Bris undefeated at home this season.
Guess who has got closest to them?
Collingwood, Melb and Geelong all tried and failed.

We must be back to the least experienced team in the comp again now.

Bigfooty: I'm sick of these honorable losses

What would you prefer, bigger losses, like the top teams, cos that's more honorable?? 🙃
What do all those teams have in common?

They lost

How do honourable losses get entered on the ladder?

They don't

Honourable losses are what people rock themselves to sleep at night

Honourable losses make it easy for coaches to hide behind.

Honourable losses do nothing, nada, zip

I never said it was honourable, but Brisbane haven’t lost there all season, it’s tough to win. I prefer to be glass half full and understand that we a long way ahead of where I thought we would be this season. Only need to win 2 or 3 of these games next year and we can make top 4, it’s nearly all there.
How dare you be optimistic.
Don't you know how to bigfooty?

It really annoyed me to hear Nicks give that answer

Yeah sure, Charlie had a purple patch

But losing 11 of the first 12 clearances of the third quarter didn't trouble him? Brisbane going coast to coast unpressured from the kick out to the F50 multiple times in the game didn't trouble him? Us allowing them to isolate CC one out in the F50 so often due to the unfettered speed of ball movement we allowed didn't trouble him?

Those things perhaps had an impact on Charlie vs Max?

Needs to dig a little deeper. What is the root cause? What are the first dominos?
Yep max was hung out to dry by things up field that quarter

Coming within a kick of three of the top 4 teams away from home, and beating the other top 4 team twice is well ahead of schedule for the experience level of this squad, particularly with injuries. Overall a positive year and we need to be a finals team next season.
Crows v top 4 teams:
Won 3 by a combined 95 points
Lost 4 by a combined 13 points

Didn't Carlton have a lot of honourable losses last year which meant they just missed out on the Finals but started this year looking like a top 4 contender then went on a losing streak and is now on a winning streak and one of the form teams heading into Finals? It's all part of the process of building a list to contend for the premiership.

Why the **** would I care about Carlton?

Didn't they also have 6 losses in a row and the coach was about to be sacked?

I dont care what people say I was proud of the defenders. Rookies and kids - they did their best and we have a very good future there
Our defence has been really good all year , it’s probably our most dependable unheralded line

We lose defenders and young guys continuously step up

We don't have a midfield the calibre of Cripps/Walsh/Cerra/Docherty though.

Unless we invest in that area we are going to be like St Kilda have been for the last 7-8 years. 7-12th every year and a lot of close losses because they lack the class to close out games.

Harry has become a much more mature player. Is doing some really team orientated play and some tough team things. This is the Harry we need to have
Been very solid since his return... good to see we have a player again.

You were talking about "honourable" loss and how it "doesn't matter" so I used them as example as part of the process of build a premiership contending list. Yes, they did which is why I mentioned the losing streak they had mid season after starting the season very well and also are now on a winning steak and one of the inform team heading into Finals.

Better goal kicking and we win is exactly what I'm saying. It's being not good enough and needing to improve
Has cost us several game this year & unfortunately will be the difference for missing finals.

Docherty is a quality midfielder? What about Dawson/Soligo/Rachele/Laird with Schoenberg and Berry in there?

Great news for us for next year , I’m itching to hear reports of him getting fitter to a new level in the upcoming pre season
Confident he has the talent, just needed to get his mindset right.

We will win some of these games next year.
With respect, I get NO comfort/joy from what we might win next year, not today, or from the current season.
Not now, after a loss, when a win would have had us in the race for a 5th or 6th spot and a HOME Final.
Contenders are also-rans. Winners win.
I don't wanna be in 10th/11th/12th spot, 'contending'. I want us to be IN the Top2, or Top 4, or 5th/6th right now, with 2 to play
Did anyone have us even contending with top 4 teams away from home in 2023?
To be honest, no, I didn't.
Still no comfort that we are not beating them.
In 2023 we are making up the numbers.

Thilthorpe really disappointed tonight. Meek in ruck and at the high ball. Back to the reserves for you
Very quiet game.

Would like to see Nicks either use him in ruck more or in another role to bring him into the game.
