Autopsy Positives and Negatives vs GC

This is what makes me think the unthinkable.

We have wasted our opportunity to build a team around a once in a generation player in Naitanui. Trade him and start again.
That's how you destroy the culture of a club and end up bottom half for a decade.

Whatever we might say about our club we're never out of the finals for long. Things can turn quickly, you shouldn't sell everything off in the hope of something better.

The two forwards who were most talked about needing to step up in Kennedy's absence were barely seen on the ground today.

I fail to see how Priddis was Worst on Ground in so many people's minds. He was not good, but there was no shortage of culprits ahead of him.
He wasn't the worst, Its more a culmination of a few weeks (or years for some) of frustration I think for many posters. Lecras wasn't good at all, he was played like 2009/10 when he could be a main target, but he clearly isn't capable of that anymore. Karpany should replace him.

Biggest positive is that the wallpaper over the cracks is no longer effective. Hopefully, the 3 losses in a row should trigger a change in approach and mindset.

One thing I don't understand about the web is playing off guys who are open in space like 15 to 20m down the ground. All it means it that a team that has foot skills up to WAFL/NEAFL/VFL/SANFL standard can just chip their way down the ground and get a forward 50. The web works if you're enticing the other team into kicking into a 1-on-2. It's not a bad system, but it doesn't seem like it's being employed right. You have to defend more closely on players that are closer to the opposing player who has ball in hand.

Long way to travel from Vic to see that
Couple of deliberate calls could have turned the game but the issues would still be there.

I still have hope for Darling but Lecca, Priddis, Emac, and Butler need to go at the end of the year/next game.

Bringing Cripps back early has been a blunder.

Take a lot to improve on last year's finals performance from here.....

It's incredibly easy and one out of every 10 teams across world sports that tries to bottom out comes back with roaring success. Don't worry about the other 9 that cripple themselves for years, that's not important right now.

Just look at the 76ers. They blew it all up, traded assets, languished at the bottom for years and now have nearly an entire team of top 3 picks. It worked in that example, so it will definitely work for us. Definitely.

A few positives, particularly Jetta.

Numerous negatives, nothing that can't be fixed at the selection table though.

Simpson is coaching for his future in the back half of this season, if we keep putting up games like today you'd have to pay him out for 2018 and start again. Hope it doesn't come to that because a new coach means clean slates all round and god knows our senior players don't deserve that.

Just a thought for those torching Priddis for that poor entry late in the game, yes he's struggling but the handball to Gaff was effective and Gaff had space to play on yet decided he couldn't kick on his right foot [as if his left is anything close to a weapon anyway] and got himself caught like an idiot trying to run around to the left. If Gaff wasn't a one dimensional spud Priddis probably could of argued he had a pretty good final qtr. Not to defend him too much though he can still GAGF

Not even mad, bro. Not even mad. Saw the loss coming since the first term, and only surprised by the margin.

Positives:

* Shuey showed some of his wares
* Nelson getting amongst it, even if he had some clangers
* Now a chance to get some more games into a few of the kids (eg: Magikarp) and hopefully cut some deadwood
* Less likely to rush back Josh/ Nic prematurely and risk re-injuring them needlessly

Negatives:

* Hurn is not a captain's a***hole
* Priddis is finally, finally done
* Softness pretty entrenched in the playing culture by the looks of a few players today. Gonna take a while to get rid of that...
* Eagle Vision is now on. I hate this show, especially after we lose. It makes us look arrogant and more interested in media presence than actually winning games.

Anyone flaming Darling is just a peanut.

Every game this season has seen the midfield comprehensively beaten. Even in the wins, the defence has been dominating and providing rebound. Thid midfield is the worst in the competition.

Priddis is cooked. Masten is cooked. Jetta is cooked.

The club needs to transition these players out of the side.

Has delivered exactly what we thought we were getting when we acquired him in his last two weeks. Seems an odd time to raise that one.

Masten didn't play. Not debating whether or not he's cooked, but he was transitioned out of the side today.

Jetta is cooked.
Sorry?

Positives

Sheed - Immense and I'm big on him. No fumbles and was strong at the contest. Needed a goal to cap off his day.
Petrie - Fantastic game for a 65 yr old. Really provides a contest.
Yeo - Outstanding year
Me - My tipping the GCS has me 5 clear in the office for the dolla dolla bills yall

Negatives

Priddis - Enuff said
Lecca - Cooked
Darling - Poor when we need the complete opposite.

Are you on a two week delay?

Hopefully LeCras was pondering his future when he was crouched down after the game. What a disgrace.
Darling put your hands out in front not at right angles so it can get spoiled. Be a man you campaigner.
Hurn does he have any grey matter between the ears?
Butler is garbage
Mackenzie is bin juice that a bin chook wouldn't drink. Who on the selection panel thinks he should play AFL? I don't care how good is WAFL is he should never play again. We have Thomas Barrass who is going to be a star.
Hutchings shouldn't play unless we have copious injuries.
We got beat by a pathetic team that wanted to lose. This isn't the outlier, we are also pathetic.
I expect a big list turnover this year and of players that have been so called regulars.

+ Sheed was excellent.
+ Jetta had another good game, I like him kicking in.
+ Petrie - who I don't rate at all, had a brilliant game. Happy to be proven wrong.
+ Mackenzie - While not great, I thought he had his best game for the club in a while. Did well to keep Lynch mostly out of the game. There's still a need for a backman that knows how to maintain body contact.

- Darling is just god-awful, he plays as if he weighs 40kg - it's like watching a slinky.
- Lecras is even worse, offers absolutely nothing.
- Priddis is gone and yet he seems the only player capable of extracting a football.
- Duggan is poor, hasn't shown a thing in 3 years.
- Cripps, Schofield, Butler, Hutchings, et al.
