The Great:-
The win !

The good
Gawn backed up his previous effort, possibly BOG.
Our midfield looks really really hard.
We are using Watts well.
We are building a team that has Key Position Players.

The Fugly
Toumpas is not delivering.

Nathan Jones
Jack Watts
Lynden Dunn
Jeremy Howe

Redemption.

For the first time I feel like we've buried something. I feel like 186 was, if not wiped, at least lessened tonight.

Saw this WTF moment posted on the Cats board:

Good: Angus Brayshaw. This kid could not possibly have done more to impress on his first dozen games. He did a Selwood today and willed us across the line. No need to wonder who our next skipper will be.
Gawn - best game I've seen him play by miles. His mobility looks so much better. Was BOG in the first half.
Bernie: 37 possies and a clutch goal. Huge. Would have had him BOG bar Gus.
Viney: ****ing epic effort on Selwood. Lion heart.
Watts: loved his game. That's three weeks in a row he's bought effort and intensity. Something has clicked. I think it's the beard.
Tyson: A step forward today.
Spencer: was excellent in the ruck with Gawn. Think those two were hugely influential in the result.

Bad: Toumpas was no good today. Has a few more of his trademark 'Toumpas' moments.

Fugly: that **** rag Dwayne Russell's commentary on Fox. He was outright barracking the entire game. Should never commentate a game involving Geelong.

great win guys :thumbsu:

I was withdrawn to the fact our team would struggle to make finals after I watched us play in round one and although I did feel we'd win today, Melbourne was simply brilliant.
Certainly a team on the rise. So much talent coming through and most of all, you appear to have exactly the right teacher to get most out of that talent in Paul Roos.

Great win and exciting times ahead.
Was actually disappointed Hogan was not playing as I would have liked to see him out there.

Praise for Dawes today? By no means his biggest fan, and he still looks injured, but Good Lord he was clean.

Only game on the Sunday (so a game for all to see)...at Skilled...Enright's 300th game....that's just a massive win.

If we keep this core of young players together, we'll truly be a force to be reckoned with.

There are a good handful of Melbourne players I'd be willing to turn for at this stage.

That was a win for the ages. Considering the recent history, the occasion and the late out I was expecting a slaying.

If i could name just one, it was Viney. Inspirational effort, gave back everything that Selwood dished out. ENJOY!

Anyone see Hogan in the rooms? I saw Trengove and Grimes. Wondering if they let him go back to WA early ahead of the bye?

Football is a funny game. Last week after the game I was close to inconsolable. This week I was chirpy and loving footy enough to make my mate watch the replay of the final quarter of Port vs Carlton with me. Life is just brighter when we win.

Nothing bad. Enjoy it.

I also want to follow up on this, and say that spencer was excellent today. Clunked a few, kicked a goal, laid tackles, and basically did his job to (near perfection).

Great:
Yesterday I was on hand at the local footy after a shit start to the season from my boys who lost their first nine games, and then ended it with their first win of the season. Today just tops the whole lot off. Best weekend ever.

To the game then:
Big Max took us back to 1991
Vince is having the best three weeks of his career - averaging 37 touches
Brayshaw is amazing
Viney's job on Selwood
ANB was fantastic
Dunn was great on Hawkins
Kicking 100+ with no Hogan and Dawes failing to hit the scoreboard
Accuracy - 18.5
Skip was amazing

Bad:
TMac had a stinker, Toumpas was quiet

Fugly:
The weekend is over

Thanks mate.

Great win guys. Really deserved it. Jones is the player who most of all deserves to bask in that win. Wouldn't be too many fans of any club who would begrudge him this moment.

Maybe we should reverse jinx more often. Whaddaya think?! ;)
I was accused of this early in the week when I said we were gettable, no rucks, Selwood our only MF, and that your blokes are more talented than most of your supporters realise.
Was there to witness a team that is def on the up, this could be an era changing win.
Anyway, congratulations, very good 4Q effort, last Q so meritorious given your game last Sunday and we played Fri pm.Pity we didn't get to see the Hogan show, but sadly, I really expect Demons to set up a new winning streak against us.

I hope deeco and schmutt will be humble in victory.

I even thought dawes did his job today. Did a lot of grunt work up the ground, and was sent into the centre bounce once, where he won the clearance. Just as long as hes understands to stay away when we send the long ball to hogan, howe, gawn, pederson, job done.
On a final note, can anyone fault roos after todays game? One of the best coaching displays you will see all year!

I think much of the accolades must go to our mental preparation after last week's loss as well as game day. Roos has had a very good week.
