Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

The insane offer isn’t coming though, only North have the capital to give us one and they aren’t serious about it. They offered us 4 junk picks, they’ve made it abundantly clear they won’t part with 2 and 3 or their future 1st.

I’m just saying everyone should be prepared for a 2, 15 and 18 type offer potentially being accepted and us being dumb enough to grab Curtin at 2.

i want to keep 1.
but i could live with 2 15 17 and 18 -- that's assuming we take mckercher with 2. -- not keen on curtin at all.

still you rather have another pick near 10 to get one of the KPDs.

I choose to believe in Gossage.

But I have to say. There's only so many combos you can present a new offer with your existing hand.

That I think once Wednesday is over I doubt we will trade Reid.

The idea that norf would hail Mary at the last second with a new offer is fantasy. In fact I'd say the offer has to be even higher on draft day.

I think melb are out of the equation by Wednesday if they haven't gotten anymore picks.

Once the trade period ends, I think talks will only ramp up tbh. If we still hold pick 1 after November 10th, then I think we’re likely to keep it as I can’t see a trade of this magnitude going down on draft night but who knows.

The thing is what can norf do

2 and 3

2, 15 17 18

3 15 17 18

3 18

There's so limited mathematical combos beside bringing melb into a three way trade.

Like we know their hand/points by Wednesday. We can't really tell them to get more points it will be give us points or these picks or else.

Nothing they offer can surprise us. Since their hand/points is set

Curtin said just yesterday he's only spoken to WCE once, and that was at the combine.

WCE flew to Tasmania just a couple of weeks ago to do a home visit at McKercher's place.

Which player(with McKercher being rated well higher than Curtin) would you assume off that would WCE be more into?

The bloke in their home state they only spoke to at the Melbourne combine, or the bloke they flew to Tassie to do a home visit for?

They give us 2 and 3, plus an end of first rounder

Or at worst they give us 2 for McKercher and pick 6/7 for Curtin plus end of first rounder. They'd have to go get that by trading those crap end of first round picks for the pick from Melbourne/GWS.

I would rather we just take Reid, but we can't make a trade that leaves us without McKercher and Curtin at a minimum.

I’d take 2,15,17 and 18 in a heartbeat, but North aren’t going to offer that.

Also yeah the deal is a lot worse if we take anyone but McKercher at 2.

No one credible has said we flew to Tasmania to meet McKercher though. I’m pretty sure you guys are running with that because a BigFooty poster said so.

Yeah I said so and I am highly rated.

you really think 2 + a couple of picks in the 20s will move the needle when two top 5 picks + a player from the hawks was immediately rejected? i doubt it.

Doesn't matter what I think.

Lol and I respect your gimmick and I don’t mean any disrespect but I’m not going to act like news coming from you is 100% accurate.

Haha that's fair.

Weird interview. Not great questions and ROB not wanting to give anything away obviously. Not really sure why he did that one, his previous ones have all seemed to have more of a point to them. Only real takeaway is that they are in absolutely no rush to make any decision.
It was probably ROBs subtle way of letting Trade Radio know what a bunch of sensationalist fukcwits they all are and that he has no respect for the program so will trot out the most inane answers possible and give nothing away.

Seems to have upset a few bedwetters round here who are now convinced #1 will be shipped off for 2 late R1s and a half eaten pie, but I liked it.

Bloody rollercoaster this will we, won’t we draft Reid. Every time I start to think we’re going to take him, something happens to change my mind. That interview felt very much like an advertisement for #1. There was no other purpose to it but to confirm we are still open to trading #1.
Talked up Curtin, said we’re not decided on #1 even though the whole world knows Reid is #1. You don’t have to say anything definitive but you can talk him up without saying what you’re going to do.

I smell a mega trade with North and Melbourne
I’m guessing if we get 2&6 and a later first round, we going to take it.

Look I didn't want to original say anything publicly but what Reid is saying publicly may not be what he has told at the very least one Victorian club. If we take Reid I'm not really concerned he'll leave in a few years because I do think he means what he says about being loyal to whomever takes him. But it certainly gives a Vic team a passage to trade for pick 1.

Eagles sneak in a Tassie visit to see McKercher, rate him as the best mid in the draft and regardless of the potential new Tassie team he has no go home concerns. So maybe they see the idea of getting 2 and a few more top 20 picks as a good enough deal. McKercher could very well become the best player from this draft.

Okay but how does this somewhat speculative (even if informed) view translate into "absolutely" and "guaranteed"?

I do wonder if Curtin declaring his intentions to play midfield has changed clubs opinions, more so those that have early picks and would prefer to just draft the better mids.

Talking points from Trade Radios chat with Rohan O'Brien

+ Says we haven't decided who we would take with Pick 1 (Why the * would you say that you muppet??!!)

+ Doesn't see the draft as shallow, more even. Sees a whole group of players bulked together.

That was almost a complete waste of time.
ROB says that on our draft hand each and every year - he therefore avoids the need to vomit our intentions. I am personally fine with that. Why change this year? A bit harsh to call him a muppet I feel when it is text book negotiations 101.

In terms of draft - he said there was a great top end and after that it was not shallow but even. We have had many informed posters saying that exact thing. The club's draft boards will look very different once it tips over 20.

Okay but how does this somewhat speculative (even if informed) view translate into "absolutely" and "guaranteed"?

They are both fairly strong words aren't they.

even if we havent locked on a player, for optics point of view and strengthening our bargaining position wouldnt it make more sense to say we absolutely have locked in on a prospect.

ohwell at the end of the days these interviews have to be taken with a grain of salt.
Yeah I think that’s the issue I had with it, it just felt like we weakened our position a bit for any huge offers. If I’m another team I wouldn’t be offering the farm to eagles right now for pick 1, he made it sound much more gettable than it should be
I also think he devalued it a bit with the way he spoke about rival clubs interest, clubs offers, if we’d trade it. Made it sound like there wasn’t huge interest.

He should have said something like “we are excited to have pick 1, plan on taking it to the draft and aren’t actively shopping it or putting a price on it, but we will do our due diligence by listening to offers. There’s been a lot of interest around the league in it. We have had some initial offers over the past week but I expect that will ramp up with some more serious offers in the coming weeks once teams draft hands have settled once player movement is finished”
