Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Interesting selection. I guess if you look at the Dons tall forwards, they only have Lloyd and Lucus. Bower, Thornton and Waite should be able to cover them. Suspect Waite will take Lucus and Thornton will take Lloyd. They don't have a very big forward for Setanta to matchup on. Grigg can play the role of a medium defender. Scotland is unlucky, but we have a lot of midfield quality now, and Stevens and Grigg's inclusion will be an improvement. Glad Garlett's been retained. Joseph will get Lovett. Not sure if there is anyone else on the Dons list deserving of a tag or specific matchup. This is one of the strongest midfields we've fielded for a while. Very powerful. :)

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Sorry?

Backs: H.Slattery Daniher Hocking
Half-backs: Dempsey Ryder Fletcher
Centres: Winderlich Stanton Lovett
Half-forwards: Monfries Lloyd Dyson
Forwards: Skipworth Lucas Davey
Followers: Hille Watson Zaharakis
Interchange: Jetta Quinn Pears Myers

EMG: Bellchambers Nash Lovett-Murray

Have a bex and a good lie down if a re-post is too much to take.

Apology not required. But come on, how many times do we have to see that team?

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

i think the above posts might be right about scotty, maybe not fully match fit. Obviously hes better than several players named and will return son enough

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

They don't have a very big forward for Setanta to matchup on.

Patty Ryders height may prove to be a problem if he goes forward which i think he will.Depending how much supply there forwards get of course, but with our midfield i am tipping not much, and the Dons will need to make the most of every oppurtunity to beat us this time.

Re: Round 3:- Changes against Essendon?

I am so happy Garlett is still in there, has done everything asked from him. And I am guessing the MC are very happy with the kid, think how much confidence this kid is going to get. He comes across as a very shy young man, well done to the kid.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

this is a big moment in our recovery. it's been a long time since we've been able to ommit someone like Scotland, but I'm glad the day has finally come. nothing personal to Scotland.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Hille could cause us massive problems if he spends time in the forward line. And I think Ryder is going to be a very good player in the forward line, he is more a forward than a back line player.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Scotland very stiff not to get a run.

This may Upset some people but i am going to say i would rather have Heath in the team before Russell or Bower.

Sigh.

Last week:

Russell: 22 Disposals, 8 marks, 5 tackles, 5 Clearances

Scotland: 13 Disposals, 6 marks, 3 tackles, 0 Clearances.

Based on form: NO

Stevens has been swapped in to fill Heath Scotlands role across half back.

Dont get me wrong, Scotlands a good player, but IMHO even he would acknowledge his form was down last week.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Waite plays Jamison's man-on-man role.

Grigg plays Waite's athletic roaming defender role (albeit a few cms shorter!)

As for Stevens, they obviously think Johnson is progressing well enough in Scotland's hbf role. Scotland was injured in the preseason, Stevens suspended. So they must rate Nick's physical conditioning as better at this stage.

Despite the doubters on here, Jeff Garlett survives the axe another week! :thumbsu: I think the club's short term forward structure and long term depth are threatened if we don't let him see out his rookie promotion (5 more matches).

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Can't wait to watch Kreuzer dominate the ruck and find our guns at will. We lacked players to rotate on and off the ball last week and this let Brisbane back in. This week we should be right so if we rotate properly we can punish them for 4 quarters.

I really wan't to see Cloke more physical against them like he was against Richmond and knock a few blokes around this week. We need to be physical to stifle their pace.

With Grigg and Stevens in I hope to see Judd up forward and Murphy and Grigg at times. We really need to kick straight and put it on the board and hopefully we can have them beaten by half time although I wouldn't count on it.

Scotland is unlucky but clearly underdone. Had a good game against Richmond but was poor against Brisbane. Probably hadn't fully recovered which is what happens when you are unfit.

He needs to get fit and so will Carrazzo. Bower I believe is getting a second chance which is good. He was very poor against Brisbane with his decision making, physicality and skills but he's a quality player and they want him in the team and playing well. He will struggle to hold his place if his form doesn't pick up with Jammo coming back in weeks and Setanta and Austin pushing for selection. Good decision, I like how they give the young players a chance and a real go.

I recon this could be a big game for Sauce, he could find himself on the quality big man in Hille or a smaller far less quality player. He's coming more and more out of his shell and has great disposal so it'll be good to see him get into the action.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Yeah i wondered if it would be him.

That's pleasing, coz i reckon either Kreuze or Sauce will beat him in the ruck, and we'll only have to worry about one of he and Hille in their forward line at once.

yep, Kreuzer and Sauce must make sure they slaughter Ryder in the ruck, as to prevent Knights from putting Hille in the forward line for long periods of the game.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Hopefully over the next few weeks they give Sauce and Kreuzer a rest and let the Hammer come in, we don't wanna kill them.

Also I love Hampson after Gibbs of course.

Re: RD 3 Teams:- Blues v Bombers

Scotland hard done by?
I did tip this somewhere.......just can't find the thread to quoe to blow my own horn.

I thought Scotty looked solid but short of a gallop, and was puffing a bit late. I wondered if he might ge back to the two's for Stevens (given they are playing similar roles now) and get his match fitness up a bit.

With Grigg coming in instead of Setanta we are abviously concerned about them going small in their forwardline.

I guess Grigg can play small and a little tall if needs be.

No McPhee helps, with Waite going onto Lloyd up the ground probably. Bower on Ryder and Thornton on Lucas.
