The best I’ve seen us play away from home since 2017. Did not expect us to be pushing teams like Collingwood away from home this year. Our best is good enough, but with these few closes losses, might cost us a top 8 spot. However, I feel like a team needs to go through a season like this until they become true contenders, a bit like Collingwood having some close losses in 2021 and then winning them over the last 2 seasons.

This team is not far off, I’m excited.

Good
Proved we can play away
from home.
We can win on the G.
Almost won playing one quarter of good footy.
Tex.

Bad
Goal kicking. Those early misses cost us.
Lost a game because we only played one quarter of good footy.
Injuries.

Was at the game, heartbroken really, you just knew at the start of the 4th we weren’t going to win it…some terrible, terrible decisions made against us. Still don’t understand what the 50m was (and the crowd was completely silent because they didn’t know either)… Milera was woeful made so many costly mistakes

Yep milera stands out. Similar to Jake Kelly where the flow stops as soon as he gets it in pressure.

It’s like if you watch highlights of the game, you forget five scoring shots in the first quarter early.
yes, but this missed free would have been the last play of the day. Unlike any missed goals or previous frees, it wouldn't effect the game going forward except that the winner, in all probability, would have changed.

Milera woeful? Thought he won some absolutely critical contests under pressure and gave us good drive off half back
There were a few times where he tried to take too much time with the ball today, otherwise he was pretty solid

Our defence was all generally very good, a few lapses (particularly in that 2nd quarter) but that’s not where the game was lost

Good:
  • Third quarter comeback
  • Jordan Dawson in his 100th game
  • Walker with 5 goals
  • Laird
  • Hinge
  • Worrell had a lot of almost great marks and then finally took a great one running back. Just needs more games.

Bad:
  • Umpiring
  • Sholl - did he do anything good today? was terrible all game
  • Murphy - he ran hard but didn't have any effect on the game
  • Keays - should not be playing midfield again or tag anyone in the midfield
  • Keays ripping off Cox's glasses; thought it was uncalled for

Ugly:
- Our goal kicking in the first half

Definetly not uncalled for.

He's talking about his offensive game. Too often he doesn't think quick enough and then just runs in circles. He has to learn to be quicker with getting the ball on. As soon as he gets it through the middle it doesn't fill me with confidence.

I think McHenry’s gonna make it, he looked good today. Seems like he’s constantly in a sprint, hits up targets so well. If he was 185cm he’d probably be a jet.
The problem has been he looks good as sub. Then like the Lions game we play him a full game and he doesn't have the same impact.

We actually lost though Bearman.

That’s true, but it feels like it’s impossible to not reward getting 16 touches in a half of football (with most of them being impactful)

Feels like wing is his position, if he’s going to be in the side, and he grabbed that spot with both hands ahead of Sholl today (that said, I don’t think he’s a long-term fixture for us)

I’m a little pissed off that out team can always be so far off in midfield. I’ve seen at least six year of it. It’s demoralising.
