I haven't been on here in ages, let me give you guys my thoughts on the game plus some more.

  • Bailey Williams - this man is a bonified scrub, this man is 6'8 and tall for no reason. It is an embarrassment to the ruck craft that a designated ruckman got not only outplayed by the opposing ruckman, but dismantled by a midfielder. Not only did he get beaten at his own craft by smaller midfielders, this man cost us the game. Failed attempt to kill the ball on the goal square, leading to a Larkey goal. Holding the ball and free kick in the ruck in the last minute of the game. This man has no IQ, awareness, lacks the determination and everything that becomes with being an AFL, this man is an embarrassment to the game of football. I'm sorry but if this scrub gets outplayed by 6'3 midfielders in the ruck, what's he doing against other ruckman? He's going to get smashed like we saw last season. I would rather have Sheed ruck instead of carrying this liability. I still cannot phantom the abysmal performance by this man, Sumuck gave him a 2/10? I think there was a typo, he really meant -2/10. When the Norf ruckman got injured and was out the rest of the game, i throw a parade in my living room. I was celebrating thinking we were about to take over the midfield numbers, thinking the only logical thing any fan would think, a designated ruckman, rucking against midfielders. This man should be banned from the city of Perth, past greats of this club, Seaby, Wilson, Cox did not walk for this man to run backwards the other way. I am all for supporting our own, but this was arguably the worse performance i have seen by an player, taking into account his direct opposition. This man was literally doing CARDIO on saturday afternoon, cardio. I don't care if we don't have a ruckman to come in for him this week, this man needs to go back to WAFL level, not even WAFL level, a level where he is rucking against 6'4 ruckman, he first needs to master that before rucking against ruckman his size. How are you the tallest person on the field by 3 inches and fail to take one mark man, cmon god damn it. The only positive thing this man can do is when it's one of his teammates milestone game and he is used as one of the two players to chair the player off the field. In fact, the only ever time someone on twitter will say something positive about Bailey Williams, is when the Bailey Williams from the doggies is playing. To my surprise there were some positive tweets saturday night, then i remember the doggies were playing.
  • Ginbey - Good, reminds of Crips.

Should be looking to bring Hewett, home game, should be playing.

Come back more more often if your going to
have that sort of stuff to contribute……

Quality rant

Totally agreed. Bonified spud 🥔.
Hope Eagles delist or trade him at years end

Reminds me of Dark Sharks

I’ve already s

I've already stated many times that the game is won or lost in the midfield many times, the fact that you can’t grasp that concept is not my problem.

No. You keep avoiding the actual question who wins the game when the midfield battle is a draw.

What happens when midfields break even?

So ignoring the obvious question is a you problem.

In 2018 the Eagles won games not by winning the midfield battle but by breaking even in the middle and winning forward with high efficency and winning in defense.

You dont need to win the midfield battle to win a game, you just cant lose the midfield battle badly. We just lost the middield battle on the weekend and lost by less than a kick. Explain that tous Batman.

One less brain fart we would have won the game after losing the midfield battle. Pretty simple concept to understand.

To win as a minimum a team needs to get on top in 2 out of 3 sections of the ground.

Tackling isnt really our problem. We have won the tackle count in our last 4 games (proper games not preseason). Some by a big margin.

It would be nice to see our tackling being rewarded by the umps a bit more like other teams are rewarded against us.

And we know what happened in 2011 - with the same coach and most of those senior players you mentioned still playing.

Things can change quickly in football - a decent game plan and luck with injuries gets you there quicker than you think

My memory is pretty hazy on what we changed game plan wise after 2010. What did we change to bounce back so quickly outside of favourable draw and good player availability?

What does Sheed do well better than anyone else at the eagles?
Okay I’ll play…. For a start you have failed to read my post correctly. I said “What he does do well is clearly better than some in the side however”

So he has better disposal than some iplayers in the side. He is a left footer which we hardly have any of. His spread from the contest and link up play is better than a number of other players on our list. Generally uses the ball well by foot and hand when in space and generally gets a lot of it when playing well.

He failed to play a game last year yet averaged 26 disposals a game in 2019 and 2021. ( ignore stats from 2020 shorter games)

We have blokes that play similar roles that struggle to get out of single figures on the stats sheet.

He’s being played out of position at the moment playing for large parts of the game in the centre square. His weakness is his contested ball and defensive pressure acts. He’s far more suited to playing outside mid or as high half forward.
The bloke just played his first game in 18 months so can you tell me if Sheed is the problem at the Eagles then why didn’t we win the premiership last year?
There are far bigger issues on the Eagles list than Dom Sheed.

Forward Press and zone defence. What was really interesting in hindsight is that Woosh said we had been trying to play like that since 2007 and it finally clicked in 2011. I thought he was talking smack, but happened to watch the 2007 semi final loss against Pies a few years ago and we were clearly using zone defence back then. It's bizarre that it took them so long to bed it in.

Whatever happens this weekend (and i do think Eagles will win) changes need to be made at the selection table. This is the first time in a long time that we have had a relatively healthy squad. If you don't make a statement at selection about what is acceptable, then you are showing you accept 2022 as the standard. Any player that has been in the system for at least 3 years and was poor on the weekend should be under the microscope - this includes Duggan, Kelly, Gaff, Cripps, Jameson, Williams, Witherden, Petruccelle and O'Neill. Hough and Culley must come in at a minimum. (assuming fit)

Ahhh I love these Williams melts. Cheers

I agree he should have his shins removed surgically and applied to someone else with a bit more oomph. Ginbey perhaps. Create some sort of proto ruckman who can compete and not lose the game. A radical concept.

So. My ins and outs

-Bailey Williams shins
-The rest of Bailey Williams

+Reuben Ginbey with Bailey Williams' Shins
+Culley

Chesser offered nothing, but I agree, get some games into the lad. It is good just to see him on the park.

Barnett coming in later in the season should provide competition for Ginbey in the ruck which is something.

If start the game like we did the 3rd qtr we are a good chance.
Take away that abysmal 2nd qtr last week and we win by a margin.
I think we have too many players who wait/relay on others to step up and have a crack when every one needs to.

I was so looking forward to last weeks game and am now just as much looking forward to this one in the hope last week was a mulligan.

Ginbey needs/deserves to start in the middle as well. (not as Ruck)

Yep agree with that mate, was curious what you've seen from him, and also he is an important player to transition to the next eagles premiership midfield.
