Not quite sure what Edwards is, or what we hope he'll become? Sort of just... a guy without a role out there.

Probably another luke foley type depth player to have around.

I dont see any amazing qualities that tells me Ledwards will be anything other than a bit part role player.

He's pretty good with ball in hand, not afraid to absorb some pressure and release at the right moment to the correct option. Obviously a tad on the slow side and not playing in his preferred position which I guess is in the centre. He's building very slowly, certainly fringe and sometimes looks a liability but the thinking is probably that if he has 100 games under his belt by the time Kelly and Yeo are gone there might be a role for him. Could easily go the way of Nelson and SPS before getting to that 100 game mark as well.

Edit: If we get him to 50 games and he continues to build, has a couple of above average games at the level, then maybe one day a trade to Adelaide could happen. Particularly if they are losing Rory Sloan prematurely. So has value as a chip in a Dan Curtin trade potentially, assuming he feud between the Crows and Edwards families heals over sooner than later.

Out: Gaff, Darling
In: Jones, J.Williams/Barnett
Sub: Edwards

I know Darling won't be dropped but the game has gone past him, just like Gaff. He's too slow and provides nothing defensively.

Further to that, if we're going to be using Jamison as a backman, we should be rotating B.Williams with a ruckman in the forward line. Give one of the young fellas a crack and a bit of a reward for their performance in the WAFL practice match yesterday.

His career at AFL level is done. Simpson needs to actually have the hard conversations he's tried avoiding for years

The fact it's got to this stage is an absolute indictment on the leadership and coaching panel

Blind Freddy could see the game had gone past him at any stage of the last couple of seasons

Chess into the 22

JJ the sub

Gaff to the WAFL

Pretty much my thoughts. Not sure who gets the “sitting on standby, doesn’t get to play any level” role. Maybe give someone like Johnston a bit of experience around the senior side?

They usually rotate the rested emergency don't they? (assuming they don't have an injury concern) It was Dewar this week, maybe Hall next week

Being the emergency for home games isn't really that different from just being an unselected player

Gaff must have incriminating photos of Simpson.
Luke Edwards wouldn't get a game on any other team.
Ditto Tom Cole and Alex Witherden.
Need to go tall. Because we've got no one at CHF to contest the bail out kick. Darling just has no impact anymore. Bring in Barnett, Jones, Hall or Burgiel if he's finally fit.

Out: Gaff
In : Chesser

Otherwise I want to see some of the young guys in the WAFL beat the door down. Hopefully Burgiel, Barnett, Maric are knocking the door down soon.

How far off are Culley and Hewett from resuming too? Ryan?

Too tall forward with Darling, Waterman and Allen. Petrucelle played well as a forward today and Burgiel kicked 4 in the WAFL.

FF: Long -:- Allen -:- Petrucelle
HF: Burgiel -:- Waterman -:- Cripps

Use Petrucelle as a leading forward as he was today.

Gaff definitely needs to work his way back into the team via WAFL. Clay Hall should also be in the conversation for a debut.

They’ll miss the WAFL scratchie on the Saturday morning, that’s my main issue. Wouldn’t make it Hall as he’s missed enough recently

You got your info from The West didn't you? 🤣

Gaff has to go (not convinced he will), Chesser into the team.

I just don’t see it with Edwards. Decent enough skills but too slow. Would like to see him replaced by Hall but not sure Hall is ready after missing a chunk of preseason. Could be sub but he probably needs a full game at WAFL.

We need some drive off the backline so would prefer JJ in sooner rather than later but he may not be ready/ have done enough. Witho the obvious victim if so in due course.

Darling’s form has stunk for a long time but delivery has been terrible to our forwards and not sure who offers more. Maybe Maric (who I like a lot) but he needs to find some form still it seems. I would persist with Darling for a week or two and see if he improves.
