09.

A bit of talk of how Armfield mowed down Danger in a game on the Blues board.

After looking at both these again, in fairness to Danger in the first chase, he came at him at 45 degrees as opposed to running him down right from behind. In the second a poor bounce by Danger led to him losing "time" to collect the ball which allowed Armfield to chase him down.

In saying all that Danger should be cautious on Sunday, the Blues are a fast team.

always easier for the chaser than the chasee. It's a lack of awareness not pace, not that Armfield is slow by any means lol.

Betts to kick 5 goals.

Going by this seasons new recruits, Daisy had a poor game against the Pies, Buddy kicked poorly against the Hawks.

If Betts kicks 2-3 goals, we probably win the game, not to mention his GA which is about 1 a game too.

Best place to park is the St.Vincents private hospital carpark. Only $10 flat rate, short walk to the ground and easy access in and out from there. Although it's a low carpark so if you are in a van or something it might not be the place to go.

Pfft danger is just jogging when he gets run down, you don't run full speed when your bouncing the ball anyway. Put the ball in anyones hands and danger without it would absolutely destroy them from 20m behind, he wins the 100m GF sprint by 20m....

Im pretty sure at the Crows, that JJ is apparently the fastest over 20m? Anyone?

I doubt Armfield has the pace to catch Danger from behind once he's taken clean possession of the ball. That's no slight on Armfield, as not many players do.
