Review Positives and Negatives vs Sydney

Positives:
Finally winning against the Swans. It's been too long.
Barrass had a respectable first game.
Our ruck dominance. Sinclair had arguably his best game.
Sheppard starting to become a favourite of mine. Plays out of his skin nowadays.
No Dermott!!!!

Negatives:
Some of our kicks going out of bounds.
Hill has been not as dominate as of late. Today was no exception.
We started to let them back in. But I guess that can be credited to Sydney going up a notch.

+ Even with injuries their midfield was full strength and we smashed it
- Our forwards and forward entries were pretty poor - esp in q2 and a3
- Schofield injury
+ Barrass looked reasonable
+ Sheppard is immense - may need to take on Lynch next week

Actually think Jetta's celebration was a positive for me. Was good to see him showing some passion and standing up for a teammate.
This x6000. Don't want him for cost vs benefit reasons, assuming we'd have to throw a bit of money at him and I think he'd be fringe best 22 depending on where Simmo would want to play him, but it was nice for someone to seem to give a shit. People can't lament the state of the game with one breath then oppose someone having some fire and passion with the next.

Shuey with a game high for centre clearances, bounced back after last week.
Shep and Wellingham have been amazing this year, they play both tall and small, and use their pace and skill very well.
Kennedy has perhaps the worst run with umpiring of all time, can't buy a free kick most weeks.
Nic and Yeo taking big marks.

The biggest thing I got out of the game.

Our midfield is matching the big boys now.

Bodes well for us come finals.

I would have booed that scumbag too. An absolute flog he is.
A flog who stands up for his side, his beliefs, his culture?

Who on the field has had some amazing contests against us in the past, some great moments of Judd v Goodes.

Is a duel Brownlow medalist and future hall of fame member who's been a face for football in NSW.

Absolute flogs who continue to boo him, and are clearly brainless sheep following the crowd.

The bloke is a sniping self-righteous tool. I will counter your post by saying the following:

He has several incidents of thug acts on the field and gotten away with them because he is the northern states pin-up boy for the AFL

When he found out that a racist call from a fan was actually from a 13 year old girl, he didnt see her immaturity for what it is, and instead vilified her.

He got Australian of the year... for what?

He hid behind aboriginal heritage do incite Carlton fans at a game earlier this year.

I couldnt give a stuff about his exploits. He is up there with Cousins for being a total douche bag.

Anyway...

Positives.
We smashed their midfield!! Even with the talk pre-game that they'd nullify NN, he absolutely dominated along with Sinclair.
They were pretty hard at the contest and we stood up - a common failing in the past.
Not allowing them an inside 50 for half an hour is amazing! Nothing to do with no Buddy, that is just domination!
Hurn stood up well early, took the game on, directed traffic and created well from HB.
Kennedy was down, but others stood up, Darling early, Le Cras for a bit, Sinclair. Plus the midfield provided goals and created well.
Lots of good shepherding, over lapping run and helping out of teammates, was good to see everyone was switched on in a big game.
Barrass debut was very good, some poor kicks, but he'll get better, didn't look out of his depth.

Only negatives were letting our guard down start of the 4th, end of the 3rd.
Also allowed Reid to get free in the 1st, got lucky he's a spud.
Hopefully Schofield is OK.

No i thought he was a flog from the moment he said months after a girl called him an ape, that he couldnt sleep at night because of it. Absolute flog. He either has the most delicate feelings in the world and grew up in a bubble of soft fluffy cotton balls, or he is full of shit and a flog

Don't think we handled the run-with player on the outside too well at times, mostly when they looked most dangerous. Not sure if that's based on the volume of run-withs they had though, seeing as the guy with the ball was the front-most Swans player most of the time. They really did butcher their ball movement.

Was just getting annoyed at the little dicky handballs that would lead players into space outside of tackle zones, even if they didn't do too much more with the ball at any time.

Love Wellingham with the ball coming out of defence. Doesn't overcommit to the ball most of the time when its on the ground and instead plays it to advantage, even if he doesn't look like the hero. Does so many small, unnoticed things, so well. Similar to Sheppard.

Very annoyed lack of motivation in the third, even if the game was sewn up.

Sinclair's goal going through was great to see.

Loved seeing Jetta pissed off (As much with his teams performance and the idea of pumping up the rest of the team), and didn't have much of a problem with it. Was always a problem with the Crowbots as good as they were. Just bemusing that it came when they were 40 down. Loved the whole thing.

+
Midfield and forwardline dominant
Backline very solid (Shep and Wellers killing it)
Got challenged, absorbed it then kicked away
Everyone playing their role, Simmo has this team firing.
Barrass got some exposure and his first win, will only get better.
Pridda could go back to back.
NN is a beast, if we make it to the big dance, he will win it for us.

-
Switched off at times, good teams like the Hawks will kill us.
Schoey injury?
Hill poor again (refuses to compete) hope Muzza can force him out.

+
Wellingham on Goodes
Sinclair's game
Sheppard
Nic's tap work

_
Masten's kicking...he's better than that
Hill...Needs to do more
JK needs to stop dropping his head when going for marks
Selwood...does it really matter if he leaves? He does not fit in our game plan, Lamb is a better option for us next year.

He got Australian of the year... for what?

Adam is proud of his Indigenous heritage, and is actively involved with several Indigenous sport and community programs. He has spent time working with troubled youth, including those in youth detention centres. Together with his cousin and former teammate Michael O’Loughlin, Adam established the Go Foundation which empowers the next generation of Indigenous role models in all walks of life. Adam co-chairs the foundation, focused on promoting education, employment and healthy lifestyles. Adam is a great role model and advocate for the fight against racism both on and off the field and is admired by a great many people around the nation.

Good enough for you?

Here is the list of others: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Australian_of_the_Year_Award_recipients

If you can't find a few that are far less deserving than Goodes I'd be surprised.
