Seems to have become a bit of an escaped goat with some weirdly criticising him today. I thought it was a massive step up and encouragingly was because he got to play in his best role. Primed to take Fyfes spot when needed
I think there were a couple instances today where he would’ve been pinged in other games but wasn’t because the umps let everything go. I don’t think he’s been bad this season but he definitely looked a lot more comfortable today playing inside.

Agree. Definitely looked better playing that role. But as said few times he could of released the ball sooner or taken the first option that could of continued the run on...

In his last 4 games Treacy has kicked 3, 2, 3, 4. That's very good form for a modern day KPF.
And just dominated doing it as well, no goal square gimmes, contested marks or marks on the break

I really hope some mids with speed and outside class, or small forwards are worthy of a first round by the end of the year.

At the moment, there is not too much.

I am still of the opinion we should keep 2 but our hands may be tired if the first round is just full of mids.

Based on Davo's draft board, the top 3 forwards will go 10, 24 and 29 at the moment.

Best 3 by position and 5 mids (unlucky to miss)

KPF: Jobe Shanahan, Jonty Faull, Tyler Welsh (Jack Whitlock)
KPD: Harry O'Farrell, Luke Trainor, Zaydyn Lockwood (Noah Mraz)

Mids: Finn O'Sullivan, Levi Ashcroft, Josh Smillie, Leonado Lombard, Jagga Smith (Sid Draper)
Wings: Taj Hotton, Xavier Lindsay, Lucas Camporeale (Lucas McInerney)
Rucks: Kayle Gerryn, Flynn Penry, Zac Harding

Forws: Josh Murphy, Isaac Kako, Benny Barrett (Joe Berry + Jesse Dattoli)
Defs: Tobie Travaglia, Louis Montgomery, Austin Van Der Struyf

That is interesting to know and seems like bad timing for us but things always change by the end of the year. I don’t follow the draft particularly closely but there are always bolters. Also, from what I know about Freo we are quite happy to draft best available even if it’s not a desperate need, which is never a bad idea in all honesty. So if we have 2 picks, best forward + best available, while using one pick for Baker/Mcdonald etc, seems like a solid strategy.

I think we get 3 picks between 8 and 14, which is not much of a spread so we will probably need to reach for a player or two. Agree, hopefully a few come up the draft rankings late in the year.

It was a solid win...

I said during the week, dockers have historically won a few games vs richmond at the MCG. But never really thrashed the tigers.

Prior to this game, our biggest win vs the tigers at the MCG was by 20 points in 2014 when Ballantyne kicked 6 and freo won 16.9.105 to 12.13.85.

Yeah I was slightly nervous at 3 quater time despite dockers leading 8.11.59 to 4.11.35. I feared a similar outcome of 2017 when we lead 9.5.59 to 5.5.35 at 3 quater time. I feared a tigers fight back and a close game.

We won 15.13.103 to 6.13.49. I was and still am Happy with the result. I wont complain.

a 20-30 point win on cruise control with 6 minutes to go would of been fine.

Traecy in that Final quarter was brilliant with those 3 goals. Hayden Young up forward was random but he kicked 2 late goals as well.

The midfield was good, the back line was very good.

Yes Richmond had key players out and look like a bottom 6 side in 2024 but yeah, for freo to make finals, we need to win away games vs bottom 6 teams.

Really professional overall - had our moments.

Start of the third was poor and we continue to over possess, however you can't really be disappointed with that.

The best part for mine is the fact that we won that on the back of our younger core players performing and not having senior players like Fyfe, Walters and O'Meara contributing changed nothing in terms of the outcome.

We are looking great going forwards into the future. A couple of extra mature bodies and a bit more pace/explosiveness in the forward half and we are set for a fair crack at a flag over the next 5 years.

Not sure what you are on about, Fyfe, OMeara and Walters didn’t win the game off their boot, but they definitely all contributed

As a side we are in an n between stage of maturity. Lots of upside, and some of that barely more than a new seed planted (Simpson), and others bearing fruit, Treacy the prime example this round.

Also got some old stagers in decline, which is where Walters sits.

I like how they are managing Fyfe, and I hope that's what is happening with Darcy. I like how they are managing Simpson.

Personally I'd drop Simpson back now after the taste he has had. Keen to get some more games into some other saplings.

