Autopsy Positives and Negatives vs Bulldogs

When we are injury free, we have a pretty good list.

If you look at last nights side, we have about 12 players who aren't up to AFL level.
Maybe more.
Not sure of your 12, but Shuey is shot and we have a few other older slowing players. Of the others they are fringe players at best. We clearly miss leadership and organisation in Defence form Hurn - Gov and Barrass dont fill the gap.
We have one forward target in JD who is too short to be a true key - Allen shows promise but he was third tall, we are way short of the short of targets Geelong, Richmond and Dogs have.
I am not confident with the current list.

We lost the centre bounce 8-1 in the third quarter with Shuey, Redden and Kelly in there. How dumb is our ******* coach to keep playing the same old washed up players in there while continuously losing the centre clearances, while we have two contested inside players sitting on the wing & flanks?
I'm struggling to defend symmo anymore.

It's at woosha stubbornness Defcon 10 levels of stubbornness in his twilight years.

What's sad is when you're losing by 100+, you want to be getting games into your next pool of players.

But the reality is we didn't have any last night, other than Hough. All these are so called 'young players' are taking us no where.

It's quite sad, this has a lot of 2008 about it, with our list tbh. No young players who i look forward to watching.

The fact is, you're a few years away from competing when you have a few years of high draft picks. But the issue is, we haven't had those years of high picks. Which means we're a few years away from a few years away. Our first round pick hasn't even played this year.

Ahhh Shuey. Captain courageous worst captain in our club history at it again.

17 disposals, 5 contested... from 25CBA's.

A grader.

Meanwhile Clark playing the outside crab wing role gets 14 disposals, 9 contested from 0 CBA's.
I said long before but shuey should have stepped down long ago. There was outrage at that suggestion. How do you think morale is when your captain barely plays. It's a disgrace.

Oh, they were there last night, it’s just that they were squirrelled away on the half forward line watching the senior guys get their pants pulled down in the middle of the park.

I hope WC gets in touch with whoever the poor bastard was who drove 4 hours for that crap and shouts them a night at the Crown or something.

Adding Sheed, Yeo, OA, Ryan, Rioli and NN makes us a lot better.
Adding Culley and a few good draft picks will help.

Hopefully Chesser comes on as well.

Playing Gaff on ball and West & Clarke on a HFF are in his control.
Yeah that’s fair and I mentioned that there are definitely things that are his fault. But playing Clark and West on ball isn’t going to be changing the results, we’re getting hammered on the turnover, it doesn’t matter who’s starting centre square. It’s infuriating for sure but it’s not really a sackable offence. He’ll get the year because of covid and injuries, probably going to delay the rebuild process quite a lot unfortunately if he continues with the stubbornness. But I don’t think it’s fair to sack him based on this year’s circumstances.

We have a good starting point imo. Can’t really say with any certainty that of these are going to lead us out of the wilderness and they are relatively unknown at this stage but Culley, pick 1 or 2 and Chesser is at least something to look forward to and build on. Nothing is ever guaranteed, we don’t even know if Chesser can play mid yet, but I feel like that’s at least a good start.

We’ve already got the B grade role players sorted in Clark and West and guys like Hough are showing promise as well. Allen as the key forward and Edwards down back are also pillars to build on.

They could all flop or not become as good as we hope, but that’s the game. I feel like the foundations are there though to give it a crack.

From reports he was reluctant to keep the captaincy but the club persuaded him, like how they persuaded kennedy and hurn to continue.

I said at the time it was a mistake for those two to continue.

The reality as I see it is that:
Nic is on his last legs - a shaddow of his best and quite immobile making him a soft target.
Sheed is a reasonable outside mid at best but he is poor defensively which is an issue in the modern game
Yoe is unfit and will be forever with a broken body - he does bring good experience to build around in the short term while offering little leadership
Rioli - is fat and unable to run our a game. no signs of this changing but at his best he has X factor. lets hope
Ryan is soft and emotional - also will not train hard so will never he able to run both ways. This doesnt fit with the modern game.

Sure, but you're talking as if these guys need to be developed because they're our future. They're not our future. They're just filler until the cavalry arrives (draft picks).
We’re not putting 18 year old bodies in the middle all year to get wrecked. Like it or not guys like West and Clark will be our future for a while. And at the moment they’re better than what we have in there right now.

I half disagree. While I would like them to spend longer stints in the middle, I think they will always be filler. A fit Yeo, Kelly, and Sheed will be our main mids for a few years yet. Maybe Clarke can fill the Redden role? West is crabby. Can get the ball but he's a WAFL player.

It also depends on who we draft. If we draft Culley, does he get rotated through the midfield from the get go? War lord? Chesser? I think we still have 3 years of pain and replacing Yeo, Kelly, and Sheed with filler players like West and Clarke is neither here nor there.

But they still make a us a lot better side than what runs out there now.
