Geelong have started the rebuild. Not sure anyone disagrees with that.Yet Geelong who have 7 top 25 picks since 2019 are apparently needing to start the rebuild.
You can't have it both ways guys.

The "poisoned chalice" option ✔Why are all the coaching candidates pulling out. Is they don't think the list is good enough and it is a poisoned chalice and they won't see out the first contract. Or do they think McQualter has the job and they are wasting there time and harming there rep in the process.
They know Richmond have a history of sacking coaches and eating their own when things aren't going great. Why are all the coaching candidates pulling out. You’re going to know about this all too soonThey know Richmond have a history of sacking coaches and eating their own when things aren't going great.
I don't blame them for pulling out when the position has coach killer written all over it.
Yep, three coaches in 24 years. Huge attrition rateThey know Richmond have a history of sacking coaches and eating their own when things aren't going great.

But you already had Cotchin Rance Reiwoltd and Dusty didn't you? Can't currently see those talents in ur list unless the next couple of years you find some at the pointy endWhile I don't disagree with most written here I do disagree that Tasmania will be the issue some think it is. Richmond (and some other clubs) were in pretty dire straits when both Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney came into the competition and we came out the other side pretty well in the end.
You need to have some senior bodies around the kids. look at all the experience we have lost the last few years, Grigg, Houli, Edwards, Lambert, Cotch & maybe Riewoldt. They do need to start a rebuild but trading in Taranto/Hopper has stuffed their hand this year, unless they trade someone with currency out.
They'd want to start no later than next year though, so they get at least a couple of years in before Tasmania dilutes the draft.
Thankfully for them, they probably don't need to go down the path of WCE/North, as they still have enough young talent to remain somewhat competitive but it would be a disaster it they decided to keep topping up and then fall in a slump right as Tassie starts building its list.
Oh I agree, I wouldn't be tossing anyone out unless their time is clearly up but it might be worth looking at certain players with currency and seeing if they have any value + wish to move. You need to have some senior bodies around the kids. look at all the experience we have lost the last few years, Grigg, Houli, Edwards, Lambert, Cotch & maybe Riewoldt.
I would say our drafting has been an area of concern we have not got right the last couple of years. other than last season we had been using our first pick to draft kids.
This certainly doesn't help a rebuild:
Richmond get: Jacob Hopper, Pick 53(2022), pick 63(2022)
Richmond give: Pick 6(2023), Pick 31(2022)
Hurts big time.
Martin, Prestia, Lynch, Broad and Vlastuin likely won't be there the next time Richmond are contenders. Surely a couple of them have some currency to have more of a dip at this draft. Taranto, Bolton, Rioli, Short and Baker should be the core players that they build around with high quality youngsters. They do need to start a rebuild but trading in Taranto/Hopper has stuffed their hand this year, unless they trade someone with currency out.
