It’s easy to overreact/over correct after a loss

I’d almost be tempted to go in unchanged honestly. Almost.

Out: Markov
In: Ginnivan, Reef (sub)

Reef doesn’t seem read to play a full game yet but seems to do well as the sub. Maybe let him be the sub some more.

Out: Reef, Sidebottom
In: Ruscoe, Ginnivan
Sub: Sidebottom

Move McStay up forward, Frampton to the ruck and Ruscoe back. McStay in the ruck was useless both in the ruck duels and at ground level. Move him back forward where he can atleast provide structure which was horrible tonight. Moore, Ruscoe and Murphy held up for a game last season I’d have more faith in that defence than a forward line without McStay.

The latter change won’t happen but I’d drop Sidebottom to the sub, move WHE to the wing, Hill to WHE’s high half forward wing role and Ginnivan deep forward pocket. I’ve been critical of WHE but his pace won’t get exposed in space and defensively offers us more aerial cover than Sidebottom. Hill atm has offered some X factor but hasn’t been hugely effective as a crumber front of centre so we should get him up the field into the game more where he can use his pace. Ginnivan’s VFL campaign hasn’t been the best but the effort is there and in slippery conditions we need another opportunist up forward who can think his way better to the goals.

I’d also be tempted to keep Markov in over Quaynor and find a spot somewhere for Ed Allan but that’s too many changes.

Reef was very disappointing.

Quaynor is a panic merchant, and that dropped uncontested mark running back with the flight is a moment he'd probably like again.

Out: Quaynor Reef

In: Markov Allan.

The people calling for Ginnivan in clearly haven't watched any VFL, he was putrid.

Allen would be good although I prefer Allan or Edward. 😁

Yep. Agree. Quaynor has used all his chances so far this year.
Ginnivan does not deserve to play just yet.
Markov and Allan perfect ins

What about

Fly is adament that Steene ain’t ready.
That leaves Frampton as the only one at the club that has bonafide ruck history.
McStay was trash.

In: Ruscoe. He goes no defence. Frampton rucks. McStay stays forward. Johnson helps in the ruck.
Out: McInness

In: Allen
out: WHE
Allen brings WOW. WHE is vanilla.

I think we stick with McStay and Johnson sharing the ruck. Its the best option we have. Cant play Steene, hes not ready.

Markov in for McInnes. Markov to back flank allows Nick Daicos to spend time forward and in middle.

Ed Allan sub?

I don't reckon we want to use Frampton in the ruck, it messes with our backline. We should keep him in defence.

were abysmal, I reckon we gave up at least 7 goals out the back, hammered in the ruck but that’s no surprise, I would’ve moved Moore into the ruck before 3qtr time and swung Checkers back and McStay forward.

Worst game I’ve seen Crisp play, has something else on his mind obviously.

Would love the play steen but nowhere near ready, unfortunately we have to persist until Krueger or Cox are ready.
we won centre clearances but lost around the ground clearances. 11.17 doesn’t help either. I don’t think it was all doom and gloom but definitely some issues we need to sort
IQ isn’t himself
WHE enough is enough
crispy clearly wasn’t in the game
degoey was down
need mcstay forward, I would play Johnson ruck and maybe frampton to help out.
3rd qtr we missed some easy goals which didn’t help
the 2nd half by nick was amazing as well

out Reef, WHE
in allen, ginni

I thought Markov looked pretty handy once he came on, maybe keep him as the sub though for another week as he is a great candidate there.

Regarding the ruck dilemma, who knows. I think stick with McStay/Johnson as I am more loath to mess with the backline than the forward line. Give Kreuger a taste in VFL then rush him straight back the week after.

In: Ginnivan
Out: McInnes

Will adjust depending on what happens with Crispy

OUT: McInnes
IN: Markov

Frampton to full-time ruck with St Kilda's lack of smalls, and Maynard has shown the ability to 'play up' on bigger players when needed. Markov slips into the backline neatly, and might put some heat on Quaynor to lift his game.

I would be very tempted to bring in Allan too, but I don't think another week in the reserves will hurt him. If they do bring him in, I think he comes in for WHE and the Hyphen becomes the sub, due to his versatility.

Otherwise, McInnes probably back to being the sub

I wish it could be

In: Sam Naismith

I said months back that going with two young rucks in Steene and Begg (who isn’t a ruck for mine) was risky

And despite his injury history that Naismith was worth a look at for mature depth

He has dominated in the VFL so far this year

Been a fan of club recruitment recently but the lack of mature ruck depth is a fail and there being exposed for it
