His gut reaction is going to be to hang on to Ken or give him an extension because it's a chance to flex and stroke his ego now that Ken is "in demand"

Ken has probably had enough, he will sit out his last year, take the cash and ride a greyhound into the sunset.....

Koch's head may explode at any moment......

Don't be surprised if Koch panics and gives an extension to donuts. It's happened before.
This could be Ken and his management paying journalists for comment. It's happened before.

I smell a rat.

So we're in the conversation as the biggest disappointment of the year but because we finish with two wins against cellar dweller sides it's all good??

Bloody hell even ESPN been drinking the club’s koolaid

Man Utd score their first win of the season against formidable arch rival Liverpool after a disasterous first two games losing to Brighton and Brentford.
(I must admit I'd never heard of Brentford prior to this).
The new manager drops Cristiano Ronaldo and captain Harry MacGuire for the match and starts to get some real "hunger" and "leadership".

Would love some stats on when an easy draw getting you to the finals actually resulted in a flag. Even then, those figures at times would be skewed by the really great teams whose first year of rising was a surprise.

An easy draw, shouldn't be what's required to win a flag, if you want to be the best you should be able to beat anyone, anywhere, anytime. We have certainly not gone anywhere near that level in the Hinkley era.

I'm hearing that the club, even Koch, has asked if Ken would move on, but Ken wants the money owed to him, so has never contemplated a amicable parting.

If that is 100% true, then it should be a rough ride for Ken next year knowing the club wants him gone.

And with a soft draw that gets us into finals on wins against cellar dwellers next year all will be good again...

Unbelievable.

Doesn't make sense given the bald sycophant has been warning clubs off his prized coach on the regular. If this is the scenario surely we'd be giving our blessings in the background and saying nothing publicly.

Club is just a pay cheque, utter campaigner

It's not Ken Hinkley's fault he's owed ~$700k. If he wants it, give it to him. There's no point burning another year with a coach who we want out and who wants to be out.

Just pay him the * out
$0.7m is pigeon shit to reinvigorate a stale circa $40m revenue p.a. business that allegedly made a $4m profit.

I personally think that Hinkley is the Perfect choice for Essendon's coach. They are a basket case on & off field. Hinkley was great as a coach for Port in those early One-Club years, and just about everyone had an "In Ken We Trust" signature embedded in their footer. He has some really positive qualities as a coach that IMO is what they need at this point.

Ken's time with us is over, and the best thing for all parties is to engineer a deal.

Article sort of assumes that Essendon as a big V club can just walk in and take him....

Irrespective of how good we think he is....

(We don't and I damn well hope they can and do)