And I'd manage Walters. Not necessarily the next game, and I thought he was ok against Richmond. But I don't see him as sub material.

Old heads later in the year are good value.

Solid win. Did what we had to do against a team lacking some key components. Can't complain at all.
Next week is a far bigger test bit we did the job today, so very happy.

In his last 4 games Treacy has kicked 3, 2, 3, 4. That's very good form for a modern day KPF.

Three short of his entire year in 2023.

So glad we extended him, this was always his trajectory and he'd be starring at another club while we get laughed at

Dunno what to say. Easy in the end but should have been out of sight at HT.

We really need more from our smalls. Maybe show them footage of prime Ballas, Sonny, and Chopper so they know what they need to do pressure wise. Too many times Richmond waltzed it out too easily when the ball hit the deck.

Skills let us down at times but what is new. Hospital handballs are still a problem. I know we want to use the hands to get away from stoppage but sometimes a hack kick forward is better than passing to a teammate who gets drilled straight away.

I'm happy for Johnno. That is 2 good solid games in a row from him now. He is starting to justify his place in the team.

I think the midfield mix is probably about right but the wing opposite Sharp could do with more pace. I really want to see Stanley there or even try Simpson to get him some of the ball. He has shown in his limited possessions that he is class by foot and we could really use that going inside 50.

Something is seriously wrong with Amiss. His goal kicking has gone to absolute s**t and he is being out bodied way too easily. I lost count of how many times he hit the deck although one of those times was a clear free that wasn't paid due to Treacy taking a mark.

Treacy is THE guy. * your Logan McDonald bullshit off now please.

It might just be me but I think the commentators massively overrated Luke Ryan's game. 39 disposals but I don't think he really impacted the game all that much. Even from a defensive stand point he didn't have his usual influence.

Sonny is done. Say what you want Sonny defenders but he is cooked so damn bad. He is a complete liability and is continually costing us more goals than he is providing.

The deliberate against JOM in the last quarter was a massive joke. I have long thought those should be paid but you can't pay one and let the other 100 you will see across a weekend of football go.

If we want to beat Sydney next week we need to play much better than that.
Sharp has been faultless in his role since coming in
Amiss is getting smashed by opposition defender wen in week out, Cyclone is the beneficiary of this, see stats

Was at the game today.
Walters - his only value at the moment is set shots.
Emmett - needs to continue the pressure but find an offensive persona
Treacy - Beast, combo with Amiss and Jackson means one of them is going to get it
Johnson - took advantage of Fyfe being sub. Exactly want we wanted to see.
Defense - solid
JOM - stop gap
Walker - gets better every week

Bonus - 100+ pts, fck you David King

Just got to site, had a shower and dinner, ready to watch the game.

Hmm, your not really watching or understanding are you?

I'm actually warming to O'Meara a bit. Seeing that table showing that he was in the top few for average speed for the match is good stuff for a winger. Sharp always outruns everyone but if JOM is cruising up and down at decent pace (obviously he doesn't have any burst speed these days) he's doing his job. He's always tidy with it & makes good decisions.

The alternatives are pretty interesting too, play Banfield as a full-time winger and add another forward (bring in Sturt or keep fast tracking Simpson) or even play JOM as a permanent forward. Maybe try Delean as a sub for a quarter?

Personally I would be looking at making Jackson a winger in the Blicavs style. He's much more effective around the stoppages and in transition than as a forward.

Not much to dislike about that today.

Enough stepping up for a big day like Treacy, Young and Ryan but across the board even those having a quieter day hit the mark when needed like Amiss, Draper and Banners.

Hard to think of who really had a bad day today and although they're not there yet, at some point this could really be our strongest and most even team ever.

At one point I noticed Richmond was 1.7 (13) and I mentioned to my son that that was Fremantle's total score after one of our tougher defeats, and I am still scarred from the most recent 3 loses... and the 25 years before that, but you know, we could be a contender.

She also said after the game “a rare win for Freo at the MCG”, WTF we have won 4 of our last 5 at the G

as part of Politcal correctness the commentary team has to include a cetain number of ladies, sadly they chosen one that is not gifted with commentary skills or football knowledge. i would suggest gettign her to practice on junior leagues for a year or so, and then try again. Find some of the ladies who recently retired from playing AFLW and give them a go.

let's see how we go against top 8 teams before speaking of contending. maybe we are , maybe we not
