You may be proven to be right, id argue theres nothing to really base that opinion off though- we played a game against the bottom side and had it stitched up in the first quarter. Days injury in the players psyche reminding them that the prize wasn’t yesterday but in the weeks to come.I think the Hawks are starting tire. Bring in a few fresh legs (CJ,?) next week v North. The following break will be perfect timing. Then look out.
It's more of a frustration than a concern but when the Hawks have their opponents on the ropes and are under no pressure, it's when the sloppiness steps in and Sicily is the main culprit but shots at goals suffer too. Around-the-corner kicks when they're not required. You may be proven to be right, id argue theres nothing to really base that opinion off though- we played a game against the bottom side and had it stitched up in the first quarter. It actually reminded me of the Hawks circa 2015, kill the game early and coast. It’s what good teams do. They looked a little bored to me to be honest.
i was more concerned that Cholly seems to have lost some confidence in his set shots on goal in the last few matches - he was passing off (not very well, either ) yesterday when he would have confidently nailed them back in the middle of the year. Hope the coaches compare videos of his technique and see what might have changed a few degrees or so in something he does. You have nailed it and I agree. I can see us losing a final because of nerves in front of goal.
Ginni and Wizard have lost all confidence with a basic drop punt. You can see it in there faces when they have a shot from 40 directly in front. The wizard runs outside of gate 5 and back onto the ground before kicking it. Ginni has zero penetration in his drop punt. ( I can’t recall if it is his right or left knee that had a crack in it) but perhaps this is affecting his set shots.
They both would prefer to be kicking the ball around the corner and as we have seen with Mckay and Curnow in big games this falls apart under pressure.
Scrimshaw with a dislocated left pinky from what I could gather in the rooms - he will be a test for this weekend, depending on scans. Day is a wait and see post scans - that it wasn't a break is a good sign, but damage to muscles can be just as nasty. Fingers are crossed that it will be a fortnight and he will be right to go in the finals.Newmo89 got any intel on Day + Scrim outside of what the media already has already said that is? Oh FWIW you're our media
IMO guys like Watson & maybe even Gini should try to play on if situation supports even a little bit that going for set shots. To my eye it’s the one big thing I can see us getting rolled in a tight final- inefficiency in front of goal.. a lot of the younger guys (understandably) often don’t convert opportunities they probably should, I can totally envision playing Geelong and we kick 8.15 to their 10.5.. Cats generally make the very most of their opportunities in front of the sticks. Hawthorn have exceeded all expectations this year and it’s hard to be critical, especially being such a young team- would just love to see a few become dead eye in front of goal.

Love beating the Tiges too but I think most teams give as good they get in this regard.Love beating Tigers - grubbiest team in the league by a mile. So many late tackles and spoils well after the ball is gone.
I see what The Gulden child sees. To me they've shown signs since the GWS game. Many of these kids have never had to run so much or play with this intensity over such a long period. You may be proven to be right, id argue theres nothing to really base that opinion off though- we played a game against the bottom side and had it stitched up in the first quarter. Neek just doesn't look right without his flowing locksIs there any way we could start a petition to get Ginnivan back in the long sleeves? I wouldn’t mind one for Newc to grow his locks back either.
None of that stuff matters one bit. Let's get four points this weekIs there any way we could start a petition to get Ginnivan back in the long sleeves? I wouldn’t mind one for Newc to grow his locks back either.

Day got injured because Newcombe was shoved in the back and the umpire ignored it. Felt like the umps felt sorry for them after 1/4 time and allowed them to do whatever they wantedLove beating Tigers - grubbiest team in the league by a mile. Eh? Ginni played in long sleeves against the Tigers. Is there any way we could start a petition to get Ginnivan back in the long sleeves? I wouldn’t mind one for Newc to grow his locks back either.
What do you make of that, were we worried that at some time after 12:30 that one of our backmen was a chance to pull out before around 2:30?he would have been the emergency at the G for the seniors game - BH game started at 2 - annoyingly.
Wonder if Weddle was under a cloud? He didn't seem to do as much of his hard running, or did he have more of a shutdown role yesterday? Hard to tell on the TV.What do you make of that, were we worried that at some time after 12:30 that one of our backmen was a chance to pull out before around 2:30?
Our highest ever scoring 1st quarters.Odd game but we put it to bed early.
Newk brilliant, Massa & Amon just don’t miss targets.
Did I hear that in 2000 + games that was only our 6th or 7th time we have kicked 9 goals in the 1st qtr?
