You realise we were missing our co-captain, CHB, and CHF, right?
Meh

Agree you weren’t exactly full strength either but Hogan is highly overrated and makes you too predictable against better defences. With Melksham and MacDonald forward I believe Melbourne is a better and more dynamic side without him.

And this will continue to plague us when we play quality sides until we get some quality midfielders.
Melbourne have put a lot of trade and draft currency over the last five years into addressing their midfield.
Their picks have delivered whereas ours have not.
Until we are successful in nailing some genuine midfielders we will be there and thereabouts , but we won't be genuine contenders.

I love your posting usually Monocle, but do you honestly believe we aren't contenders this year?

Ah Chee isn't up to it. Today was his last game for the club. He showed that he can't impact.

I've asked this before and you didn't reply to me; why do you only come on here after losses and sprout shit about our players?

To all the Chicken Littles: we can lose next week and still finish top 2 on %. The chances of us not finishing second are very low.

As for this game, once I'd stoped screaming my lungs out at the maggots from their bias/incompetence, I realised Eagles stuck in pretty well considering KD was down. Hopefully questions are asked behind the scenes in regards to that umpiring performance and they can clean things up come finals.

Any chance the flog that did JD gets suspended, or is that just the nic nat rule?
Sorry to disagree with your first statement, though we stand high chance to beat Brisbane next week.
We are only 0.1% and a game ahead of Collingwood. If we lost next week and Collingwood won, then Collingwood will have a higher percentage. Bear in mind 0.1 % is equivalent to about 1.7 points at the beginning of Round 23.( It will be as close as Collingwood won by one point and WCE lost by one point). In fact we are already behind the Collingwood in point/goal difference.

We will not win anything without Kennedy and Darling this year. With them back in the side we are definitely a chance.

We are being pushed enough as it is without Gaff, NN and Kennedy. That is our limit. Any more Best 22 injuries and we are ****ed.

And Collingwood will thrash Freo.

Also, blaming the umpires is Port and Freo territory- it's a losers game. Players make dozens of decisions and skill executions that are worse than anything the umpires do.

We were in the game even with our injuries and we weren't good enough. I actually thought we played pretty well but Melbourne beat us. That's footy hey?

It wasn’t even that bad. They put away the whistle for HTB and incorrect disposal, which is exactly what it will be like in finals.

You lot are pathetic and making us very easy targets for trolls

Don’t understand the knockers on Sheed, thought he was one of our better players.

Do you base that comment on how many times he got the ball , or on what he did with it.
Because being at the game I thought he got a decent amount of the ball , but his production , more specifically his decision making was very poor.
He is a momentum killer and that stifles our game plan badly, when he does things instinctively he is better player because when he try to think his way through a situation then by God he is ****ing woeful. I have said this before and been berated for it, never the less I stand by my opinion, but Dom's inability to use his right foot hurts his game and his effectiveness.

The umpiring was certainly perplexing today, to say the least. The AFL recently had a inquiry into the supposed "advantage" we receive, and I think today was symptomatic of their attempt to fix a non existent problem - the amount of non calls alone is testament to that fact. I'm guessing they instructed the Victorian based umps they brought in (also part of the "solution") to hold back on calling blantent frees, to lesson the amount of free kicks in the game and let it "flow" more.

This inadvertently had result of more non calls at crucial parts of the game. Anyway, that's enough tinfoil hat time for me.
No you’re not being a conspiracy theorist, it’s an actual phenomenon. Unbelievable that the AFL would bow to Vic media/coach pressure about “noise of affirmation” and send their hit squad of Stevic, Schmitt and whoever that #16 hack was to deliberately manipulate how the game is umpired. Margetts, Dagleish and Williamson have been barred from umpiring local games simply because they’re WA umpires. Absolutely farcical stuff from the administration of the highest level of the game.

You realise we were missing the players that made up the team that won 10 in a row including a 47 point flogging of Richmond right?
You had those players for most of the year and had to pull a win out of your arse with help from the umpires to make the finals
Plus we played a key forward down for most of the game
Stop pulling yourself cause you got 1 win against a top eight team.

The fact they have acknowledge there is potential bias in umpiring should force their hand to introduce neutral umpires.

It won't though cause VFL

An outstanding game of footy whuch Melbourne deserved to win. We played as hard as we could but were beaten by a better side on the day.

We are still in the box seat to get 2nd spot. If we cant beat Brisbane we dont deserve to finish 2nd. Was proud of the effort and intensity after the first 10 mins which were horrid.

Melksham won them.the game in the 4th ran Gov off his legs and exposed us out the back Hannan also important as well.

JK wont be back next week that is a load of crap if anyone believes he will.

If we play at the same intensity as today we finish 2nd no doubts at all up to the players now
