Peak Tex wasn't just hitting the scoreboard, he was getting it near 20 times and distributing forward too. Having re-watched, I don't think he was running further than the uninjured norm, I reckon his managed preseason just left him a quarter short. I'm hoping this is a full season plan that has him in best nick possible when it matters. The nagging concern I have is that 300 games is a huge milestone and it may apply some pressure to decision making.
Agree re the running , prettt impressive to be at his sort of norm at 34 . Smart to keep giving him breaks where they come up , hoping that continues

I also think there will be days where TT and Fog are well held and he has it in him to really hit the scoreboard and step up , as long as he stays fit and fresh

I believe he did yes, Pedlar was the one everyone was talking about though.

Which is also pleasing.
Good to hear.
I still have hope that Pedlar (who looked like he lost his way a bit) will become a top-22 player for us.
To me, he has X-factor, natural footy positioning and those eye-catching leftie's skills with a touch of mongrel.
How/where to fit him in is the problem.

He didn't look great and didn't have an impact at all.

Felt we had a group of players that weren't bad, but didnt have a real influence (Milera, Keays, Hinge, Walker, Max, Murray).
What was wrong with Tex game ? He played his role very well

Difference between playing your role and not having influence

Let the stars star and the role players do their job

It’s how pies won a flag with a pretty poor bottom 5 on talent eg Frampton

It probably will be tempting to bring in Pedlar and use a tag team of Peatling , Keays and ANB on Merrett while leaving out Curtin

But I wouldn’t do it , keep playing Curtin in 23

Has anyone kept an eye on the Essendon board? They are very confident they will win this weekend. Already a foregone conclusion which is the polar opposite of ours.
I hope their players think the same. Teams that expect to win often forget to make it happen.

I reckon it'll be close; a kick either way (hopefully ours).

Won't work... the sub is not meant to be used for player management of 1 player... meant to be used to cover for early injuries and it's pretty rare that we don't get injuries throughout the season. Not too mention it severely restricts options to adapt to games.

Think there is always a bit of a lag with most footballer supporters as to where opposition teams are at. In our case we are much better than what was demonstrated last year.

Anyone see the presser? Some interesting comments regarding Curtin.
I understood the interview as saying that the Crows might go for more pace, which to me means that Curtain may be omitted for a fast, burst player. I am not discussing here whether Curtain should or should not be retained, but rather if we go less top heavy and opt for more pace, who is it likely to be besides Pedlar? Draper into the 22 and Pedlar as sub?

After McLeod he may not be the best but he’s my fav . Loves his teammates , loves the club

To think it was almost a sad ending after prospect oval

It should never have come close to being a sad ending. The AFL investigation and penalty was never going to be career ending. It was really only what that dip$h!t Nix said that implied there was any risk to his career with us.

The key with Curtin is to get creative with him if he’s not getting anywhere near it. Stints on the ball. Hell, give him ruck duties for 5 minutes. Whatever gets his ‘feel’ for the game going.

He’ll waste away otherwise.

What did he say?

The Saints also conceded their highest score under Ross in this 2nd stint as coach and had access to most of their first choice defenders (a strength of theirs). Kicking a big score like that against the Saints is a good sign, regardless of their outs in the forwardline (who they struggle to kick big scores with anyway).

Definitely good signs but seriously if we lost that game that would have been the end of Nicks. A bottom team at home with a full list - you just have to win and win well (which we did)

And the thing is, he's still got the leg and vision (if not the speed and mobility) to hurt teams a lot if they don't pay attention.

Ideal veteran role.

If he gets paid one of those marks and kicks one more goal then suddenly it'll be 'why are they subbing him off, he's had 11 disposals, 3 marks and 2 goals in a half of football!'

Tex will always kicks goals, especially if he continues to play so close to goals. What the coaching staff will be concerned about is the run and transition the opposition will get.

Alot of people on here are excited about stretching the opposition with our height but that's not how the game is played now a days. Good teams are prepared to concede on height to get more run.
