Autopsy Round 12, 2024: Hawks stone the Crows

Hodgey used to do the same with guys like Izzy albeit much less animated.

Think Day just wanted to settle the troops and remind them that there is still a job to do.

He's a future captain.
Must admit I was a bit confused when I saw it but when he went on to do the same with others I thought it might just be his way to rev everyone up. Perhaps Newmo89 can ask the question??

I think whilst finals are still a possibility we need to pick our best team each week and currently CJ isn't best 23 based on his form since coming back.

I have always been a big fan of CJ and we are a better side when he is up and about but right now he looks like he needs a spell to get his touch back.
We'd have to replace him with Ward who doesn't offer much more on the wing and I'd be reluctant to move Amon back there. I'd be giving Shammy a spell before CJ but BMac isn't doing enough in the two's. CJ must play wing.

Just got back - great win!

21 of the 22 cracked in all day.

One bloke catted the place up with conditional efforts or no effort at all.

I'll leave this for now as lets celebrate the win, but I'm sure a few of you saw what I, and all those around me saw.

Great win for Jack!
Now I'm curious.. who is this mystery man? (I didn't see the game)

Not sure who CJ was playing on, but I thought he did some good things. Love to know what others thought his role was today.

He looks due to about carve it up!

Jeez we're fun to watch when we get going!

Scrimshaw had a quiet word to Day after his reaction during Ginni's goal celebration. Can't pretend to know what it was all about, but interesting scenes. One thing is clear though - the players care! They're invested.

Sat in my favourite spot at the G centre wing behind the coaches box as I love watching the players coming off and on, being close to the action etc. The thing that stood out the most for me from today’s performance was the team effort and the spread across the 22. We don’t have a weak link. Every player coming off was spent and then the next bunch goes on after a rest ….. We are building nicely as a team 😊

Just watched it again. Day wasn’t happy, Scrimshaw was having a chat to him after the siren. That’s exactly the mongrel we need in this team to take us to the next level.

Great win by the boys, and nice to finally get a win at the G this season too. Something special about them.
Loving our fast starts to matches the past handful of weeks - much more enjoyable than getting pantsed in the first quarter as per the first part of the year, even if we know the oppo will likely peg the margin back a bit later on. Gets the crowd up and about which is fun.

A lovely patch of footy the past month and a bit. Hopefully we can keep it up for another fortnight before heading into the bye.

Carn the Hawks!

Reeves did really well today. Hope either one of Ned and Meek pulls up for next week. They both are the walking wounded at the moment.

I also loved Chol in the ruck. It's certainly cool to watch a ruckman trying to jump on someone elses shoulders in the centre.
As a high jumping medium sized ruckman myself I’m loving this

Sam Mitchell really nicely outlining the change for Scrim this year in the post game conference. Said that he could have been a "wasted talent" due to not valuing his defensive side but that he is now doing everything required despite still not being a finished product.

Pleased Rowan Atkinson GIF by Working Title

We are now passing another mid-range team...

Day was clearly just hyping Ginni up.

I can’t believe so many think that Day was giving him a spray.

Nah I think Day was definitely giving him some choice words to pull his head in.

Day did not want the group to lose focus and there was still a job on hand.

Either way whatever it was I liked it from Day. It shows we care.

After the game you could see Ginni and Day having a laugh with Day giving him a friendly shove…..perhaps reliving the moment. Perhaps Day expressing his dislike on Ginni not doing a team thing. See no problem with that….just a team leader reminding his players the right thing to do.

Oh, I'm enjoying winning games! 🤩

Let's just not listen to a word Kane Cornes says, good or bad, he just speaks shit into a microphone 🎤💩
I used to share this opinion of Cornes, then he developed this really annoying habit of saying good things about the Hawks. Puts a dent in my ability to hate him.

Nah, elaborate. Would love to know who you think was a cat.

Bit much being made of Ginnivan burning Dear. He got the ball with the plan to score and I don't think he expected to turn around to see two free teammates in an otherwise empty 50.

I've seen plenty of people (including myself) post over the years "I just wish players would take the shot if they're inside 50 rather than look to pass it off".

Of course it's a bit different in this situation and also because he missed, but ultimately he's got that mindset to own the moment. He knew he stuffed up afterwards. Lesser, even more experienced players would have gone into their shell after that. He continued to stand up and help the team get the win.

He's still a kid developing his game. And today's performance overall was really good. Should've had an extra goal if CJ hadn't got his monty shot overturned.

No, he was just going for glory.

Has to learn team rules.
