Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

That’s the thing though that interview didn’t seem like a straight bat. It sounded more like an advertisement for #1 and without particularly talking it up very well. He’s been good so far this trade period but it’s been a long week and don’t think that was a good interview. Don’t think he increased the value of #1

Pretty much everyone knows pick 1 is HR (Sam Mcflog about the only one who hasn’t worked it out) - so talking up the value means talking up the player.

The issue with that is if you trade the pick as a list manager you look foolish.

ROB has a simple formula. Answer the question that is asked, no more no less, unless it gives anything away then give a generic answer. Curtin question is a perfect example, was asked about a player and gave his opinion (but not any relative rating or comparison to other players)

Like it was reported after the combine, passing up on Reid could cost a recruiter their job. We would have to get something massive for us to take that risk. It would have to be a deal where we still come out smelling like roses even if Reid becomes the next Gary Ablett SNR

How many flags did GAblett SNR win? ;)

I’ve heard him talk up Reid in the past and joke about his value. He didn’t even have to name him. Just had to say yes we know who we want if we still hold the #1 pick.
I’m not sure that saying that we haven’t decided who we would pick at 1 is portraying the correct image. We should be promoting the idea that Reid is a generational talent and if you want him you have to pay up. Not that we aren’t even sure he’s the #1 pick.

Look I didn't want to original say anything publicly but what Reid is saying publicly may not be what he has told at the very least one Victorian club. If we take Reid I'm not really concerned he'll leave in a few years because I do think he means what he says about being loyal to whomever takes him. But it certainly gives a Vic team a passage to trade for pick 1.

Eagles sneak in a Tassie visit to see McKercher, rate him as the best mid in the draft and regardless of the potential new Tassie team he has no go home concerns. So maybe they see the idea of getting 2 and a few more top 20 picks as a good enough deal. McKercher could very well become the best player from this draft.
Is your comment that McKercher has no go home concerns based only on the statements that he sees himself as a loyal person and would like to be a one club player? Or do you have more information in that regard?

If you’re basing it just on his comments, I think it’s a stretch to say there's no go home concerns given the unprecedented events that will present when Tassie enters the comp..

Based on his interview.

Also Tassie is a bit boring.

3 team trade, who says no?

WC give: 1
WC get: 2 and 6

NM give: 2 and 3
NM get: 1, 11, future 3rd (MEL)

MEL Give: 6 and 11, future 2nd
MEL get: 3, future 3rd (NM)

West Coast draft McKercher at 2, Curtin at 6

North give up 2 and 3 but draft Reid at 1, get 11 back - still maintain 15,17,18 - can move two of those picks to potentially move up to say Geelong’s pick 8 too

Melbourne move up to get their key target in Duursma

Is it a future 2nd or 3rd North/Melb are trading?

I think I'd still prefer Harley

If ROB comes out and says ‘yes we know who we are taking if we have pick one’. Straight away that gets rid of the North don’t have to trade for it theory.

We will clearly take Reid with pick 1 if we have it. Not sure if this approach is getting the offers we thought.

Take Reid unless we get 2 & and top 6 pick some how.

Harley was busy getting bog’s in the VFL while everyone else was adding to your amazing spreadsheet in the u18’s cob.

Exactly this and not counting games players off injuried. Harley missed a couple. The list is pointless as an indicator. The players that played all games in under 18 injury free obviously will have higher stats.

Performance in VFL games mean way more

RoB interview reads like a trade of p1 is inevitable but who knows what's really going on.

Having read a lot of the past pages, I do wonder though how many posters on here who are adamant on JTR over a combo of other players are just going off of the hype, YouTube highlights, and other people's opinions (like me)?
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the industry consensus that he's the clear best available has truth to it but I've done zero watching of footage, stat crunching, and clearly am not a recruiter who knows what traits to look for outside of the basic stats.

So, with that said, JTR.
(But also happy to get a few good players instead, whilst maintaining/improving the club's draft hand next year when there will be a lot of mids).

They give us 2 and 3, plus an end of first rounder

Or at worst they give us 2 for McKercher and pick 6/7 for Curtin plus end of first rounder. They'd have to go get that by trading those crap end of first round picks for the pick from Melbourne/GWS.

I would rather we just take Reid, but we can't make a trade that leaves us without McKercher and Curtin at a minimum.
Can you guys seriously cut this 2 and 3 crap out? Double so for 2, 3 and anything else. Put it in the ****ing bin.

It’s laughable any of you think that’s going to happen.
North aren’t going to tank their hand for Reid. Yes we can get 2. Yes there’ll be something else. Possibly another something else. Possibly not.

If you honestly think the proposed trade quoted is a remote possibility then kindly delete your BigFooty account. You’re making the rest of us look moronic for bandying that around.

My stance would be 2 and two later first rounds, whatever that looks like. Maybe we send our second rounder back. Maybe not.

The echo chamber some of you have created here needs to be addressed for what it is. Fantasy.

You’re entitled to an opinion, ya boy Mop can’t deny you that, but I’ll call you a muppet for it.

I still want Harley BUT if we got 2, 15 and Norf's F1, I would be ok.

It could deliver us at 2 McKercher (like you I am keen on him), 15 Murphy or C Edwards or one of the many outside runners, 23 Delean or Zakostelsky (depending on Murphy), 37 Goad or Moir (assuming Duane Massey gives the all clear) and O'Driscoll or Hall on the way out.

Plus next year we likely get 2 of Smillie, O'Sullivan, Jagga, Draper

That will leave our future midfield to be : -
Ginbey, Hewett, McKercher, O'Sullivan and Jagga. Add to that Long, Chesser, Burgiel (not proven and I live in hope) and we have rebuilt our midfield engine beautifully. And players with real differentiated traits.
See, this. I rate ATG’s opinions highly. This, while more ambitious than my prediction, is more reasonable than the two and three play because North could back themself to climb the ladder. Perhaps they think the F1 ends up being around the 6-8 mark.

Way less pie in the sky than 2,3 and another first
