Wizard still learning how to cast the correct incantation. He needs to study a bit of Latin and maybe do some reading on the Salem Witch trials. But once he's sorted out his magicks he will be unstoppable.
Little more eye of Breust?

Kind of don't want the bye now, we need this momentum to keep rolling
A break for the young lads to chill and reset might do them no harm and could actually be a good thing

Great performance today.

It was a big stage for our lads, and we worked hard right to the end. I’m rapt with the boys.

Been awesome to watch Dusty, just amazing player. Incredible grand final performances, a record that will be hard to beat.

Big shout out to Mr Sam Mitchell. Would have been a tough time early in the season for him. But he has shown that he is taking this young group forward in an exciting way.

Go hawks.

Oh, and I love that we won all 4 quarters of football. That’s great.

Good performance, great win.

Scrimshaw, Sicily, Weddle, Mass, Newcombe and Day were brilliant.

Mitchell needs to have a word with the Wiz and tell him to pull his head in and to settle himself. He has kicked something like 5.16 for the season, and that's not including the complete misses, OOTF's. His defensive efforts are elite, he just needs to settle down.
Interesting re the Wiz, I’m not sure any of the coaches have noticed that.

Great game.

Day, far out, so good, no surprises here that we've been winning since he returned from injury.

Ginni, love how he gets up the ground as support, but trying to kick around a non existent corner, maybe 10 degrees off centre, does my head in. A week off, hope Breust and Gunston take him for drop punt practice.

(And a great game day fred on the bay, lots of good stirring of the tuggers)

Strange feeling, not our best performance this year but the margin was a fair amount. We are only going to get better.
Genuinely felt after the 15 minute mark of the first term - that the intensity and quality dropped off enormously.

In the end it was a massive turnover fest.

Both sides coughed the ball up in low pressure situations. Skill level of Richmond was horrible.

Biggest ever crowd to watch a practice match standard game.

Still - bank the 4 points and move on.

We are still in the hunt. 👍

Just got home after the game. Great win.

Felt like a bit of a threepete era game. Beat a team we should have by a regulation 8 goals, without too much fan fare nor really needing to get out of 2nd gear.

Still plenty of a way to go but it’s great to see it all clicking at the moment.

Sicily masterclass.

Tigers cupboard is empty. They will probably finish last.

Hey Wiz. Love the pressure acts. Hate the ducking. Stop doing it and the footy gods might let a few more go through the big sticks.

Well done to McKenzie. Obviously he has worked hard on his goal kicking and it is showing. Good stuff.

Chol stuck it right up em.

I will watch the replay tonight with a significant amount of red wine, so my initial undrank impressions are:

  • Once again, the man, Mabior Chol. Some were worried that he might repeat his Suns game considering we were coming up against his old team. He certainly put that to bed. His kicking action is pure, fluid and uncomplicated, and I think it's fair to say that he's the best set shot in the team. What I am really noticing about him in Hawks colours is his second and third efforts. I don't think he was known for those at his previous clubs. The team obviously loves having him in the side and he is HUMMING.
  • Will Day will be the best player in the league in a few years (copyright Conor Nash, 2024). Everything he does is class mixed with aggression and toughness. I doubt there are many mids who can snag 20 possies and still be close to best on ground.
  • I said CLOSE. Because James Sicily absolutely owned Richmond today. They'll be having nightmares about him. 874 metres gained, 33 disposals and a metric ton of intercepts (yes I don't know how many precisely). And it's not just the meterage - some of those kicks were absolutely sublime. 60 metre bullet passes to open up the ground.
  • Scrim and Weds were hard and tough, and the intercepting was first class. The flew for everything, and aside from a couple of fumbles and an errant kick, were switched on all day and provided so much impetus from D50.
  • Duke was back to his best. I reckon I'll catch more on the replay, but he seemed to be covering the ground more than some previous games? Got to plenty of contests and that crumbing goal was top notch!

I reckon some of the small forwards need to sit on Chol's shoulder and watch his kicking action over and over. If you are in front of the goals please kick a drop punt - my neighbours kids don't need to learn new and horrible words that will surely punt them into therapy when they are older.

Anyway, more to come!
