Good win.

Best thing was seeing some of the young guys come in and show that they can play at this level and improved the team, adding spark and energy to the team.

Richards - I had written him off after watching a couple of VFL games last year. I was wrong. He showed great composure, skills and effort

Reef - he shows a lot. Great lead, pretty good overhead, really good for his size when the ball hits the ground. Just needs consistent game time at AFL level.

Fin - answered all the critics. Definitely better than VFL player. Great contest, skills were good, didn't panic. Same as Reef - needs more AFL game time.

Frankly, it was good to get suspensions and injuries, otherwise these guys likely would not have got much than rotating sub roles this year.

Have only managed to catch the first and last quarters but needless to say we got the result we wanted other than injuries. Looking forward to seeing the 2nd and 3rd. Go Pies back in the 8👍

Great post, covered everything i was thinking , the future looks a little brighter when we say goodbye to some of our old troopers.

Great solid win. 2 debutants, a second gamer and so many injuries. Naicos and Crisp best on ground but so many other contributors.

We tired towards the end which was expected considering we had to use the sub so early and so many players injured during the game.
And only 2 on Bench in last qtr

Darcy Cameron was outstanding today I thought
Gave us first use time and again and his contested marking was excellent
Maybe his best game for us
Best Game I seen Cameron play today

Fixed it for you…

Need to back it up need more then good 1st Half
🤦🏻‍♂️ you’re a hard man to please TD. Probably what I was talking about earlier.

Richard’s first half was electric and understandable he ran out of legs being a first gamer and young, plus no one on the bench in the last quarter. Deserves to be there next week.

Nice win given the circumstances. Losing Howe, Harrison and Bytel in-game a disappointment. Hopefully their injuries aren’t too bad. Bytel will obviously miss a week. Schultz, McCreery, and Elliott all potentially available for the Crows.

This was a great win, largely thanks to midfield dominance. Great to see the newbie inclusions having an impact.

We definitely need players back ASAP tho. Were able to win this due to absolute midfield dominance. Later when we weren't quite getting the same run and were relying on longer kicks, without marking targets we struggled. Better teams who can put up an effort in the middle will be a tough ask.

Nick topped the tackle count, clearances, centre clearances, disposals, AFL Fantasy thingo and contested possessions.
But yeah, Dermie, Harley Reid...
Yep. Insane on socials too, the amount of people (like anyone who’s not a pies supporter) saying Reid is better than Nick. Like, he might get there one day, and you can see his brilliance in flashes, but as it stands there’s a gulf between the two.

Great win from you. Smashed us in the first half and by half time the game was over. You probably didn't try in the second half considering the injuries you had but it maybe concerning if it's against another top contending team and the margin at half time is closer.

Anyways good luck with the rest of the year, I think you'll make another GF if your team is fit and firing.

Told yas. Best Fin has looked in the seniors since his first year. Forward/mid is his jam.

Super pleased with Reef’s effort today too, negated McGoverns intercept game for large periods and then hit the scoreboard when he went off hurt.

Richards surpised the hell out of me. Never been that impressed with him at the lower level but he stepped up his game extraordinarily today.

Howe and HH getting injured puts a dampener on the day, but overall thrilled to see some of the younger boys step up, even if it was against relatively weak opposition.
Agree re: Fin. He isn’t inside at all. Was great today. Fumbled inside, but outside and running he was fantastic. Nice call.

Richard’s…I’ve been a fan because even at VFL, he was super clean and decisions/disposals aligned. So wasn’t surprised. Even commented pre-season that from Jen’s footage he looked good on offense.
My query was defensively. But he was adequate 1v1.

Looked at the level (albeit against rubbish oppo)….if that’s what he brings, big win.

The climb back up the ladder seems to have been slow, but we've now gone 6 weeks without a loss. Almost a perfect recovery from the 0-3 start. Keep it up over the next couple weeks, going to be tough depending on when Mihocek returns, and we're likely to be up in the top 4.

Was good to smash a team we should have smashed

Really want Steele in particular to maintain at least close to that standard for the remainder of the season.

Richards looks AFL standard, Fin was solid and will gain a tonne of confidence from his performance today

That was probably Crisps best game as a pure mid. Unreal

Darcy Cameron’s best game of the season too

Cox was surprisingly down. Given he rarely had an opponent taller than a head shorter than him I would have expected him to take way more marks

Terrible Ground
Old guy alert. Back in the VFL H&A days, a lot of the grounds were pretty ordinary. A lot had a cricket pitch in the middle that became like a cheese grater after drying out from being chopped up when it was a bog.
But you try telling the young people of today that, and they won't believe you.

Cox competed well, did his job.

Great win u der the circumstances.I was worried how we were going to kick a winning score with so many forwards out,but as usual we just knuckled down and gave a full team effort to produce the score.Richards was very impressive in his debut, such a smart player.Sidey back to his best,as was Cameron.I just hope we can get some players back for next week,as Adelaide are going to be much, cub tougher to beat than West Coast were today.

Agree on Fin. Looked his best as a link up player and across half forward. Inside he fumbled a couple times and lost us the ball.

The three goals looks great, but just not sure he fits into the team as that type of player. Doesn’t have elite pace, skill or running power. His performance is a positive, but not as much as Richards and Sullivan, who have clear AFL roles right now. Sullivan impressive in close and is the clear Mitchell reserve.
