Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Those picks in the teens were going at a premium though

Our R2 and ports R2 - originally 19 and 33 weren’t going to be better than what other clubs were putting up
I dunno. North got what is currently pick 18 with a future endoffirstroundcompensation pick. I reckon if we'd got in first with our future 2nd plus something for points this year GC would have taken it.

Connors Sports trade week breakfast this morning. Who is the unnamed interviewer there? Is that Sam McClure?!?!

Hmmm I don’t like the looks of this.

McClure being fed inside information from Connors and Gieschen perhaps is why he was so adamant that we won’t be taking Reid?

Strange choice of MC.

Given we now have the most compromised draft in history , time to take Reid at 1, walk Brockman and justify it on the basis of being a historically bad club that has no other options given the draft PP/Compo pick shiteshow.

The AFL is confirmed as an out of control bureaucracy gone mad that sees it need to intervene as justification for 2 more interventions (and on and on).

The draft might as well be done away with and simply have the AFL decide who will play where each year until it gets its desired results.

I wonder if we do keep pick 1, and curtin slides.

Potentially we could look at say trading into pick 6-7 for our F1, and also asking for a late first round pick/early second round pick as well? Most other teams would bank on us being bottom 2, and could net us Curtin and another pick to go with our second rounder this year?

Any consideration of trading our F1 into the live draft for Curtin needs to be accepting that we will need to pay overs to acquire the pick/player, just as we have received in the past to trade down.

I would expect the asking price would be a straight swap of a top 6 pick this year for our F1. Nothing coming back our way. So it will boil down to how much we rate Curtin and his midfield potential versus the predominantly Vic Metro options projecting to go early next year.

Just give him 1.2 mill a year and pull a Luke Jackson on North if he comes good

They can have a 1 year rental

FWIW I would not be celebrating just yet. Plenty to play out and unless the Eagles come out and say we're taking Reid with pick 1 anything can happen up until we lock that pick in.

Few more rounds of interviews and discussions and other teams working out exactly what they'll have.

Also Eagles are considerably more into McKercher than publicly known and no he is not a risk to flee to Tassie team.
I agree that he is not really a flight risk at this stage. Seems like a great kid that would be loyal. But the vAFL have not yet come up with what assistance they will provide the team and how they will build their list.

One scenario could be allowing extra money to be paid to a few marquis players to return to Tassie. If a player like McKercher was offered an extra $500k it would make it hard to say no.

If we pick Reid, and he wears no. 9, there's a good chance that it will be greatest run for a jersey of all time.

Would expect to add another 2 or 3 best and fairests, and 4 or 5 all austrailains at a minimum to that list.
Apologies to anyone who's posted this but bit stiff to leave out Peter Wilson, 2 flags, 3GFs extremely under rated Eagles player.

Time to build a Dynasty team.
It starts with drafting the BEST available with what picks you have.
We did well last year, very well if we include Culley and Maric.
JTR and nail 2/3 more picks, which will be the hard part not knowing what those picks will be and who will be left.
Bring in Brockman as cheap as we can, PSD if needed.

Get up that ladder.
Win a final or two.
Take out a few Prem's

Then say
We did it Without AFL Assistance, Draft Tampering or crying "WE WANT MORE"

P.S not saying we will be doing the finals thing next year. Would like to though before a few other heavily assisted teams.

Willo was one of my favourite eagles back in the day. Hard as a cat's head, heart pinned to his sleeve.

Has the best goal commentary of all time.

I’m not worried about Reid himself. He’ll boss it wherever he goes.

The euphoria from yesterday has died off a bit though. Tapered perhaps.

I still think we’ll draft him but North aren’t done with offers.
Pants was right. Again. Damn you pantskyle

And whether we think with our F1 we could get a good midfielder next year in a draft that is supposed to have a lot of very good mids.

If we go after Curtin with an early pick it should be as a defender.
if we want a mid then we should use an early pick to select one.

We have a long and unsuccessful history of recruiting defenders that we think could play in the midfield. Shep being one that we used pick 7 on. Great player but not a mid.
