U got the disco bickies?lets go to the disco
You also missed sciliy pushing riewoldt in the back. Balta being pushed in the back. Delebrite when we literally kicked it to our guy on the lead and it bounced out, your players holding the ball, I could go onCongrats on the fighting win, Tigers fans
We attacked & defended well for 3 quarters. But when you blokes turned up the heat in the last quarter and applied scoreboard pressure. We went into our shells, went away from our our gameplan and lost the plot defensively. Zero pressure from our forwards and some shocking turnovers allowed you guys to stream through the middle and pump it deep inside fifty for numerous one-on-ones.
Rioli had been erased by Maginness over the first 3 quarters, but he had a great last quarter. Martin and Bolton had been somewhat subdued, but they also came alive. I thought our inside mids held sway for 3 quarters, but Taranto and Prestia lifted when it mattered.
I won't lie. The defeat was painful to watch. But credit where credit is due: it was an excellent win by you blokes which kept your season alive.
However, I'm curious about the vitriol in here towards the umpires. Sicily got away with a jumper hold against Riewoldt and he craftily milked a free kick for the push in the back in another 1v1 contest.
Aside from these 2 decisions, what were the others that had you howling?
I heard the usual bellyaching from fans at the ground about every single deliberate OOB decision. We all know the umps are instructed to penalise players for kicking the ball out. But it doesn't stop fans and commentators from complaining every time it happens. One day the penny will drop and people will accept it. It doesn't mean every single time the ball goes out, the player must be penalised. It's when they have a clear possession and their kick goes towards the line and out. Simple. Not sure why everyone has such a hard time with this 15 year old rule interpretation.
Anyway, I saw a number of number of missed frees for the Hawks. Some blatant in the backs and high tackles. But that's part and parcel of being a biased footy fan. We all see every potential free kick for our own team. Doesn't mean we get 'em.
You did also score a vital goal just before 3/4 time when the ump missed a free to Sicily and then penalised him for "dissent" after he muttered something under his breath. Not exactly "demonstrative" dissent. The ump could've let that go, but he inserted himself into the action on that one.
So why the aggrievement, Tiges fans? Has it become part of your identity to play up the "us versus them" ?
Y

Hawks Board.>>>>>>I agreed with commentary about the free against Grimes. Mansell needed to make more of an effort to get to the ball and and fumble/knock it over the line. Except he stood back and watched it. Therefore the ump had no option but to penalise Grimes.
Pretend for a sec we are playing under the old 'deliberate' rule - if Grimes deliberately went for the boundary line and Mansell had a chance of keeping it in, but he chose to stand back and watch the ball go out of play, then Grimes would still be penalised for deliberate.
Apply the same logic to the new harsher OOB rule interpretation: Grimes was in the clear, in posseession, and he elected to kick the ball towards the boundary line. He isn't saved by the fact that it was roughly headed in Mansell's general direction. He needed to kick the ball further inside the field of play to Mansell. Not to the boundary line. When Mansell saw his kick was going out, he needed to make more an effort to get there and touch the ball.
That's the rule.
Anyway, fans complain WAY TOO MUCH about these frees. It rarely catches the defenders out. They've kicked the ball away from goal and they have numbers back ready to defend the next inside fifty. Much ado about nothing, I think.

The 2 decisions which went Sicily's way are easily explainable. I'm not saying the ump was correct. Just playing devil's advocate and trying to understand WHY instead of labelling him a "cheating dog".
1. For the hold: The umpire was obviously blind-sided and he missed it. It happens. Umps aren't always in best position and they sometimes miss the obvious free that everyone else sees. It doesn't make them "corrupt". Ease up! Imagine if every time Jack Riewoldt missed a shot at goal, people accused him of match-fixing and taking bribes from bookies.
Perhaps another umpire could've awarded the free kick, but you rarely see that. It would be a massive call for an umpire 50m away to overrule the ump who was 15m away and give Jack a free shot at the goal in the 4th qtr of a close game.
2. For the in the back to Sicily... That was pretty well milked by Sic. Jack put a hand in his back and gave him a little push and Sicily fell forwards. Annoying for Jack and tigers fans, but you can't exactly complain about it. This is how the game is umpired. if you get in someone's back and they go to ground, a free kick is always likely. (Although, Marlion Pickett seemed to get away with a few against Sicily)
They were hardly "momemtum changers". Richmond had all the momentum. These decisions didn't result in Hawthorn goals.
A momentum changing decision was the "dangerous tackle" against Reeves to Soldo in the 1st quarter. Hawks were leading 4 goals to 1. They were well on top. Soldo grabbed the ball, was tackled, made no effort to dispose of it and was taken to the ground.
For the last 120 years, that's been holding the ball. But under the current shitty rule interpretation, crafty players have quickly learned to hold onto the ball and let themselves be rag-dolled in order to milk a dangerous tackle. Doesn't make it right. It sucks.
Goal to Richmond and then another... There's your "momentum chang.
Hawks went into quarter time with a 6 point lead after they'd dominated the 1st quarter.
He looked composed the young fellaGreat last quarter from Matty coulthard
news.com.au article on the game states the following:
"Fox Sports’ Max Laughton noted the 30-point come from behind victory was the equal biggest in Richmond’s history, with the first time being way back in 1947. It’s also their biggest ever at the MCG."
Well I'll be f***ed!
Where the fook have you been bro?Cheers, class act as always Smasha.

Yes that’s the stat they said on MMMI assume he means 3qtr time deficit as we've had bigger comebacks in recent seasons

A bit torn.Just didn't get in my votes but absolutely loved Banks' game today. Huge progression at the level and took it on at every realistic opportunity.
Cumbo kicked 6 so you'd think someone like Mansell might be on trouble as he didn't take his chances.
I'd like Coulthard to get a full game, but his impact as the sub was significant so it wouldn't shock me if he is the sub again next week.
