Still early doors but this is an eight point game. =)

I'll back in our midfield to get us over the line. Murphy to play a blinder!

Swan had 34 touches and 8 marks.

Define 'restrict'

Most people who watched the game on Friday would say Swan didn't have a big influence on the game. Yes, he had 34 touches but he didn't burn us like he normally does to the opposition - he only had 2 inside 50's against us.

was just thinking that myself! A lot of respect in here. It feels weird like french-kissing your grandma.

I was going to post that picture of that baby with the massive head and make fun of Watson saying it's his baby shot, but instead I might have to say what I really think, which is that he's an outstanding prospect.

*sigh* what's it all come to :(

You have already posted that pic on your own board Lance.

No need for it here ;)

Why should that feel weird for an Essondon supporter?

You guys are doing ok... you have Hird sucking everyone in to thinking that he is actually coaching the club when you really have bummer thompson out back pulling all the strings.

I wonder how Hird feels being a glove puppet for bummer.

But on a serious note... I think that Bower coming in to the side this week will take Hurley with Watson retaining his spot and matching up with Crameri.

Jamo will take Ryder when he is in the forward line.

It should be a worry for you guys if Robinson takes Fletcher again because last year he took him to the cleaners and right out of the ground and you lost most of your drive out of defence.

Curnow will be a good match up with Watson and should be able to negate him with Armfield coming off the bench to take him when Curnow needs a rest.

I dont think that we are going to make the same mistake again of getting Gibbs to try and hard tag someone as he will play a much better game on the attacking side of the centre circle.

The big problem for the bummers is going to be trying to close down Yarrans and Duigans attack out of defence.

No doubt that Essendon have improved since Sir James and Thompson have arrived, but if we play to our best, we should be able to beat them - just. First thing we need to do is limit Watsons influence. We do have some options here. Gibbs did a good job on Pendlebury last week, and might just get the job again this week, He'd actually be my first choice. Not sure what Watson is like going the other way when he doesn't have the footy.

Secondly, we have to limit Essendons run. Guys like Dempsey, Winderlich and co have cut us up in the past, and we have to watch them on Saturday.

Essendons forwardline. Must get the right matchups on Hurley, Ryder, Crameri and Monfries. I'd go for:

Jamison - Ryder
Bower - Hurley
Watson - Crameri.

No way Essendon will go with four talls up there. They'll be way too tall.
JR can take Monfries, and maybe Yaz goes to Jetta. Will match him for pace, and no sure what Jetta is like without the ball.

Just wonder how Essendon will cope with Waite, Henderson, Walker and perhaps our resting ruckmen?

Think it will be close, but perhaps our edge in the midfield, and I don't think we're as exposed to their speed as we once were.

Carlton by 10 points.

Curnow > Jobe. Discuss.

I say this with respect to you guys, but Yarran is probably one of the last guys I'm worried about this week.

Let's hope your coaching staff has the same lax attitude towards the league's premier playmaker :D

Whomb, I'm pretty sure your coaching staff wouldn't be in agreeance with you :)

They would've been watching Yarran closely against the Pies. If you stop him, you stop a lot of our run out of our backline.

He was pretty good against Collingwood on Friday night. I know he can be a bit loose, but his run and carry off HB is a weapon.

Either way, it should be a ripper on Saturday afternoon.
Yeah fair enough, sounds a lot like Dempsey for us.

Absolutely, can't wait! Hope it's a full house.

Jamison -> Ryder. Ryder is their most potent tall forward so we need Jamo on him. Jamo was simply awesome agains the Pies.

Bower -> Hurley. Hurley plays further down the ground so Bower's a good fit. Bower will need to run off him.

Watson = 3rd man up. He's been out-muscled in one on ones so we need him drifting in to cover Jamo and Bower.

Curnow to play tight on Watson. Curnow has the grunt to nullify Watson in the packs.
