Autopsy Positives and Negatives vs GC

My thoughts on Shuey are that he is a solid player and at times is capable of some pretty extraordinary games. However, i feel that at this stage in his career, and with his undeniable ability, he should be impacting games more decisively and on a far more frequent basis.

Are you on a two week delay?

Jetta isn't doing enough. He warranted keeping his spot in the side last week, purely as it was an improvement on his past performances, however his form and impact on the contest just isn't enough for a senior player. Sydney would have dropped him on last weeks form.... People on this board treat him like a young recruit, fresh out of high school.

If the club is accepting of his efforts today, then we may as well resign ourselves to dropping out of the 8 for good.

We kicked 11 goals and he was directly involved in at least 4 of them. That's not a 1:1 indicator of a good game, but Jetta was easily one of our best today imo. Whether that says more about his turned corner or our side is up for debate.

As for defending Darling? 0 goals in a game, in a side without JK. Shadow of his former self. Why should we back him up?

Anyone flaming Darling is just a peanut.

Every game this season has seen the midfield comprehensively beaten. Even in the wins, the defence has been dominating and providing rebound. Thid midfield is the worst in the competition.

We had more clearances and more i50s than GC today. I know our midfield is rubbish, but I stingy think Darling can report on that excuse today.

Shuey was only 2nd to Yeo in our first handful of games and has only been average in the last month. It's definitely something like an injury. He would be adapting to the changing centre layout too. Playing a lot of different guys there now.

Devoid of confidence
No urgency
Reactive
Too often prepared to watch an opponent go at the ball rather than attack it yourself
Poor skills below the knees
Wrong structure with talls - didn't need 3 KPDs but needed an extra tall up forward
Slow ball movement and not prepared to take risks
No tackling pressure

I've been supportive of the club in recent weeks but there needs to be a change in attitude and direction because that was putrid today. Worse than the Essendon and Hawthorn games because at least those sides played well. Any competent side would have beaten the Suns today but we were just inept

Thought Sheed was fantastic today and Jetta at least looked like he gave a shit
Petrie stood up in the last quarter

Negatives: Biggest issue is the lack of a crumbing forward and our midfield. Thought Gaff and Priddis were equally very poor and don't think SMitch and Shuey were really that good. I mean there was that one centre clearance with Mitchell streaming into space and laces it out to a Gold Coast chest. And don't think I saw Shuey hit up anyone in the forward line. Neither of them were as damaging as you expect them to be. Duggan, just because he hasn't really progressed and that is really concerning for us. Often misses easy handballs, kicks up and under, fumbles, is not quick or strong. He is tough but we need to see more glimpses for him. Seeing Scott Selwood and Ebert return to form.

Positives: At the minute we only really have a few winners, Yeo, McGovern, Hurn (rarely ever get's beaten in a one on one and considering he is a defender that's pretty good), Jetta (for the past 2 weeks) and Sheppard has been a lot better since the Port game. Darling tried hard and thought he crashed a lot of packs and to be fair brought to ball to ground a lot, problem is we never have someone at the drop of the ball. Also when he brought the ball to ground he also was the first to lay a tackle when inevitably it was a GWS player crumbing the pack. Big Drew Petrie was impressive but what do we gain from playing him long term?

Priddis is cooked. Masten is cooked. Jetta is cooked.

The club needs to transition these players out of the side.

You are trippin' mate. Darling is ****ing putrid. And Jetta has been in the best players for the last two weeks. Not sure what game you're watching.

Really, thought Jetta was obviously superb last week but even this week was often in the pack hard at it like I've never seen him before. Won a lot of hard ball - he's playing a bit more like Daniel Wells over the past two weeks

Mackenzie was a champ for the club and unlucky not to be AA at least once, but the game's beyond him now. Not even worth retaining as depth.

Again, I thought he played a good game I thought. How many did T Lynch kick? For a change didn't see hime lose many one on ones if any, didn't turn it over with his usual shocking kick. Thought he was decent.

I think it just shows how good JK is. I mean how many times did McGovern touch it when he went forward and keep in mind that was the only time our midfield really get on top - first ten minutes or so of the fourth. Playing key forward when your team is constantly being beaten in the middle must be very difficult

Could've been worse.

We could have played dumb, disinterested football for three quarters, and then came out in the last and show some class to jump out to a comfortable lead, only to revert to shit for the last 5 minutes and hand the opposition a victory.

Right?

Right?

Must be annoying for you when the rest of the world is continually out of step.

Sure, there is the delivery from the midfield which is ordinary but when he actually is in a position to contest the ball he continually either a)falls over, b)appeals for a free kick or, c) falls over and appeals for a kick at the same time. He doesn't apply enough defensive pressure. Did you see in the last quarter when he was on the far wing? He went for a grab, fell over and then started writhing around on the turf like some kind of speared tuna fish that's been hauled in onto the deck of a boat, whilst clutching his forehead. Two minutes later he was in the goal square - where he fell over again. Not to mention regulation chest marks that just bounce of his chest - that was nothing to do with delivery. His endeavour and intent are very questionable imo.

Look, I don't dispute the guy has bucket loads of talent, but he just does not deliver on it - and he hasn't for several years now. Needs a spell in the twos at the very least. I'm more than happy to see him traded and if he succeeds at another club, all power to him. Right now the arrangement is not working for either party.
