You don’t believe we’re on an upward curve?
Sitting 7-7, lost to the top team by a combined 3 points, beat the 2nd placed team, beat the 3rd placed team… anyone that doesn’t think we are on an upward curve will never be satisfied. As I said earlier, quite often a team has a season like this where they lose a few close ones against good sides, and then have the true breakout year in the next one. Time will tell, but this team appears to be on track for that.

Inconclusive. It was probably a goal. I wouldn’t bet my house on it though. Correct call is to defer to umpires call.

The frustrating part is on another day the reviewer may have called it a goal. Sometimes they give weight to the player reaction. If Rankine carried on like he knew it was a goal they may have given it.

Just another in a long list of AFL inconsistencies.
You don’t really rely on that vision for a win.

One day, Collingwood's famous last-quarter comeback will fail. Last year it happened in a preliminary final. * em - I hope it happens in a granny this time.
Just not against Port.

there is no way off the footage you could confidently say it was or wasnt a goal..

so the only option was to go back to the umpires call.

the no free for the head shot on Dawson and no in the back for laird were the bad calls.
Southerntakeover and I could confidently say it was a goal, because it was. It was telling that they reverted to the side-on shot when announcing that they couldn't tell! It was pretty clear from the front-on shot that the foot touched it last.

You also gotta get rid of the dead wood in your structure. To move on, like the ruck.

It wasn’t conclusive at all.

It’s not going to be looking the same in, say, two years time

There are obvious flaws in there at the moment, but they are fixable

Are they fixable with the players we already have on our list. I don't think so. I don't see that A grade young midfielder. I see a few pinch hitters who may have moments of brilliance but I don't see a midfielder 1 to 4. We need to beg, borrow or steal a A-grade midfielder this year. Our 3 best players will be 27, 30 and 34 in 2024. The clock is ticking.

27 Centre Bounces

22 Laird
21 Dawson
21 Keays
13 Sloane
3 Pedlar
1 Soligo

We did pretty well in the centre to be fair but there's little to no rebuilding going on in that part of the field.
Thats vomitworthy..

the CB’s were 13-10 our way.

the difference is when we win a CB its a usually a rushed hack kick forward from slaone, keays or laird.. unless Dawson manages to get it… that does our forwards absolute fxxk all favours.

whereas a CB win by the pies, a team with classy mids, goes to the advantage of their team mates up the field.

its so disappointing to see Nicksy just go back on his word earlier on in the year that our midfield has changed and that keays and sloane are out.. all a load of horseshit.

Nothings changed.. the club thinks sloane and keays are guns and will cling to them till the very end.

another year of lost development.

peds 3 and soligo 1. No rankine, no rachele?.. cant give one or two to Jones?.. hell, i’d even rather murphy in there over keays.

Pffffft. Disgusting.

Joke of a club, "close enough is good enough".

Unchanged next week, fail in the big moments again and again but we persist with the same midfielders who have failed us for years.
This is such a bad take.

We nearly beat the top side on their home deck, while being absolutely and comprehensively reamed by the umpires.

How do you take “joke of a club” from that?

Tex probably has two years left in him after this year, and Fog/RT will continue to improve. Then Welsh slots in for Tex in his second year

As for the midfield, the three names from our youth that usually get brought up aren’t close to their full potential yet (I’m confident all can end up somewhere between a B+ and A), but we probably need one more bonafide A or A+ grade mid to add to the mix, as well. How we get that player remains to be seen, but I’m confident it will happen
