Fly said they expect him to be right and will fly to adelaide tomorrow. If WHE was to ill to be considered for the 22 this week I don't see how he's an option for the sub.
What if he's required come the 1st quarter?

Have you ever played footy? Coach favouritism is rife and linking that with a lack of professionalism is dare I say it… deficient. I have no doubt decisions are made on more than friendship it’s when it’s a line ball call that it rises to the surface. It’s not that difficult be consistent and pick on form not hunches.I've got some confidence that Fly will make decisions based on more than a friendship.
Just because you or I might not agree with the selection doesn't mean that he has forfeited a presumption of professionalism.

FWIW my take is nothing new I made the same comments last week when the rubbish started. Gaben is bang on Markov hasn’t warranted senior footy yet.

For someone that’s played your comments around favouritism seemed odd, but this whole conversation has been that way. I was on both ends as a favourite and on the outer. It is simply factual that it comes into it because coaches are human too.Have I ever played footy? Goodness! Isn't that an odd question!
The painful truth is that I was never a coach's favourite. Too surly. Lost count of the number of McDonalds vouchers I was robbed of.
And now you're suggesting that Fly has considered Markov on merit, but that friendship was the factor which swayed him in a 'line ball call'. There's a fair bit of assumption in that line of thinking, to put it very kindly.
Port one week. Blues the next. Thank you Crows very enjoyable match last night

Nope what I said is it rises to the surface when it’s line ball which was last week. This week it’s clear cut and Ruscoe should have been in the 22 on the basis of his good and Markov’s average performance.

Different coaches. If anything I was the better footballer with experience under the one that didn’t rate me. Sometimes personalities don’t align and we’re looking at one with Frampton who was on the outer with Nicks. Belief is powerful, but in the case of Markov it’s a sunk cost.

I think you're a bit off the mark with this one. Last year we didn't really pick on form. We picked on role. Unlike the old way of picking the inform player in the VFL to play a totally different role in the AFL, they're picking from the blokes who are playing the role they want to fill. They're prefacing system and making sure the incoming player knows how to play the role in the system.Have you ever played footy? Scott did it with StringerI don’t get this burning desire to make Ginny “earn his spot”
He either improves our side and we include him or he doesn’t and is left out. The coaching staff think he improves us and based on how we’ve played the last two weeks I can’t disagree.
Lick your own boots. Can't see any logic or reason behind selecting Markov over Ruscoe. Ruscoe deserved the call up on the back of a best performance in the reserves, Markov hasn't done anything to warrant a senior gig since coming from being deemed not even part of our best 45 (or whatever the list number is now) to last minute filler.
I'm not putting a line through him or anything and hope he goes well, but it's a pretty average precedent we've set there. Same with Ginnivan, he was genuinely embarrassing to watch in the ressies last week; hopefully he repays the faith.
Come at me bootlickers
If you help your team win games you get picked, no matter if you are a complete dropkick. For someone that’s played your comments around favouritism seemed odd, but this whole conversation has been that way. To address the edit that’s absolutely what the thinking is. The problem is his poor ball use. We’re going to lose the territory battle without a recognised ruckman unless Mitchell has a night out. That means we have to move the ball a long way often and need to be on defensively. Ruscoe is both a better user and better defensively to release a guy like IQ who struggled last week v Rayner. The poor ball use will be explained by McRae with his ethos on mistakes which is fine, but when you’re against a turnover team and losing the territory battle turnover kills you in your defenders.
He’s missed out on the first 4 rounds of season I’m pretty sure the standard has been set here.Scott did it with Stringer
Clarkson did it with Goldstein
Smart Coaches set standards with selection regardless of reputation.
They're picking a bloke to play a role. If they want to play Daicos in a different area of the ground and they want to keep the same system of transition out of defence, Markov is far and away the best option. My money is on Nick the mid having commenced.I'm fine with a coach picking players that they rate. But at some stage integrity of selection becomes important if the 'captain's call' pick doesn't work out. One of our huge strengths is our squad unity across the AFL team and the VFL team, One of the quickest way to create fractures is when players start believing the coaches are playing favourites. No need for immediate concerns, just a watch and wait at this stage.
I'd love for Markov to do well for us. The story of him joining us after spending a day at Carlton and contributing to success would be hilariously awesome.
Are you referring to Nick Daicos? Because I don’t see the merit in replacing the most composed player on the list with the least. They're picking a bloke to play a role.
