There won't be anywhere to hide Saturday night if we put in a pathetic display.

It depends. Swans are top of the ladder and an injury hit Crows will struggle against a firing team to stay in the match. So I can tolerate a five goal loss where its just a difference of class. Not a lot Nicks can do there. But if the effort is lacking, we dont really walk out with a winning intent, thats on Nicks.

But for starters there was some players jogging on the spot against Richmond and if that happens again, well Nicks will have all sorts of issues. There was no dominating team last year, so it was a relatively even competition. I think we will genuinely get a chance to see how Nicks side fires against a powerhouse.

For the record, Swans have 20 players on the list from 2020 and just 12 players from the 2020 side that beat us in Nicks first side. They lost Aliir, Kennedy and Dawson from that team. Franklin didn't play but he is also out of the squad.

It's the fact he is even thinking about having Billy as the sub is the problem - see Nicks quote when directly asked.

Did you miss the quote from Nicks when asked if Dowling will be sub?

His reply "It depends, there are so many what ifs up in the air".

Now if you were in Billys shoes and had finally got a crack after having to watch Ned, Murph, Smith etc spudding it up all season and you played pretty well.

Wouldn't you hope your coach backs you in?

Nicks could have said "we were really pleased with how Billy went in his first game, we'll be backing him in again this week".
I was referring to their selections it’s just baffling to understand whats their thinking

My money was Dowling being subbed at 3qtr time but Strachan went down. But I'm certain Dowling was the one going to be subbed. Probably gun shy after the Curtin half time debacle.

Just get Murphy and McHenry out. Sick of seeing tweedle pressure and tweedle shape in the team!
I've tried. I really have tried to limit the amount of criticism of these two, but enough's enough.

At some point in the vast expanse of time I was warming to Murph but whatever he showed back then to stir those misguided thoughts have vanished.

However, I have proof in my posting from the outset that my thoughts on McFrenzied, unchanged as of now, were spot on. - Undersized. Underskilled. Underpaced. Overmouthed.

And selecting him whenever, for whatever fanciful 'role', among other things, reflects the dodgy state of the current list, the drafting and coaching of the AFC.

No-one's mentioned Himmelberg. Is he any chance of playing? Surely he can put on the Neville 'Rocky' Roberts headgear and inspire the team to greatness.
Himmelberg is the sort of player who opponents can get slack on and he'll pop up with a couple of goals.

If Keane is dropped, it will be close to the last straw for me. Performs week after week. One of the positives in our really shitful season.

Funny how we started the season worried for KPD depth, now we are trying them forward because we cant fit them all in the side and they are hard to drop whilst performing. Didnt we even potentially bring Burgess over as a defender but left hand isnt talking to right?

I also was quite sure they were going to sub Dowling last week and he only got saved by Strachan going down.
Well Maffew “paint by numbers” Nix is incapable of on the spot thinking, so the sub would definitely have been a premeditated change with all probability that Dowling was the premeditated choice.

Who will ever forget the Soligo sub out because they’d premeditated that one, despite the guy being on fire throughout the game up until that point.

Zero flexible thinking in the coaches box.

I think Nicks has already alluded that he has some leaders not performing.

Dowling to the guts, Laird to the backline on papley and Smith unfortunately not dropped but sub.
Walker for Burgess
Rankine for Murphy
Ryan for Jones (playing half back with Hinge or Nank to the wing)

I'm not sure why we brought Burgess over, back or forward. At the time I rolled my eyes and reckon the eye roll was spot on. He might sneak under the radar for a couple of goals at times but other than that he's purely stop gap.

If reports are true, we seem to be into Petty from Dees big time. If that happens, reckon I'm done.

You're dreaming if you think Ryan is anywhere near ready for a game against the current Premiership favourites. Not a snowflakes chance in Hades of that happening.
