I don't have much problem with it - its legit what i have been preaching for 12 months and effectively we have finished 12th & 7th over the past 2 years and just re-signed guys deep in their 30's & trading the house for a win now midfield. Its a mammoth risk i think we are better off not taking. The only way this can be called a good idea is if we win a flag while we still have the likes of Cotchin, Riewoldt, Dusty & Grimes on the list. I just don't see it. This was the cheap GF year, clearly. They are only going to get harder from here as the new risers rise.

I think this year might be a prime example of why you don't commit to an idea until you actually see what the market is offering. Its good to be flexible as you can cash in on the desperate.

Ultimately, people who have flexed up over Taranto & Hopper, you need to accept that essentially these guys are going to cost us our 1st rounder, pick 19 + Our 2023 1st & 2nd & likely Soldo. That is probably the best case scenario here in regards to "cost"

what is the better package

Hopper & Taranto

or

Bowes, Pick 7, Pick 12, Pick 19, Future 1st, Future 2nd + Soldo

Its a no brainer to me. Take the picks. Rebuild
We ain’t giving that much for TT and Hopper 😂

I'd happily trade a Corey Ellis, Ben Lennon and throw in an RCD and CCJ for those two. Those are the sort of picks we've been squandering recently so seven years of A grade midfield talent seems a small price to pay given that post 23 we are back into the first round and who knows what happens if, for example, Bolton decides he wants to go back to WA?

No brainer leaving it to one of the best in the business, Hartley. Sure he’s 3-4 years ahead of our thinking.

Gee the blinkers come on when things like pick 7 get dangled in front of our eyes.

Getting Taranto & Hopper this year using the money saved from the retirements of Caddy Edwards and Lambert and reduced contracts for Jack and Cotchin will ensure we've got money to sign the likes of Bolton Balta and whoever else deserves an increase over the next 12-36 months.

Pissing all that cap space away to sign a player we don't need just to get pick 7 is stupid and would run the risk of us not being able to match deals for players that we want to retain or a possible KPF free agent/trade target we might be looking at in the future.

This board massively over rates draft picks. They are just another mechanism to get talent.

LOL .... the cliff is looming.
So said dozens of Richmond Big Footy posters 20 times a year since 2010.
LOL.
Love or hate them, credit to the Cats. Just keep on reinventing themselves and getting it done.
Nah, it'll happen. I've never said it before - their demographic atm makes it inevitable. They might not ever hit rock bottom, but other teams will find better strategies, or just get luckier than Geelong.

But don't get me wrong, credit it to them for getting it done thus far. I did post earlier this season that the silver lining in an otherwise dreary Cats premiership would be to show that a flag can be achieved without the need to bottom out or tank.

What the hell is going on under the table in this clip? Just going to say it...it looks like Twomey is getting a handjob. There is clearly a dodgy looking jerky motion occurring and his jacket is moving around suspiciously at the 2.40 min mark...

Any interest for Narkle as a delisted free agent. Think he would be as valuable as Lipinski has been to Collingwood. And one of Shai’s best mates. Take some of the sting off if we lose Graham and we get good depth in. Especially if we get a decent pick for Graham.
I’d be more interested in stocker, bit slow I reckon

So they’ve finally read the room and realised 4 first rounders wasn’t going to happen.

If only JJ was on the other side of the trade he'd struggle to open a pack of BBQ shapes the right way around so I’d ignore most of what he says

Geez, tough crowd 😳

That’s cos it was a dumb suggestion

Fair call, just think Narkle can get the pill but would have no issues with Stocker as a delisted free agent either but wait for the tough feedback 😬

Every offseason every delisted player gets mentioned on here, they were delisted for a reason. I have no clue why anyone thinks other clubs duds would make our best 22. Especially when we are already bringing in 2 top line players.

Stengle kicked 50 goals, got a flag and AA

It happens sometimes

Weird melt

Geelong in itself is a shithole, but it's 30-90minutes away from some beautiful areas and that's the pitch.

You won't see Danger shopping at Westfield Geelong
Its not a melt, just that the theory that its a destination club cos some bloke liked to go surfing is horsepoo.

No one is taking $250k less to live in Geelong over Melbourne, which is what you basically said happened. I find it far more believable that they are getting other benefits outside of their contract enticing them

Australia is the type of place where 30-90 minutes away, there is always a beautiful place to live. In Brisbane of the GC, you are 2 hours away from far more beautiful places - sunny coast, Byron Bay etc.
