Not really sure we pick on merit / form. VB was hardly knocking the door down, but CEY / Grigg in the best players each week. Henderson only played 1 good game b4 going in . What about Wigg?
Do any of us really know if Wigg is ready ? .....we want to see first hand, but is that more out of curiosity ?

If Greene plays on VB we are going to be shredded like paper, but my supercoach will benefit I spose :/

Gold Coast was good for Douglas who was worse than Crouch in those two games
I agree that Douglas was worse and that's probably the source of a lot of people's frustrations. All I want is for people to be measured by the same standards. If I was Brad, I would feel confused.

Pykey said something a few weeks ago, and I reckon its the first thing he's said that I've been really disappointed in.

I think it was along the lines of "You need to reward those players who have done a lot for the club over a long period of time".

Although I get the sentiment, I disagree with the philosophy and question the message it sends to the younger players, especially when he was essentially saying that Douglas performances in previous years was what saved him from being dropped.

He didn't really say that did he

At some point Brad needs to produce some sort of evidence of the quality that he's always taken to be.

If you watched him prior to him being injured (so 2013-14) you'd would of seen more than a shred of evidence that he has that quality.

This is a kid that came 2nd in the rising star despite only playing half the games, and nearly won our BnF only playing half a season in 2014. If only he wasn't so damn injury prone.

I haven't been complaining about their opinion, I just don't like negativity in these threads week after week. Arent you just complaining about my complaining now? I think they've got it wrong by leaving Matt Crouch out and VB in, but it's out of my control and not something worth losing sleep over.

There's been plenty to get excited about this year, I think we've made some good steps forward as a club after losing our best player. I hope we are aggressive again this off season and nail a player like Neale, if we do we can contend next year.

C'mon man, you have to admit you are always happy with what the club does. Fine, but don't pretend otherwise.

I doubt the club would be as pleased internally as you externally

The only problem with Brad Crouch is that his coaching staff has no ****ing clue how to manage him. Clearly they are a group of proven mediocre decision makers, who are very fortunate to have one of the more loyal supporter bases who just pay their money and do not complain.

But he has been injury prone. And he hasn't developed as a result. And hes so far from that form now that it's not funny, and there's actually no guarantees that he's capable of recapturing it.

How long does he get to eat on performances from then?

The same coaching staff that this board was canonising a few weeks ago when I was critical of our big game losses?

This is fantastic.

There are times when the club has actively renounced things that BACCS was still supporting until the day they renounced it. Sandomania was still running wild for instance

I'm still waiting for the mea culpa about that one tbh. If the club's always right, what happens when the club has said that the club was wrong?

It's that sort of paradox that keeps me up at night. That and wondering if Jesus could beat up batman.

So far away ago that I'm no longer willing to accept the blanket assertion that he's a gun who deserves special treatment.
It's been hard for him to show it given how injured he's been over the last 2 years.

But you saw it. The rest of the league saw it. He is quality. We don't have any young mids on our list who have ever showed that same quality, if we are going to give anyone special treatment it should be him. We need him to get it back.

i cant speak for everyone here.......fact is the majority of that staff have been there for the last 3 coaches.
Brad Crouch does not deserve to be treated differently but the way they have dicked with him this year omg! they bring him back after one week for the very tough games then they drop him against GC, a chance for him to actually have a bit of a run and get his confidence up! it does not matter how many games he plays in the SANFL he will always destroy there, wont need to get off second gear......

Fundamentally speaking our club are still gits.

Members voting rights or nothing.

I'm aware there isn't any guarantees, however Brad with minimal development (He was injured for half of 2013 and 2014 too) has already shown he is capable of a level of play that is higher than most of the players on our list. That isn't the worry here.

You have touched on it though, the worry is those injuries could have caused him to regress. Unfortunately the only way to find that is to get him match fit, and up to speed in AFL conditions without him breaking down.

Herein lies the problem, from round 6-8 we made the mistake of playing an underdone Brad. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't as he has proven that even at such a reduced state he is a level above the SANFL. I agreed with the decision to rush him back despite it ended up being a mistake as it was us trying to get him up to speed as quickly as possible and to get our best midfield out on the park quicker.

Now it's time for him to rebuild a bit, and hopefully we'll have an answer to your question come the end of the season.

Neale is going to stay with freo, he never had any intention of leaving and was just upping his price! We will need a lot more to contend than 1 player in the offseason! Hope Don Pyke starts manning up and starts to develop some players instead of playing washed up talent otherwise his tenure is going to be as long as sanderson's!

My point is that I'm not as sure as you that 'quality' is an innate trait that can't be lost.
