About time we beat the hawks .I had a full head of hair last time we beat the hawks and look like mil Hanna now ...Murphy of old in the third was good .. doc up the ground I like and everytime betts was near it something happens ... love sos and thank god he stayed .... these games we usually lose so glad we got over the line ... only thing I didn’t like was our forward entries , clean that up and we win by lots and Newman tackle, plow bump and Harry goal highlights

Looking better and better. His athleticism is nearly back. Just needs to get those couple howlers out of his game. He is a new man up the ground though.

I remember him going into the guts a few times pre his first knee and did well. I think now he’s starting to get full comfort and confidence in his knee that it’s his right spot

Didnt get a chance to see anything today ...only just got the score now...Woohooooo
Go Blues
You’re lucky you missed it!

edit - to be clear, I’m saying it was frustrating to watch but I am still damn happy with the 4 points, happy to beat those campaigners anywhere, anytime and there were some moments and individual efforts that are worth celebrating. I’m more interested in the positives!

For a guy who has such a high disposal efficiency and gets so much ball he a bit like Federer when he has a mis hit is a big mis hit .. but he is one of the few guys I like having the ball on the run

Yeah I don't get it. It's generally the low pressure 30m kicks he fluffs. Damn he is on the improve though

Four points and zero injuries were the biggest things I wanted out of today's game and it looks like we got them both.

Love having JSOS kicking the ball inside 50. Just such a naturally smart footballer. Really hope he gets a clear run at it for the rest of the year.

I'll admit I was skeptical about moving Doc out of defence but his last two weeks on the wing have been great. A piece of the jigsaw falls into place.

Murph excellent in the third, when the game was there to be won.

And I thought Teague's press conference was good too. Wasn't carried away with the win. Highlighted some areas we need to keep improving. Sounded like he had a bit to say at half time. Whatever it was it worked, and the team responded in the second half.

Onwards.
Zero injuries is a good point, seems like we always lose one or two a game....

Moving Doc to the wing and letting him roam across the centre linking up with either Saad or Williams. Was some inspired team movements there. Saad and Williams almost always had Doc involved in their breaks from the back half.

Yes, seems we have solved the riddle of how to work Williams, Saad and Doch into the one side.

Ugly win, but who cares. Came over from Adelaide to watch this. My 12 year old son’s first live win. He was 0-14-1 before today. Only the 2011 draw against Essendon were his only live points before today. Go Blues!!

Don't mean to rub it in, but took daughter #2 to her first match today, so starting off at 1-0.

Daughter number #1 magically went 3-0 despite attending her first matches across 2017-2018.

I think I need to have more kids...

How easily we forget that for many young fans, a win (any win) is a welcome and joyous occasion.

A wins a win but didnt get overly excited by it tbh. Was a pretty ordinary performance but we would have lost that in prior years.

Usual suspects played well but a few others stepped up. Owies was really good and again some crucial tackles in the backline. Would love to have others watching how hard he works. TDK was ok, pretty good for first up game. Williams 2nd half was really good and his disposal by foot can be really good. Get him fitter each week and we'll get reward for it. Stocker was good, more so the 2nd half, thought he was pretty average the 1st half. JSOS was a little underwhelming but a couple of his touches were pure class and important in the end result.

My major negative was our disposal. Didn't matter if by foot or hand, we just can't hit targets. Handballs go to the ground rather than the players advantage and just stuffs up the flow and run on. Makes everything so much harder.

Good to hear Teague gave them a bake and sounds like those he signalled out responded. I was worried he would be 'happy' with that performance, I'm glad he wasn't.

Important for new fans to bank some early wins before Carlton subjects them to 20 years of disappointment....

Any chance you can get em on the plane to Sydney next week, happy to meet you all at the airport and escort to ground.

MCG vs the Hawks. Some shocking memories stick in the craw.

Exhibit 1 Dean Rice jogged off half back flank with less than a minute to go leading by less than a goal, and dinks an appalling kick to let them get a 50/50 boundary throw in, which they win, get it in to Dixon who boots one after the siren to break our hearts.

Exhibit 2 watching Fev's kick after the siren sail towards goal and the whole place goes up, and I'm like the only one saw it scrape the post on the way through. Broken heart again.

Somehow, I've forgotten the thumpings as well, but the breakthrough last year was so long coming.
So I'm taking today, no matter how, or by how much.

So would any Blues supporter.
Fev's kick wasn't after the siren but I get your sentiment

Jesus, relax. It was a joke! It was an ugly game but you’re right, take the 4 points regardless. Why the agro?
I didnt know it was a joke mate...sorry....a grin would help

not agro ..just get tired of all the negative that happens here.... :thumbsu:

There was still a minute left to go in that game. Was there too, on the wing... kick looked beautiful but the wind took it. That roar when he marked it was one of the loudest things I've ever heard in the 'G. Still pissed off that we got rid of him.

I was there too. Not all blame can go to Rice... Jordan Doering fumble had a big impact in that.
