God I am so happy we beat Essendrugs. What an insipid team they are. I would be telling Heppel that he is the worst Captain in the league who was only ever relevant when we was rubbed out for cheating. I would also love to tell Andrew Mcgrath that karma is a bitch and that it is the reason he is a failure of a number 1 draft pick. He is the AFL equivalent of the government seizing a drug dealers' assets after they arrest them.

But in all seriousness, this fake tough team couldnt get over 10 goals in a game when we gave away 5 or 6 50m penalties. The Tigers would be 7th on their metres gained for the night. God I hope they don't ever amount to anything.
Conca loves this...

With no obvious Lynch replacement, I'd like to see our match committee swing Gibcus forward for the week and bring in Ben Miller / Bigoa as his replacement. Gibcus played some junior football as a forward and is probably the most likely of our tall depth to provide an aerial contest against the Swans' strong intercepting defenders. I'm sure coaches/ fans alike would also be interested in what the man can do up forward given how prolific he has been in just his first year.

In: Graham Miller
Out: Lambert Lynch
I agree in part, but Gibcus is going so well down there you'd be very cautious about asking too much of him. Plus he compliments our back 6 so well.

Miller on the other hand is in great form in the VFL, is big and strong and mobile and has played forward in the VFL albeit not often. The times when he has gone forward he has looked pretty good. Give him the challenge where he will be the no.1 go to forward position (Lynch's) and not have to get out of anyone's way.

If we go in with Soldo at FF and Jack at CH I think we are in trouble. Jack is all of a sudden looking like the forward he should be, playing a bit deeper and going where ever he wants using his footy smarts. If he is made to shoulder the load at CHF again I think we are in trouble. Lynch is 3 weeks out, give a challenge to a Miller and see how he goes.

And you wouldn't bring in Pickett?

Personally, I dont rate the Swans or Freo, and at full strength, feel we'll beat both anywhere. I think both their spots in the 8 will go to the dogs and port.

This games odds say the complete opposite so may be my last post for a while...

Just Pickett and Graham in. Hoping Riewoldt to continue gaining form.

You believe Jack can replace the job Lynch has been doing, taking the brunt of the high balls against multiple defenders up and down the ground. Those days are long gone. When was the last time Jack took a big pack mark?

I would agree with you against regular opposition but the two McCartin brothers are in excellent intercepting form and we really need to be confident that whoever is replacing Lynch will be able to halve contests at the minimum. Think Gibbo is our man for the job but could always keep that card up our sleeves on game day.

Forgot about Marlion, comes in for Aarts.

I didn’t mind the trial.. and yeah it was a bit of because we lost Chol and CCJ but also because forward pressure was basically non existent last year and MRJ, Stack, and Clarke weren’t ready at the start of this season

Did it work? nope.. but that’s ok, not everything does, kudos for having a crack tho.
And who knows the experience they gained from it is surely a positive and can be a ‘break glass in emergency’ type case id injuries hit mid game
I think our own footy department was more to blame for Balta not being more successful up forward than Balta himself. Putting him at full forward for much of it was dumb. Played his first game up high chf and the whole footy world was going hang on here. Next week he was plonked at ff which is not his style.

Let him run round off the leash, hasn't got the footy smarts to play ff, but allowed to run free who knows what he would have done.

It also didn't help that all of a sudden Lynch was marking everything that came his way, something that hadn't happened for a year or so, so he wasn't really needed.

Said Miller should have been played forward from the start of the year, because we don't have one. Biggy is maturing nicely, but without Lynch we have not one other key forward other than a 33 year old Jack. So this week we will find out. Cumberland may come in because he flies for his marks but really we need a tall to kick long to.
