In: Bazzo (into 22), Hough, Long (if available)
Out: Shuey (curse), West, Ginbey (to sub)

Backs: Barrass, Bazzo, Rotham, Witherden, Duggan, Foley, Jones
Mids: Kelly, Edwards, Clark, Gaff, Hunt, Hough
Rucks: Williams, Waterman
Forwards: Allen, Darling, SPS, Petch, Long, Culley, Trew
Sub: Ginbey
Emergencies: West, Barnett, O’Neill

Bring in Bazzo as the extra tall defender to help out with Carlton’s giants.

Good opportunity to give Ginbey half a rest.
Didn’t mind Foley’s game, give him another chance. Also another chance for Trew, no point bringing a young kid in for a week then dropping him.

Please for the love of god try Clark in the middle. No Shuey, Ginbey in the sub vest and Culley suddenly a forward. Now’s the time.

I’m assuming Hough and Long will be available after a week off, but we have to assume with most of our injuries because the club tells us nothing.
Petch. Lol

In:
Bazzo, Hurn, Long, Hough (if fit but prob won’t be)

Out:
Shuey, West, Petch

Might be a surprise return from injury, not sure where guys like Sheed are at.

Trew was invisible but may as well use the games to see what he has.

Please just never play Petch again. I’d rather Will Schofield

I really don't like that metric as about 320 of our games come from one player.

I'd rather see total injured and an estimate of how many are best 22. As others have said, the Saints might have a similar crisis to us but they're going alright.

Hurn wasn’t included in that stat as he wasn’t on the injury list.

I understand the frustration but I think we need to give him if fit at least 5 games in a row to see what he can produce. Yes I know he has played 50 odd games but its always in then out and not a consistent block of games...due to fitness form etc

He is not the only one give them a block of games and then make the decision to trade/delist etc

West, Clark, and Petrucelle and are only ever going to be depth players at best, so they’re only in if we’re short on numbers, which we are at the present time. None of these three would be playing if half our team wasn’t injured. I think Witherden is also in the same space as these three, but he has a few more runs on the board.

Still not sure what to make of Trew, he needs to get in there, get the pill and consider using his foot rather than always looking to hand off. I assume he can kick, haven’t seen it yet. Agee that Bazzo, Hough, Long and Hurn are all starters on Saturday if fit. These four replace West, Clark, Petrucelle and Witherden. As for resting Ginbey….nah, he’s our only big bodied mid and he’s a vital player regardless of his age.

I actually think that Trew needs to be persisted with... i know he didn't touch it in the first half, but after half time i thought he settled in, he had 9 possessions, looked to be 1 touch and wasn't fumbly... he will never be a world beater, but might yet develop into a very good contested player that can feed the ball out.
Nows the time to give him 4 or 5 games and see what he can do with a proper go at it.

I think his role changed after half time and he was given more time on ball. The CBA numbers might confirm that if they’re broken down by quarter, not sure if the numbers HoneyBadger35 has access to give that sort of breakdown.

I thought Witherden showed a bit with his disposal by foot (that's why we traded for him) I would just like him to put on a bit of bulk ...so that he can stand and break through the tackle. Still worth persisting with

Trew the same Simmo did mention in the pressie that "he has sticky hands" lets hope he can kick on a bit

Petruccelle is literally a free hit at selection for the time being. There’s no one he’s keeping out of the side and he’s shown he can play at a good level when everything clicks

His problem is that level clicks at a frustratingly low regularity, even within games let alone week to week, so he’s a giant tease.

Durability has also been an issue for him but his opportunity is now - stay on the park, get games and find some consistency and who knows in his 6th year as he gets into that 60-80 games range that click becomes permanent or at least more regular

I haven’t lost hope in him but it’s fading

I feel like Trews will get cut at years end even tho I really like what I see of his inside work. He’s a natural inside player tge way he read the ball out of a rucomens hand and how clean and quick his hands are. His issue is that he is still very small to play that role against men. Love that he tries to take players on but he just doesn’t have the strength to break tackles or fend off against mature AFL bodies

Yeah I feel like him and Winder are both on the way out.

i’m not as big on Winder tbh.

I’m hoping with Trew they perhaps give him another year just like they gave with XOn. Culley/Ginbey are the real young inside mids we have but both tend to be brutes that win it through size than craft. Trew actually has genuine craft to his game and might be the type of kid that comes on when he physically develops

Be interesting to see if Trew continues to get games over XON (assuming we get the choice) for the next few weeks

Agreed but the true quality of a player shows when the chips are down. Otherwise they’re ‘downhill skiers’.
Petch has had a habit in the past though of receiving votes in here during losses. What to make of that?

Rather see guys who have already had 50 games or even 100+ (and still haven’t established themselves) be cut before those with 10, 20 or less.
Depends on who, don't think either of these two are likely to be AFL quality and they're just taking up spots on the rookie list at the moment (which is a whole other conversation - when was the last time we actually hit on a decent best 22 player in the rookie draft?), so no great loss to turn them over. If they can't show something this year then there's no point persisting any further imo.

Please take no offence by this intrusion. We are playing s**t this year, but I am shocked by your injury list.

Are you having to use players in their non-natural position?

Yes but only really in the forward line, I think otherwise we’ve at least got players in their preferred position even if they’re not our preferred players.
