There were many highlights that game and I wasn't as pessimistic as those posting in the game day thread (just enjoying having footy back in its regular 20 minute quarters).
However, the absolute highlight for me was the second bounce which Naitanui hit Redden on the chest with a perfect palm, received the ball back and floated the most exquisite 20m handball to Kelly who didn't have to break stride.
It was, as Dwayne Russell would say, "poetry in motion".

Man I live for the day we get a fit and firing Yeo, Shuey and Kelly roving to the big Fijian

It’s such a shame we’ve never been able to get all these blokes on the field for very long at a time. Those 3 roving to NN who then in turn have the double threat of Ryan and Willie to support and they have 3 tall options to pick from. The backline would be out of a job.

I do have idea of ruck craft and there were numerous taps that nic put straight down or forward that resulted in GC mids getting first hands on the ball, which is probably in large part to having Yeo and Shuey out. He still did some fantastic things like our second goal and the palm to Cripps but wasn't as dominant as he was in 2020, hence why I said nullified.

ONeill reminds me a lot of a young Shuey. Hopefully he stays relatively injury free.

We have lost the confidence and/or ability to kick 45 deg passes. Prefer to go around the back.

Now I understand the need for possession but I was amazed the number of times there was a man in the middle (45 deg) free and who wasn’t even seen or considered as an option out of defence.

There were quite a few opportunities presented and now taken which could have cut Suns to ribbons.

The team had a total of only 38 inside 50's and they had 71 for 30 scoring shots. While Petch might not be setting the world on fire at the moment that performance in the wet is one of the best performances by an 8 game player ever.
