Kane has stuck his nailed his colours to the mast on the 10 year coaching without a flag deserve to get the arse theory. Hes been saying iymt for a while. Will be interesting if he continues down this road, especially when Hinkley looks wobbly next year, or the club/Hinkley get him to desist. If Kane starts up the pressure, Hinkley will have nobody left except Club employee Rucci who's profile ain't what it used to be and that big nose sycophant Whateley.

Kane isn't one to flip easily as we have seen with his defence of Ken.

Now that he has headed down this path he will be like a dog with a bone.

Kane has realised Warren is making more media noise and isn’t he in the business to make headlines?

Maybe the media guys are just waking up to the unrest.

I love when he when he said it only took 3 years for me to win a flag I didn’t feel like a ling time (in relation to the lost prelims) - then went on to say Ken is going into his 9th year…

The club is feeling some heat, Hinkley isn’t great with that but it’s not going to go away for two reasons.

1: If we don’t back it up next year with a GF performance it’s a fail

2: Ken is on his last two years, there are no more contracts, the club knows the 10% is larger and growing so we are at the point end of the wedge.

I'm glad that Tredders and Kane are attempting to keep the club accountable. Someone with public profile needs to do it. Even better, those with the runs on the board to do it, who the Facebook crowd can't simply write off as "haters" and "Vic/media flogs"

It is funny though, because the club made all the same noises as it is doing now from 2001-2003 about the comical finals exits. It's rewriting history to suggest otherwise. There was no apology or accountability, there was "I'm spewing" (Tredders) and "We've given the fans a lot of enjoyment" (Choco). The same feeling of "this is never going to happen" permeated this board.

Perhaps those two could frame it as the club not repeating the mistakes (in fact, some good parallels have been drawn with dismissing the 2007 GF as an off day). Will the world really cave in if the players and coaches showed some contrition to the fans for their performance?

Kane and Tredders are more qualified than anyone to comment. They choked and they eventually won one. They would know more than anyone what motivated them and would have had a front row seat to the Chocco v Scott stuff during that time. Given its I've of the first things Chocco said when he won it, maybe the Scott stuff helped more than it hurt? Also everyone would look back on that time, including Tredders and Kane and say we didn't get the most out of our success during that time.

That would be an excellent way to frame it

After the miserable walk to the car from the prelim that I’m trying to forget, my son put his head in his hands and said he didn’t want to go to School on Monday. “I’m going to get so much sh*t“ it turns out he’d been a bit overzealous in his expectations and had talked a big talk about Port heading to the Granny. Treadrea and Cornes aren't any different. Both had too much to say in the lead up to the prelim and ended up with egg on their face. And now they’re angry.

It’s been an interesting week this week compared to last week. Watching Ollie and Travis on Sunday night I realised while they don’t have a premiership just yet they do have something Cornes and Treadrea will never have, and that’s class.

Wines and Boak were brilliant spokespeople and leaders on Sunday, and not just for Port but for the game. I listened to Ollie on about ten different media platforms today and realised I need to remove myself from this thread as it’s toxic, unproductive and the definition of insanity. Same sh*t, over and over, whether we‘ve won or lost.

Ken has another year on his contract, and he will get his year next year. He’s got us to two prelims in a row and failed on both occasions. The players love him and they're determined to in Ollies words tonight “get Ken the premiership he deserves”.

I’ll show myself out, promise to stay away from this thread and not ruin it with positivity, will stick to the other topics. 👍🏻
Imagine posting 'Warren Tredrea has no class' and 'I'll try not to ruin this thread with my positivity' in the same post. **** off you absolute campaigner. Warren Tredrea has more class than a sycophant coward like you could ever dream of.

Little bit of hypocrisy there Schulzy given what you said re Wazza's COVID comments?

My cherry pick is:

Yu would in the above bracket?

And the great man agrees

Wait so the people inside the club come out and say "the loss was an abomination" and former players in the media start asking questions and positing theories about why it happened and suddenly they're being ungrateful? I might be being unfair because we don't know if it was CD who was feeding this to Caro but that means that either that was just empty words or him and whoever is talking are not on the same page about how acceptable the prelim was.

I thought K Cornes was ok last night saying you’re in an awkward position commenting on your former team’s performance. Mentioned he’s given Ken a good run and, let’s face it, probably feels indebted to him somewhat for extending his career. But you get the feeling it’s starting to wear a bit thin on him too now with his comments re toughening up.

"Kane Kornes, you were wrong" would make me happy on so many levels.

I don't understand the complaining about the warranted criticism that Tredders & Kane put out there after that disgraceful performance in the prelim. It was warranted, and deserved criticism. It wasn't like they were firing shots for the sake of it, they were firing the shots that 90% of the supporter base was thinking post & during that game.

For some at the club to think that's harsh, they have no idea. I've grown up listening to stories from my Dad, my Uncle Paul about how brutal post game functions at Alberton were if they lost, our club doesn't tolerate that crap like they dished up in the prelim. Never has and it shouldn't start now cause a few people's feelings got hurt.

It's elite sport and with all the praise and adulation that comes when things go well, there's criticism that comes when it goes to shit. None of this oh well you've tried crap.

I think the club got pissed off they were being potted from everyone including 2 ex players who went thru something similar in 2002-03. Rucci writing and talking about this similar past, is a dead give away.

But the club left itself open that it said nothing for 3 days until CD came out and said it was an abomination at his Wednesday presser.

They then wanted Tredders to do a softball interview with Hinkey with psycophant Rowe, when he finally fronted up on Friday to AA.

To be fair to the club and Hinkley they did have to do exit interviews last week and these indeed were more important than worrying about the media.

They could have done a short Monday presser and then got on with the exit interviews but Hinkley was still shell shocked and dumbed found. Wanting to love and be loved by the players he wouldnt have been able to pot them individually on the Monday. The presser might have turned into an absolute farce.

But the club left a vacumn and the media filled it. Social Media commentary also filled the gap. The club cant whinge about that. They know how things work.

They were probably pissed off Tredders was blunt with his questions, not nice blokey like tone to them, but his follow up questions to Hinkley's answers was a bit soft IMO.

I dont think the club then spent Saturday and Sunday talking to the media and saying its all unfair. I wouldnt be surprised if Hinkley spoke to his Vic media mates directly or indirectly and had a whinge.

Once CD called it an abomination the club knew they had no chance of controlling the narrative.

This was raised again on a Monday footy show 9 days after PF loss, not because the club is pushing its unfair everyday to the media, its because the questions havent been properly answered why Port failed, the media have to fill space in GF bye week, something they've never done before and the Clarko's decision ie timing, ties in with it a bit.

The media circus will move on to something else soon enough.
