West Coast big, strong, good defence, great attack, and Nic Nat.

Geelong also good, a great midfield, and they will be desperate to amend last weeks loss to the rampaging Pies.

Nic Nat the difference, WC to win a tight contest.

Scarlett has the final say in the make-up of our defense. Now I posed this question at the start of the week with no response.

What do all of O'Connor, Bews, Taylor, Kolodjashnij, Tuohy, Henderson and Blicavs have in common? Answer that and I'll tell you why our finals record is poor.
Geelong had by far the best defence this year, can you explain this further? Not sure what they have in common

No run out of the back half! Stay at home defenders!

What language you use!! Cats rocketed to favouritism, backs against the wall, hell of a performance ! Give me a spell! Rioli played well last week, but has played about a half a dozen good games in his career. He came back to pre season overweight. He is average! And experienced eagles will focus on the job at hand.
Dear me!

I wasn’t talking about the loss of Rioli as much as the impact of his suspension on the whole team.

Could be a win for the ages if we get up. All the pressure on the cats now.

Of course all of the pressure is on Geelong. It would be a damn shame if they fail to win a final despite finishing first on the ladder in the regular season!

Please let the 1st ruck contest result in the ball falling into the arms of a stationary Dangerfield.

Then cue the NN should have considered the weight, height and hypochondriac factors before laying the tackle.
Oh god I'd love to see him try. PFD is one of the few players that could make NN look like an absolute bitch.

I've been super accurate this season.

Beware!!!
Well your prediction is 122 points different than mine because I'm going the pussies comfortably by 22 points.
Even though I rather avoid Geelong & play the weagles I feel the cats will be very hungry and switched on tonight.

Think the ruck battle will be interesting in this one. Nic Nat is only going to play his usual game time so it will be Hickey vs Stanley for the majority of the game. For mine it’s Hickey just and that might just determine the result of the game.

Funnily enough Hickey had his best game of the season against Geelong. By quite a long way. We also got smoked by 10 goals though.

All week I have thought Geelong but now I think West Coast by 7, the Willie stuff might have a short team benefit on galvanising them
They also had the plane delay getting into Melbourne late on Wednesday night.

I think this will pan out similar to our 2012 SF and the Cats-Swans 2017 SF. Cats will wake up and get over the line.

hard to say how yesterdays revelations will affect the rest of the Weagles, will it deflate them or fire them up?

Hoping for a close win to them anyway...

We can't talk.. The cats haven't proved themselves at all and WCE are reigning premiers... Hate to say it, but it's true....

Where did I say I rated us as being premiership worthy? I just don't rate West Coast's premiership aspirations, and my comments reflect that. I never pumped us up as being a contender. I'm just surprised so many are jumping on the Eagles after a flat track bully type win against a crap team (Essendon). I bet the same people pumping them up wrote them off after their choke against the Hawks in the last round. That's footy for you.

I've been on Richmond all year as the team to beat and I've been laughed at when they had their troubles, but hey, everyone who wrote them off have jumped back on again. They aren't laughing now. Funny about that.

Agreed. I don’t really think either two teams will go on to win it. Eagles have been taking it easy all year bar a game or two and didn’t really play all that well last week. But Geelong aren’t exactly crash hot either. I agree you can criticise one team without it correlating to another.

Totally agree. I think it's highly likely either team go down to Richmond next week. You never know what can happen on the day, anything is possible, but realistically Tigers will probably defeat us or the Eagles.

They are all poor decision makers, all lack pace, all poor by foot, all ineffective at ground level and all one-dimensional in that they can defend one on one adequately enough but don't possess the ability to run with the ball and take the game on.

This works well during the home and away season and more particularly on the narrow confines of Kardinia Park but once the pressure is doubled in the finals it hurts us as a team. One way to break the swarm of pressure in finals is to have players down back who are really quick minded, make good decisions and use the ball well. This forces teams to stand back a little or risk getting opened up on the spread. Teams know they can press our defense because they won't get opened up due to the lack of smarts and players unable to break the game open with run and precise kicking. It's why our forwards struggle to have an impact in finals.

I'll always maintain that finals are won by your defensive unit. Firstly, the ability to hold the opposition to a low enough score, and secondly, the ability to set up the play and create scoring opportunities for the forwards. You still need to be able to score to win finals football and we've been found wanting as a result of a one-dimensional backline implemented by Matthew Scarlett that relies on teams using the ball poorly further up the ground.
