Yeah I might have over-cooked it here.

No problems. Only thing I have of importance tomorrow is a presentation about stuff I don’t understand as yet. I’ve assumed that would go poorly under the best conditions anyway, so am trucking on drinking
Enough graphs and charts and no one will realise anyway

This is so true! Had a colleague help me with some advance pie charts and some kind of flow cycle that I am calling the “good practice regulatory cycle”. It works as a general rule, and nobody seems to have suddenly become smarter so I’m feeling okay with it.

A healthy amount of buzz words, and some graphs that make a vague amount of sense is all you ever need. The only ones who may see through it are the ones thinking that this meeting could have been covered in an email, so they won't question it anyway.

Honestly reckon you would perform well in my job.

if I say regulatory reform and best practice at least 5 times I guarantee it doesn’t matter what the other words are, it will be plenty

Off to the Port Board!

Couple of observations from the outside. Thought Petty played a solid game, didn't see/think much of him previously but seemed to hold his own. Minus Viney I thought your midfield was well on top, Gawn and Oliver is the best ruck/mid combo by quite some distance, if those two are up and running you're hard to stop. I thought Brown played a pretty selfless game with his leads. Provided an option up the ground, and when he was inside 50 he did some selfless things to free up the others (blocking for Jackson Q1 as well as leading to the pockets to create space). I think he's a bit rusty though, whether it was poor kicking or poor leading he did run under the ball a few times.

That’s why people are saying it was a good thing he came in. A vocal part of this board thinks he’s dead ordinary and can’t run anymore. He looked good tonight.

A vocal part of the board is happy to admit he played well enough and they were wrong, but another vocal part of the board is happy to conveniently shift goal posts to suit their narrative in a win.

Can't remember seeing a single Brown backer saying they thought he'd be very good as a high centre half forward and be an excellent distributor into our forward 50. I thought he was in coz he could kick goals? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and show me the post however.

He was fine but winning covers up a lot. The Brown fan bois wouldn't be as chirpy had we lost. Just sayin'.

Imo because we played higher up the field so we turned the ball over higher. We were playing with 13 behind the ball that's why we were more dangerous.
You might be right, I need to re-watch the game as I was only able to watch bits and pieces throughout the night.

What I did like of what I saw was Brown appeared to move much better than earlier in the year. He looked more impactful when he moved higher up the ground, and looked dangerous with his field kicking.

Also if were ever going to get anything out of him he needs a chance to gel with the rest of the team.

I don't think we lose anything from having him in the side right now.

Agree, he looked far more mobile in the sense he was leading more higher up the ground and was much cleaner below his knees than earlier in the year.

He really is a beautiful field kick for his size too.

Put Weid to shame in terms of impact per possession while offering the same amount of bugger all on the scoreboard.

He was excellent last night playing a role I certainly didn’t envisage he could, got up and down the ground well, turned his opponent and used the footy well.

Fingers crossed it continues, although he needs to hit the scoreboard as well

Tldr: he was good, but not for the reasons people claimed he would be. :)
I think he was unlucky too. 2 marks which should have been paid, one in the pocket and one on F50.

Called it.
Benny makes our team better.
Argue all you like about how and why and all the nuances about field positions or whatever.

Seeing Benny Brown perfectly weigh an inside 50 bomb lace out to Spargo? Of course thats how our forwardline should look. Been saying it all along.
