The only changes I would make would be if Wright or Armo (or any other player really) couldn't get up.

Out: Wright
In: Lonie
Like for like crumbing defensive small forward kamikaze. Lonie was 23rd man on Saturday night so he's obviously on the cusp in the coaches eyes. He hasn't played for 2 weeks, though.

Out: Armitage
In: Templeton
Tore the Carlton 2s to shreds. Acres and Weller to help fill Armo's hole in the centre.

Weller will be like a man possessed, he's been in the best form of his career and gets to shove it up the team that discarded him.
Like the change of Lonie for Wright.
Feel he can bring a similar amount of pressure and play a very similar role.
Billings would be a different change.

on recent form, wright without a question

billings needs to get fit and then work his way back

I tend to disagree V Carlton Wright was didn't influence the game he only had 5 disposals for the match, and Saturday night he kicked two early goals and then went missing.
He also very nearly cost us the game with that shocking turnover which resulted in Motlop missing in the square.

Billings also said he'll be right against GC so obviously if he is fit by Saturday he should take Wrights spot, he is one of our best kicks inside 50 and we know he is class and a match winner and is influential on the game and arguably our brightest young player can't say the same about Wright. So thats why I say pick Billings if fit over Wright.

When did JB say this?

Out: Armitage, Wright
In: Templeton, Lonie.

I would be half-tempted to bring in Curren, just to give him a chance to see whether he steps up and takes it. He's not a world-beater by an stretch, but he hasn't had much of a go.
On the flip-side, need to play the best team possible and I think Lonie is a better option than Curren.

Anybody know how far away Billings is?

Curren is out for about 4 weeks with a calf so his year is basically over unfortunately.

OK, didn't know that, feel sorry for him. As a long-time lurker of this board, there was high hopes of him at one stage.

Wright most certainly didnt go missing. He went off with a shoulder injury then came back on and did nothing but pressure acts the rest of the game. Absolute trooper.

With the development of a good fleet of smaller players it's time we put the acid on them that poor disposal won't cut it any more. As much as I like Acres and Dunstan their disposal by foot is below acceptable standard. Dunstan struggles to kick more than 40 metres and Acres just struggles to spot up a target. Wright's turnover goal against the Cats just wasn't AFL standard either. Whilst we have the luxury of adequate replacements they should be sent back to Sandy to improve their skills if it continues.

To be fair I should add Gilbo to that list.

So you want those 4 players dropped this week? Surely you are joking? Why not add Geary as well? It would be great to have 22 skilled players but some players whilst they maybe ordinary kicks add other things to the side and also the younger players would lose confidence if dropped because they cant kick.

I'd prioritise picking players who show A+ effort with limited skills over skills with sometimes cruisy effort at this stage in our course, and then attempt to recruit highly skilled players and instil within them the effort that Geary et al shows.

Wright had 3 tackles and 0 x 1%ers.

Anyway I just said I'd rather Billings playing instead of him thats the point I am making. Someone who is a match winner, our brightest young player and someone who will influence the contest with their class. Anyway lets comeback to this Thursday night when the match committee have their say

Dunstan can kick 50 with relative ease.

They aren't great kicks but Jack Steveb wasn't a great kick and they managed to develop him into a solid kick.
The kids will still play if they crack in and find it. Blake & Luke ie

Lol the only way Wright is missing this week is if he is injured.

Definitely earned another game.

The opportunist goals of his definitely set the ball rolling. Also that shoulder injury occurred at the very very beginning of the second quarter, so he effectively played three entire quarters through the pain with a busted shoulder. Whatever it was it definitely wasn't minor pain, the way he ferociously attacked the ball and got it to our advantage and then seeing him on the ground once the ball was clear grimacing in pain is something all of our boys need to recognise and appreciate. Ridiculous how he was still one of our hardest at it despite the shoulder troubles and the way he waited until after he ensured the ball was delivered to a teammate to show any signs of pain is admirable. Always knew he was tough but this took my respect for him to a new level.

After what he said at the game I'm confident that Billings will play

IN DOUBT: Armitage, Wright.

IN THE MIX: Templeton, Murdoch, McKenzie, White?

Would be handy to have another tall defender, Keys doesn't have the mobility for Lynch. If Lee doesn't get a look in then we'll probably make do with Delaney close to goal, then Gilbert and Roberton to chase Lynch up the ground.

Newnes to run with GAJ.

Saints by a smallish margin.

This is a real danger game I have no doubt. GAJ is starting to find form and they have two talls in Lynch (great player) and 2MP who is up and coming. We're currently one key defender short with Lee out so hoping he comes back in as we do need him. Gilbo and Roberton are not key defenders.

I'm always surprised when they put Sam Gilbert back on the key defender to quell his influence when Roberton is the same height but at least 10kg heavier and would be a better matchup....

Roberton will have to play on Wright this weekend I assume which is abit of a worry

thought acres' kicking was the best I've seen from him on saturday night, just off the top of my head the kicking inside 50 to Membrey and the beautifully weighted pass late in the game in the middle, got lucky with that holding the ball but other than that can't remember him making too many mistakes, looked strong in the contests/tackles as well

Seemed a little unaware afew times was lucky to get away with Duncan tackle late on the wing.
Other than that was great.
Interesting to see where he continues to play lots saying he's going to be a contested beast but he continues to play out on the wing
