I think what he'll do is bring systems and set plays to make us up to date. I expect a much more team orientated side. Ross has his stars but what his sides do well is work hard and work for each other. Our depth is a strength and if we can utilise that with his systems based game plan I think we might surprise a few.
Great observation. Indeed it could be argued that Lyon’s teams have had elite top end talent but have lacked depth among the bottom 6-8 players in the team.
This has been arguably been a factor in the 2009, 2010 and 2013 Grand Finals and the 2015 Preliminary Final. It is entirely possible that Lyon’s systems and processes could be even more effective in a team with strong depth.
Top end talent may not necessarily offset this lack of depth in a team in big games or tight finals. Indeed our team, while lacking enough top end talent, has depth. RTB could really build a formidable tight knit unit that holds up in big games with such a list.
