Review Positives and Negatives vs Essendon

+ Full credit to the coaches tonight. Completely shut down Essendons run. Tagging Saad was genius. Nailing the correct tagging targets for Hutch was one of the most underrated aspects of our flag win last year. First half of this year felt like we've been trialling different setups with Hutch no real defined role.

Omg the taxi!
Haha..I Know, I know, how could they, what's wrong with Perth, Putting a victorian in a taxi, they need to improve on this, it's not good enough...but wait let's interview the Don's medico-he says it's not serious enough to warrant an ambo, it might be a rib problem, or a wrist or concussion, we're not sure but thought it better to be safe than sorry, so we put him in a taxi...so what the hell are Duck and BT and Basilbrush being such histrionic drama queens for??? Yawn. tedium ad nauseam!

Since Round 3, Essendon have conceded an average of 20.7 scoring shots per game. We put up 36.

Short term, the bad goalkicking is infuriating, but long term it’s hard not the be impressed by our performance today (% aside).

I particularly liked that we played a small, quick, skilled bunch of crumbers against Woosh and showed him what they can do.
yep, it was scrappy and a lot of it lacked polish-blowing a bit of rust out? the big forwards took the heat...but what was up with JK's misses..tonsilitis? those small forwards should get smoother as we chug along..

Hutch, sterling job on Saad.
Who played fantasia footy on Orazio? Didn't hear/see it watching the telly. Shep?
Wasn't seen, although Bombers fwd 50's weren't much TBF.

-Guelfi not getting his damn Uber, poor kid had to take a Tricolour taxi
- Trial by media for McGovern but little on Bellends dodgy hit on Shuey
- Basils god awful puns
-Adopting the Ross Lyon gameplan of kicking behinds not goals
- Oscars kick in the ribs
- Gee we were really awful in front of goal that deserves 2 mentions

+ Ruining the statistic of Tippa only kicking goals in Essendon wins
+ Shots on goal show we outplayed them all over Scoreboard flattered thrm
+ Wooshas usual lack of plan B
+ Jack Redden nearly knocking Shiels block off
+ We won after a bye
+ Jarrod Cameron is gonna be a star
+ Dom Sheeds dardy left foot

+ Shep, Yeo Redden, Shuey, Sheed and Gov were very good
Hickey probably broke even in the ruck if not slightly ahead
Cameron did well
We won easily if not by a big margin

_ Darling wasn't great
Ryan turned a 4-5 goal game into a circus act.
JKs kicking was diabolical

+- Masten wasn't sighted in the first half, was ok in the second
Hutchings tagged well but burnt the footy when he had his chances
Nelson didn't screw anything up but he gets too much air under his kicks
Schoey is just hanging in there

I'm drunk and that was heart attack material at times, but god I enjoyed it!
We'll get on a roll now and snatch those percentages!
Barrass+NN back!
Those Vic commentators are just so condescending and so mindnumbingly tedious with their constant
meaningless dribble...and whose hand is up Basil's butt? -he's clearly loving it!!
Hey, well done Eagles, you kind of got there in a sort of semi-convincing way!!
Alls well that ends well!

Gotta be Sheed's best game I've ever seen. Just won everything, clean and quick hands. That goal. Hnng.

Redden just quietly building. Yah boi. Loved his dusty in the middle of the ground, so arrogant.

You can see why we missed our captain last week, just a solid A grade defender in every single way. Bombers players just randomly kicking and passing to him all night. Who doesn't love Bunga?

Let's not oversell how good we were here though, regardless of the scoreboard woes. Essendon were bloody awful for most of tonight. Great stuff by our boys, but this was not even close to a finals contenting side we put away tonight.

I don't understand all the melting going on around here - this was an exceptionally well-drilled and executed performance aside from some rather abject goal kicking.

Essendon's game was completely taken away from them. This was a coaching masterclass from Simpson over Woosha.

There are so many positives to take away from tonight: better balance, stoppage setups, turning the Bombers strength off half-back into their undoing, greater run, tackling intent and daresay, a forward press at times.

Seriously, 64 inside 50s (+24) and 36 shots on goal (+20). That is total domination.

There were some new things put into motion in this match and they came off very well.

We have also found another keeper in Cameron. Ryan, Rioli, Cripps, Petruccelle, Venables and now Cameron. That is some serious talent in support of the key forwards that is going to give opponents nightmares with their combination of speed, skill and pressure.

Always better to miss some easy shots this week when leading by 6 goals than do so next week if the game is on the line.

If the club keeps winning percentage won't matter anyway.

Cheer up, the fear is growing. The club have hardly even played four solid quarters in the same match this season yet are now inside the top four with Naitanui and Barrass on the cusp of returning.

Petch frustrates me because his finishing can really let him down at times. That snap he botched under no pressure from 35m was pretty typical but he'll be ok.
Think Ryan is in the same boat in that regards.

We actually showed some really good form and touch, except for our goal kicking. It was basically a 50 or 60 pt win on general play.

I agree with others that Allen needs a rest. He is out of form up forward but strangely he was going ok in the ruck centre bounces. I am pretty sure he is just as effective as Vardy in there.

I dont think the people bagging Hutchings watched the game that closely. He did magnificently on Saad. Saad literally cut us to shreds last year, bet the match committee rated Hutchings role very highly.
