Can we live without Matty Cottrelldefensive running. Yep easily.
Murphies offensive efforts. I think so.

TDK brought more to the party than Casboult has in weeks so why so long

I remember that game, hawks got back into it in 3rd Kouta put them to sword in the last and we won by like 10 goals.

Never would I have thought we’d be waiting nearby 21 years to beat them at the g again.

Let's put this stat into perspective, between 02-20 we played Hawthorn at the MCG 7 times. it's not like we're talking 20 years of losing to them at a venue annually.

This was the conversation on SEN during the week. And it was rightly correctly put in its place - Clarkson came in and did a rebuild - Teague has come in after 2 years of a full Bolton re-build.

To compare them at the same stage Teague should be winning a flag this year.

Similar for Hardwick - the comparisons are not valid at all.

All the major players at Richmond were there before Hardwick Troll, he didn't oversee any rebuild. He topped up with a few players and started playing finals 3 years into his term, was under the pump and almost sacked in 2016. Comparisons are valid.

Anything positive at all to say after a win by the way?

A wins a win but didnt get overly excited by it tbh. Was a pretty ordinary performance but we would have lost that in prior years.

Usual suspects played well but a few others stepped up. Owies was really good and again some crucial tackles in the backline. Would love to have others watching how hard he works. TDK was ok, pretty good for first up game. Williams 2nd half was really good and his disposal by foot can be really good. Get him fitter each week and we'll get reward for it. Stocker was good, more so the 2nd half, thought he was pretty average the 1st half. JSOS was a little underwhelming but a couple of his touches were pure class and important in the end result.

My major negative was our disposal. Didn't matter if by foot or hand, we just can't hit targets. Handballs go to the ground rather than the players advantage and just stuffs up the flow and run on. Makes everything so much harder.

Good to hear Teague gave them a bake and sounds like those he signalled out responded. I was worried he would be 'happy' with that performance, I'm glad he wasn't.

The inconsistency just kills us throughout the game. Besides those 2 stupid mistakes in the first quarter, it was looking like a stroll in the park. Ball was moving well, some nice tempo footy was being played and you could have almost pencilled it in.

All of a sudden, 5 mins left in the second quarter and the entire team switches off. It’s like the collective consciousness of the team shuts down and everyone forgets where they are. After that, we played well for a few more mins at the end of the third and that was it.

It’s clearly all mental, and we haven’t figured out how to stop these blackouts for years.

TDK just came back from injury.

Please let’s put the stat in perspective- what is the win loss record with Hawthorn in the 21st Century at all venues?

My post has nothing to do with what you're asking, I was putting the whole haven't won there in 20 years thing into perspective. I don't know why you quoted my post.

In the late 70's and early eighties....we called the third quarter the premiership quarter.....why do you reckon?
Well its because those tough great sides we had would play rubbish for half a game and have to come from behind and mostly its hard to win any game.

Very few sides ever play 4 quarters of perfect football. But when they blow the final siren all that is recorded is the score at that moment.

If SPS being dropped had nothing to do with Newman being available I’ll go he.!

Why are you quoting me? :tearsofjoy: What does SPS playing have to do with meaningless stats?

took daughter #2 to her first match today, so starting off at 1-0.
Daughter number #1 magically went 3-0...I think I need to have more kids...
Righteo then...off you go.

Don't mean to rub it in, but took daughter #2 to her first match today, so starting off at 1-0.

Daughter number #1 magically went 3-0 despite attending her first matches across 2017-2018.

I think I need to have more kids...

That's a very longwinded way to tell us you're randy...

I would think our goal is to play better than 1 1/2 quarters of good football, and limit the team-wide blackouts.

Our best is really, really good. Our bad is diabolical.
