Autopsy Round 11, 2024 : Hawks poach the Lions

The better team won today. They had the better of periods of the game but we didn’t falter. Great resilience after last week. The experience of Sic, Scrim and Gunner made a difference.

Huge games from Gunners, Worps, Sicily, Day, Mass (albeit some errant kicking) and Newk. Big last quarters from Moore and Croc.

Huge win that! Got NFI why they had the roof closed on a sunny day but a great game to see live and is clear we've absolutely arrived.

Thought Chol was immense, supported beautifully by Gunston and Calsher who both kicked clutch goals. Probably Worpel's best game of the year, while Will Day, D'Ambrosio and Meek were hugely influential. Another flying game by Impey while Scrimshaw and Sicily were massive ins back there.

Clear we learnt a lot after last week, and did we well to stem a surging Lions by kicking late goals both in the second and third that really turned the game back our way. Our last quarter was massive and despite looking like we'd capitulate we really kept our heads for what was our best win of the year.

Next year I genuinely reckon we will challenge. #Flagthorn

3/4 feels very gettable out of that run of games.

That would have us at 7/8 and I reckon 12 wins gets you in this year so not without a sneaky chance of winning 5 more in the run home.

Our % is awful though which makes it even harder.

Yep still would need a hell of a lot to go right. It would just be nice for the players to feel alive at round 17/18, because the last few years it’s been get games into the youth time
