Modern footy. He can rack up the Kms at pace. Helping us to get an outnumber around the footy to contribute to our running waves and still get back to be a body in defence.
The game may as well be renamed 'run'.

Apparently I was looking forward to seeing Ruscoe back. Apparently I’m now disappointed. How will the backline cope when Frampton goes into the ruck?

And - does anyone else sense that AJ is about to explode? Hopefully on Sunday.😍

People here were shitting on Markov before we even officially signed him.
Maybe because he’s had his time and it was average at best? Real Bucks type sneaky work here squeezing him into the 22. The only out for me is that it’s in place of WHE.

I don't think our selectors make sneaky decisions. They have been brilliant in their choices over the last year and a bit. I agree with sf36, who says that Markov was selected for his pace to become part of attacking waves from rebound, while still being able to get back for defence. I think Frampton will predominantly ruck, with some assistance from AJ and maybe McStay supplies a very limited chop out, but I believe that we will return McStay to play almost entirely as a forward, where he belongs. We have judged that we don't need another tall defender to deal with St Kilda's short forward line, hence neither Ruscoe nor Wilson were selected in the starting 22. Probably either one will be for the sub, as either has versatility to play either forward or in defence.

He came in as sub ahead of better performed guys at the lower level, struggled first up and is then promoted into the best 22. Compare that to McInnes who was great v Geelong, but rolled out as sub again v Port then needed to be sent back to the VFL to get touch. Fly talks often about setting guys up to succeed yet the treatments different.

Markov is a poor defender and user. From 9 possessions last week only 5 hit the target and he handballed it 6 times he’s a team worst user coming off half back which is concerning with the way we play. Having all the pace in the world doesn’t resolve those issues, but being a coach favourite does. It’s crap.

Myself, I'm not sure about Markov's selection, but explaining him as 'coach's favourite' seems somewhat...deficient.

Setting aside your opinion on the “deficiency” of my comment and dealing only in facts Markov’s manager spoke of their close relationship last week on the AFL websites Gettable show. They’re tight from Fly’s days at Richmond.

If WHE was to ill to be considered for the 22 this week I don't see how he's an option for the sub.

What if he's required come the 1st quarter?

I've got some confidence that Fly will make decisions based on more than a friendship.

Just because you or I might not agree with the selection doesn't mean that he has forfeited a presumption of professionalism.

Oleg has been selected because it will benefit the team.

In Fly we trust.

Your trust is well placed my friend.

Can't see any logic or reason behind selecting Markov over Ruscoe. Ruscoe deserved the call up on the back of a best performance in the reserves, Markov hasn't done anything to warrant a senior gig since coming from being deemed not even part of our best 45 (or whatever the list number is now) to last minute filler.

I'm not putting a line through him or anything and hope he goes well, but it's a pretty average precedent we've set there. Same with Ginnivan, he was genuinely embarrassing to watch in the ressies last week; hopefully he repays the faith.

Come at me bootlickers
